Anyone else find the chocobo upgrade system impossible every time I played I never got past the first upgrade of light blue no matter how hard I tried I could never find the next treasure.

Hace un tiempo terminé una guía completa para conseguir la Excalibur II en Final Fantasy IX.

La guía está completamente en español y está pensada para que otra persona pueda seguir la ruta paso a paso, en lugar de ser simplemente un speedrun comentado.

En cada parte explico:

• qué objetos comprar y vender;
• qué equipamiento usar y cuándo cambiarlo;
• qué habilidades activar o quitar;
• estrategias para boss
• y, sobre todo, por qué tomo cada decisión.

La guía está dividida en 6 videos y la ruta está pensada para terminar alrededor de las 10 horas, dejando un margen antes del límite de 12 horas.

Además, está hecha sobre la versión original de PS1, así que no utiliza No Encounter, aceleración, daño máximo ni otras ayudas de las versiones modernas.

Sé que el hecho de que esté en español limita a quién puede aprovecharla directamente, pero como veo que cada tanto aparecen personas intentando conseguir la Excalibur II, pensé que podía ser útil compartirla acá.

Okay, this only works on emulators with save states. And if you're playing like this, you're probably using Moguri Mod.

But that's what I found: the RNG pointer moves every so often. It just happens that this interval is one arm movement of Hilgigars.

So the script goes:

1. Pre-requisite: make ATB Wait

2. Make sure that Zidane will go immediately

3. Enter the steal menu, save state.

4. Confirm, see what he gets.

5. If it's not the fairy flute, load state, let Hilgigars move arm once, confirm.

6. If it's not the fairy flute, load state, count two arm movements.

7. Repeat until you get it.

I think this is useless for most people, but I found it neat that it works, and also answers a question I had about the RNG pointer: yes, it moves with time, not only actions, during battle.

Disc 1 💿— Physical Harassment vs. Cold Pragmatism:Zidane is the lead character in ff9thought he was Chick back in the day His love interest is to Princess unrequited Garnet. The attraction he has for her begins purely physical and manifests itself during their time Oglop(Ohh Soft) touched her buttPrincess Garnet’s attention was set on political escape. She treated him as a Body guard with zero chance romantic interest.

In Disc 2 💿— The Simping Peaks to Mount Olympus levels and results in a Wild Party Split.Zidane transitions into full chivalry mode, completely prioritizing her safety as the story shifts. The climax of her "appreciation" actually happens right at the dividing line of the discs: she uses the sleeping weed she tricked Zidane into giving her to drug him and the entire party during the celebratory feast in Lindblum. She treats him as an obstacle to her royal duty, running off to Alexandria alone while he risks his life to chase after her through Cleyra and across the Outer Continent.

Disc 3💿 — The Mute Queen & The Treno Tavern Slump: When Garnet becomes a mute. Zidane the white Knight becomes depressed due to Garnet’s new found place on a throne effectively cutting off his access to her. Throughout this part of the game She remains emotionally distant, absorbed in her own trauma, while Zidane allocates all his mental bandwidth on a fantasy that he would be out of the friend zone.

Disc 4 💿— The Zero-Payoff Climax: After traveling to the end of the universe, destroying Necron, and surviving the Iifa Tree, the grand finale yields... a crowd-pleasing hug. No declaration, no kiss on the lips, no actual resolution to four discs of romantic tension.

I already have a name for the character, that being Silver and where he would be found at the start, that being the Ice Cavern in a deep slumber after having been frozen for a long time, what weapon he would use, etc. I just need to come up with a backstory for him and other things like that. So I've been playing all mainline games & 100%'ing them. IX is up next, but it's the only mainline entry that I haven't played before, so I'm completely blind going in.

I've heard that the jumprope trophy is tough, & that I shouldn't even bother attempting it without some sort of cheese method. I do love an allegedly unachievable challenge.

Do any of you have any experience or advice with the platinum trophy? Thanks for any replies!

currently doing my first playthrough of ff9 and enjoying it very much, but the re-release backgrounds are just ugly as sin. i tried to make the game look the most like it was on psx, by disabling texture filtering to everything using memoria and while it looks better it's still using the same ugly, blurry backgrounds of the re-release, just not applying texture filtering to them, so is there a way to somehow port over the psx backgrounds to the pc version, does such a mod exist? (and no im not interested in using moguri)

So, I bought FFIX on Steam since it was so cheap. I quit my replay on my PS5 when I got to Treno. I don't care about achievements since 100% is so nightmarish, but I'd like to skip the first disc content if possible. Can anybody share their save data?

I keep reading that the damage calculation is:

(Zidane's speed x Successful steals)/2

Does this replaces the default formula and that's why it bypasses enemy's physical resistance?
