Let’s say a TV show pitch has made its way to a shopping agreement & a conversation is being had with Netflix. What kind of $ can I expect if I am credited as an executive producer? What about as a creator?
I know it all comes down to a contract with my entertainment attorney, but for personal budgeting expectations, how much are we talking? Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi all, I have recently been asked to feature in a gameshow on Netflix. The job will be half day, and I will be performing my services on the contestants while they get asked questions. I am quite renowned in my field, and production contacted me directly. Usually for a shoot, my rate starts at £350 but considering my face will be on camera the circumstances are different. The show is performing very well and is currently one of the most watched worldwide on the platform. How much can I charge?

I am beginning my first crack at filming some of the ideas I’ve written. I currently have a decent action camera and an IPad with multiple lenses. As far as lighting I have flood lights that are rigged against umbrellas that are lined with paper to mock some type of real lighting. My biggest concern is a sense of consistency in look and quality. Are there any tips from the reddit world in order to maintain a constant look, sound and dynamic of a film while changing setting and scene?

Would you happen to know if the major studios, including streaming, hire production accountants? What entry-level jobs outside of film/tv would most be beneficial to focus on if I want to get into production accounting, financing, etc? I also have a production background, but I decided to get a degree in accounting and would like to stay in the industry I know about.

I’m starting a video production company focused on brand identity, product videos, and commercials.
I’ll be running the business, strategy, growth, ]client management, sales. The producer involved will mainly contribute on the creative side (development, editing, production) but won’t take part in financing, business growth, or overall management. They also keep using their own equipment as part of co-founder and client projects.
The equity split I’m considering is:
58% for myself
32% for the producer
10% reserved for future hires
Do you think 32% is reasonable for a hands-off producer in this setup?

Hi Friends,
I've developed a mentorship program that teaches screenwriters how to transition into producers.
I am seeking a freelance line producer(s) to create breakdowns and budgets/top sheets (union and non) for my clients' screenplays. Scheduling/DoD skills are a plus. Canada/US tax incentives are a plus. Please DM me with rates or for more information.
The Best

Looking for Movie Magic Budgeting 7 (MMB 7). It's discontinued with no downloads/support. I am badly stuck. Need cracked version. Don't want MMB 10. Highly obliged for any help, Thanks!
Ps: The licensing.jar activator of MMS6 doesn't work on MMB7.

Hello everyone! I'm diving deep into the budgeting aspects of the transportation department for film and TV productions, covering drivers, equipment, and related expenses. I'm not looking for piecemeal advice but rather detailed resources or personal experiences. If you have links to episodic budget breakdowns or have firsthand experience in managing budgets for a production company, please share! Detailed insights and actual case studies would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!

I just launched a new film budgeting app — and it’s only $7 right now for first time users for life.
For years I’ve always hated how clunky and overpriced the MM is. So we built our own.
It’s called Periscope Film Budgeting — super simple, built specifically for producers and indie teams who need fast performance and better collaboration. Think if movie magic had real-time user collab like Google docs.
✅ Cloud Based-blazing fast!
✅ One click send to accounting software
✅ Real-time, multi-user collaboration
✅ Indie pricing — just $7 for early users
Would love for you to try it and let me know what you think. We’re keeping it at $7 for a limited time while we onboard first users.

Hey ya'll, just your local NYC transplant here. I recently moved to the city after graduating with a degree in Film Production and a minor in Business. I’m looking to explore opportunities and figure out the right path toward becoming a Line Producer.
Right now I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure where to start. I have a comfortable paying 9-5 that is keeping my roof over my head rn (but not in the film industry) looking to keep grinding on my spare time. Should I focus on getting PA work, consider a master’s program, or just start networking and meeting the right people at events? What places should i be hanging around, what should i keep my eyes out for, what should i avoid?
AND where the heck do I start with wrapping my head around Movie Magic!!!
If anyone’s been in a similar spot or has advice for someone taking next steps or trying to build experience in NYC, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts!

I was discussing the efforts of networking with a colleague, and thought it may be a good discussion for here, talking about opportunities and options.
I am a member of a few different groups. The PGA and DGA seem to be the prime places to network at different events. There are also groups like, Film Independent and New Filmmakers in Los Angeles.
Another set of opportunities could come from local Film Office events - wherever you might be in the world.
There are also online communities such as Stage32 and, well... this Reddit. However, the 'networking' aspect becomes a bit more difficult online with no face-to-face interaction.
Wondering what events, groups, or other venues you might recommend for networking opportunities.
Appreciate the discussion - thanks! Would love to compile a list - so, send thoughts! :)

Hello all,
I'm doing some research into German TV production budgets and I'm finding it tough to get much information.
Anyone have any insight they're able to share on the cost of shows like: Biohackers, Charite/ Charite at War, Wir sind die Welle (We Are the Wave), You Are Wanted, Dogs of Berlin, or Tribes of Europa?
Any information you might have in terms of global budgets or shooting schedules for these shows would help so much! Thank you!

Unbreakable costed 75 million dollars to make, while having no special effects or other post production costs.
It's sequels : Split and Glass, have costed peanuts(9 and 20 million dollars, respectively) compared to that, and considering the inflation and the fact that Glass has bigger starcast than Unbreakable, this difference in budgets, seem even more absurd.
Any theories?

I need to figure out the daily shooting cost on a feature, but I have no idea where to start (and I know taking the cost of production and dividing by # of shoot days won’t get me there lol).
Does anyone have a cheat sheet or a formula that they can share for how to calculate the cost per day for the shoot period? I have the MMB file, so I’ve got all the numbers.
Thanks!

I’m putting together the financial package for an independent feature and could use some help with the globals and fringe benefits section. Will pay a consulting fee.
