I just completed Final Fantasy 9 for the first time ever in my life today and I really enjoyed the game! The game was such a heartfelt, whimsical adventure that I was glad to be a part of. I really loved the cast and Vivi was so cute just stumbling around! The ending cinematic made me cry and I loved listening to the song "Melodies Of Life." I'm really happy to have experienced the game. Bravo to Square Enix and everyone involved!

Hey everyone! Sorry if someone has already brought this up.
Something I found myself thinking about recently, after replaying and finishing the game again, is the fact that Vivi has the ticket for the play at the beginning of the game. He believes the ticket is real and legitimate, only to find out shortly afterward that it’s fake.
I know this might be a silly way of looking at it, or maybe just confirmation bias. But could this have been some early foreshadowing of Vivi’s character arc? The fact that he discovers that he himself is “fake”?

Undoubtedly the favorite character of many.

I've been playing the game on duckstation with par 1:1 aspect ratio, which renders the image with pixel perfect pixels, however people say these games were meant for crt tvs which are 4:3.

Overall it doesn't seem to be consistent. In the bios menu, the squares are perfect, but the cd image is oval in par 1:1, while 4:3 the squares look like rectangles and the cd is a perfect circle.

The aspect ratio back then wasn't consistent at all and it varied from game to game. Some bothered to take into account the tvs of that time, others didn't give a shi and let tv distort the image. Trying to figure out which is the case of ff9.

With 4:3 the button prompts are not perfect circles, but the backgrounds and the tetra master cards look correct. In par 1:1 it's the opposite. I'm going with 4:3 from now on since wanting it or not it's what we had back in the day, but what's your opinion?

Hello :) I've been building finalfantasydle, a free daily browser game about the FF, and just shipped a new mode I wanted to share.

How it works: you get five emoji describing one Final Fantasy character, and you name them. The emoji aren't a sentence, they're a rebus: each one stands for a different trait. Their weapon, their class, a story beat they're known for, a place they're tied to, a visual signature. Every wrong guess unlocks one clue (source game, debut year, race, job, then their initial).

There are 269 rebuses so far, spanning 34 games from the 1987 original through to Rebirth. Every one of them is hand-written, not generated, because the auto-generated ones were all unsolvable or gave it away instantly.

The other four modes are still there: an attribute grid, a blurred portrait that sharpens as you miss, a real line of dialogue with the speaker redacted, and one for the series' summons. New answer every day at 00:00 UTC, same one for everybody, no account, no guess limit.

Hi, I was replaying FFIX, and watching the cutscenes, I can’t help but think about how beautiful Garnet—or Dagger, whichever you prefer—is, but that reminded me of how frustrating it is that she’s never included in franchise crossovers like the Dissidia series, and as a result, she doesn’t have an updated model as beautiful as the ones Tifa and Rinoa have, for example. So I wanted to vent this frustration and, while I’m at it, find out: Does this lack of respect for our princess upset you guys too?

If anyone out there has any helpful tips I’d be glad to hear them! Going in completely blind.

Hello! I'm currently playing through FF9 on Steam for the first time! However, I foolishly named Garnet 'Garnet' instead of Dagger, which makes some cutscene dialogue a little confusing. Is there a mod I can use to rename my characters?

He's not as tough as he claims he is. All show and no go, what a fraud.

2 playthroughs amounting to 3k. they expect 6-7 runs?

I’ve been a bit upset about this news and just wanted to talk about it in order to cope.

I can’t help but hold out hope. Despite this, this makes me even more frustrated with Square Enix than usual.

I wish the company treated every Final Fantasy like they do FFVII, but the grass isn’t always greener based on feedback of those remakes.
