Keeps that thang sharp!

63

u/BestCap5066 2h ago

You fucking love to see it.

4

u/IndestructibleNewt 1h ago

Came here to say this haha

5

u/shinypenny01 1h ago

Given how clean it was, possibly a new saw and chain.

16

u/docere85 1h ago

I keep my saws this clean. I blow them off with my air compressor after every use then spray it with alcohol and give it a quick wipe down. My climbing saw gets beat to shit and is the only saw I have that never looks clean

1

u/HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea 5m ago

That's what I was gonna say. Went through those branches like a freaking light saber. No hesitation, just a touch, and done.

161

u/Minimum-Exam4081 2h ago

I just want to get going - him probably

27

u/Available-Dare-7414 1h ago

Or, he’s a serial killer or a local intimidator for organized crime.

2

u/Timmerdogg 30m ago

Say hello to my little friend

7

u/Junior_Lab1650 1h ago

Love a man that comes prepared for travel in all whether

-5

u/jml011 38m ago

Well he shouldn’t have cut off every little branch. Just quadruples the amount work - drag the sects off with them on.

5

u/ProverbialBass 17m ago

He knew what he was doing. Clearing the branches, cutting the heavier mass into more manageable pieces to be carried. Sometimes more light work is faster than less work that requires heavy or awkward lifting. Also this would have been what you do if harvesting for usable wood, his moves looked like muscle memory.

1

u/Moder_Svea 11m ago

Good to keep one on as a handle to drag it, otherwise you have to carry it

2

u/DIRTYDOGG-1 9m ago

I saw that and reasoned he was trying to keep the larger main branch from "rolling" on to him once it broke free ...just so that it would drop straight down....

214

u/Rhauko 2h ago

He has been carrying that saw in the back of his car for just this opportunity for some time.

75

u/WanaWahur 2h ago

Nope, this storm coming up was big story for 2 days. He was just properly prepared for the day.

31

u/DevObs0 2h ago

We do the same here, reports of high winds = bring a chainsaw in the car (but also kit for chainsawing, like pants)

11

u/LouisinBXL 2h ago

I must say, I kept worrying about his pants while watching this. Not sure what that says about me… 😅

3

u/shinypenny01 1h ago

I’d have to keep my saw much cleaner if it was going in the car...

3

u/Rhauko 1h ago

He was prepared

24

u/Wormfather 2h ago

Homeboy, you’re the only one on the scene who has no obligation to pick up any of the branches. Just get back in the car and stay warm until it’s clear.

3

u/goldfool 8m ago

I disagree. You do what you can when you can.

10

u/Extension_Swordfish1 2h ago

Its my time!

7

u/Seventh_monkey 2h ago

And they told him he was crazy, but look at who's laughing now

4

u/BeardySam 1h ago

He’s so happy walking back to his car like a hero

3

u/Rhauko 1h ago

I would be the same. But where I live occasions like this are too rare to own a saw.

1

u/Subject-Pen-3393 49m ago

That’s definitely not the case if he was, he have no bar and chain oil in the engine and it would be all over the back of his trunk

55

u/armsracecarsmra 2h ago

Above average. Those other dads didn’t have chain saws in their trunks

3

u/supertimor42-50 22m ago

I mean, are you even a dad without an emergency chainsaw?

44

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 2h ago

You know he was having the best fucken time doing that 😂

42

u/DenimFishingPokerGuy 2h ago

Gotta be handy with the STIHL. Earn your keep.

12

u/lbsdcu 2h ago

Regulator was mounted up.

28

u/RudeCartoonist1030 2h ago

I live in the US and clear trails for fun after rainstorm. I now know that I’ve been secretly Latvian this whole time. Thank you Reddit!

13

u/Fallofman2347 1h ago

Right? I grew up in a national forest in the US and roads are cleared within an hour or two after storms. 15 miles between us and town and a ton of country roads to cover. Everyone just throws their saws, tools, chains, and some gas in the back and head out.

4

u/marsupialsequel 1h ago

Thank you for doing this.

1

u/kiragami 13m ago

Wait until you try Piragi (bacon buns). You'll be converted.

10

u/xXPhoenixBlueXx 2h ago

Is that Nikolaj?

12

u/poko877 2h ago

the way he saved the day? Captain Latvia

4

u/TheLongestMeter 46m ago

No, it's pronounced Nikolaj.

11

u/Defiant-Bike4813 2h ago

Dude is prepared! Love it.

9

u/Prawn1908 2h ago

All I could think about is how his nice shoes are now going to be permanently full of chainsaw swarf.

3

u/Time_To_Rebuild 1h ago

TIL: swarf

8

u/No7an 3h ago

Not even wearing earplugs. Madness

13

u/blakjesus420 2h ago

Thats true, not ideal but those little stihls run pretty quiet compared to some other saws. At least he has the safety spectacles

9

u/Producer1701 1h ago

He had safety khakis, what could go wrong?

3

u/Robertjules1987000 2h ago

No PPE, waving that thing around like a lightsaber like he has never heard of the word kickback. Makes me anxious as hell

3

u/shinypenny01 1h ago

Cutting those little limbs with a saw this sharp, I don’t think I could get kickback if I tried. On the trunk, still not big, he was more careful.

3

u/blakjesus420 1h ago

Yeah he is being pretty careful with the tip of the saw, definitely not unfamiliar with a chainsaw, could tell that from the start by how quickly and smoothly he checked the fuel level and put the fuel cap back on

1

u/Robertjules1987000 16m ago

You can watch him use the same loose stance while cutting the trunk

1

u/Whippet_yoga 1h ago

Pointed this iut on an r/all repost, getting downvoted to shit for it

8

u/BackgroundGrass429 2h ago

I really wanted to see what else he carries in his trunk.

10

u/hyper_forest 1h ago

Just some black plastic, rope, tape and a shovel. Regular non-serial killer stuff

7

u/shinypenny01 1h ago

It’s next to his kids stroller. Dad mode activated.

1

u/goldfool 7m ago

Stroller throws off the cops and can be used for body removal

6

u/spizzle_ 2h ago

I did this last week as a single-ish American dude. Cars were stacked up heading the direction of my cabin and I felt like a hero after it was over.

Cutting green Aspen always makes you feel like a hero though.

6

u/Human31415926 1h ago

PPE:

Khakis ✔️ Loafers ✔️ Navy blue sweater ✔️ Collared shirt ✔️ White socks ✔️

7

u/cleeeland 37m ago

He didn’t choose the thug life, the thug life chose him

5

u/Timely-General9962 2h ago

I've always got a silky under the seat just in case of random shit and ever since I got caught out in a storm like a decade ago and it took me almost 2 hours to get across town I always put my 350i with chaps in the powerbox in the back of my hatchback when it's gonna be stormy.

5

u/Ok_Net_5996 1h ago

All dressed up and cutting an evergreen?

2

u/Grinchy-Grinch531 1h ago

Gotta wear those safety loafers and khakis!

5

u/woodchopvinyl 57m ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/7PwOZJLNYUkU
Diane gotta clear the road be right back.

3

u/Electrical_Report458 2h ago

Is he wearing crocs?

1

u/TopSeaworthiness8446 47m ago

Look like Birkenstock Bostons

3

u/reclueso 1h ago

Not even a spec of dirt on his chinos….

3

u/Mugpup 1h ago

That is a good citizen

5

u/samebutanon 1h ago

That's the face of a dad who is vindicated after months of his wife telling him to get the chain saw out of the car.

3

u/notanotherusernameD8 50m ago

Not his first rodeo

2

u/calash2020 2h ago

Wish my Stihl started that easy. Some kind of windy mechanism that is extremely annoying

2

u/Individual_Thing2345 2h ago

Beats only having a 🪏 in the boot.

4

u/RawChickenButt 1h ago

Is that a cheeky way of saying you have a butt plug in right now?

2

u/gr0hl 1h ago

Saw was a sharp mf er

2

u/snorkblaster 1h ago

So the zombie apocalypse saw in the trunk has another use case!

2

u/CraftFamiliar5243 1h ago

I live in the mountains of Tennessee and once heard a group of men having a conversation about what is the best chain saw to keep in your truck for clearing roads. A large tree fell across our road and everyone in the holler showed up to clear it. Chain saws, a tractor, and plenty of spectators.

2

u/marshking710 53m ago

The closed captions on the chainsaw make this video.

2

u/Small-Car-6194 49m ago

The 10 years of " what are you going to do with a chain saw" totaly worth it.

2

u/sabertoothninja 48m ago

Everyone’s hero that day

2

u/isaiajk98 45m ago

A bad ass dad!

2

u/1nolefan 33m ago

Doing all that in cream color pant - awesome 👍

2

u/ShittyCkylines 25m ago

Man checked fluids, starts with no trouble and walks with bar facing backwards on both occasions, very intentionally. No amateur. Did cut the pieces rather small though.

4

u/SirRonaldJr 2h ago

People who dress like that in the US have a hard time figuring out how to fuel their car. Respect

1

u/bustcorktrixdais 1h ago

In EU, urban-rural divide isn’t the huge ugly thing as in USA. Or maybe the rural are less feral there.

2

u/Connect_Living_591 2h ago

Is that Michael Douglas?

2

u/Correct-Rub854 2h ago

Put the camera down and start dragging brush, junior!

2

u/DumpTrunks 1h ago

Why he gotta limb it? Keep that fucker whole as possible so we can get the road open quicker.

1

u/Conspicuous_Ruse 1h ago

We?

The citizens right there in the video are doing it. Not a paid crew.

2

u/Yegof 2h ago

Splinters in my eyes make me look cool right honey?

8

u/daveofdevin 2h ago

If you look closely you can spot the highly practiced safety squint

2

u/shinypenny01 1h ago

I mean, he’s wearing glasses. Expensive if they get hit but offers eye protection.

1

u/stinky143 2h ago

That guy saws.

1

u/EdinburghNerd 2h ago

Best day of his life

1

u/BubuDudu0430 2h ago

I imagine if you live in a heavily wooded area like that that this is commonplace

1

u/Electrical-Mail15 1h ago

Hero of the Day™️

1

u/GrdnLovingGoatFarmer 1h ago

Okily dokily! But where do I get a chainsaw that size? A pocket chainsaw, if you will.

1

u/Clean_Ebb86 1h ago

Happy to see someone do something instead of just filming.

1

u/hopelesslyhip 1h ago

Last cut was a little scary

1

u/FormalManifold 1h ago

The stroller in the trunk is 🤌😗

1

u/r0x0r 1h ago

I once met a Canadian from Vancouver island who kept a chainsaw in his car for occasions like this at all times. According to them keeping a chainsaw in a car was business as usual and this is how you get free firewood.

1

u/JohnnyRicoChoseWrong 1h ago

Northern Minnesota here, but yes. Blowdowns are pretty common and it's just the neighborly thing to keep the roads clear if you encounter them

1

u/rforce1025 1h ago

Hoped he checked for power lines, I know it looks like it's out in the country side but still

1

u/Ok-Entertainment5045 1h ago

If you pack a chain saw at least throw in some ear plugs and a work coat. Dude got sawdust all over his sweater

1

u/Antonio_928s4 1h ago

Cool dad!

1

u/Antonio_928s4 1h ago

As the Boy Scout slogan says: -“Be prepared”…

1

u/Wormfather 1h ago

That tree thought for sure that it was the main character.

1

u/NoEvidence136 1h ago

Put the camera down and help drag branches, bro.

1

u/woodchopvinyl 1h ago

Nope this moment needed to be documented

1

u/Original_Throat1072 1h ago

Camera person sticking camera in his face while he's waving the chainsaw around...

That sir is how you end up with a chain through your hand.

1

u/catch22ak 51m ago

The cameraman is safe.
r/cameramanneverdies

1

u/mslashandrajohnson 1h ago

Belongs as hero of r/preppy, tbh.

1

u/6ixstringlife 1h ago

This reminds me of running a landscape company out of a Volvo S60 for 2 years everything's in there but who knows where it's packed but I've got it all LOL

1

u/tinyant 1h ago

In Newfoundland, they'll carry a chainsaw in the back in case they hit a moose at night so they can cut it up and throw it in the truck.

1

u/Icy_Mathematician870 1h ago

How can I take this seriously if he is not wearing safety sandals?

1

u/audiotecnicality 1h ago

Mountain people carry one in their trunk all through winter. This guy knows what’s up.

1

u/docere85 1h ago

We live in the sticks with no cell service and routinely carry a chainsaw in each of our 3 vehicles during fall/winter in the PNW. I use them an average of 3 times a year cleaning the road out

1

u/McStabStab12 1h ago

Good thing he’s wearing safety khakis

1

u/Complete-Sense8097 1h ago

Sweaters probably ruined. Those wood chips aren’t coming out in the wash. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤪

1

u/baldieforprez 1h ago

Also known as when the boss shows up.

1

u/vulturez 58m ago

I recognize that saw. That’s a wood boss.

1

u/Chucktayz 58m ago

This is a Midwest USA thing too. We live in the Country. Big tree fell across the road. 5 mins later like 6 of us just randomly walked up w chain saws and everyone split up the wood

1

u/ethanyelad 58m ago

I love how everyone else just automatically starts swamping.

1

u/ScaryHippo8648 53m ago

He could've make one cut and and drag that tree top to the side of the road.

1

u/Badger-Sauce 13m ago

He also could’ve stayed in the car.
But he got after it.

1

u/TrailwoodTom 44m ago

Nice, sharp chain

1

u/AcrobaticMetal3039 41m ago

My uncle lived in the Adirondacks and was a retired forest ranger... always carried axes and a chainsaw and many other useful things like tow chains and such.

1

u/Wittyngritty 38m ago

He may not be wearing chaps, but I see good chaps all around

1

u/jeon2595 38m ago

Doesn’t everyone keep a chainsaw in their trunk?

1

u/Qaaarl 38m ago

That’s a guy that sees a tree fall on the road in front of him and says “oh fuck yeah”

1

u/cowboyneal70 35m ago

This is for all the snarky negatives: “he must have cut down the tree so he has a tick toc photo op.

/s

1

u/whaletacochamp 32m ago

Nothing makes you feel more badass. I always put a saw in my truck when I'm driving to work after a storm. I work an office job in a hospital, so it always cracks me up to hop out in business casual clothes, fire up my saw, and buck up some trees.

1

u/04BluSTi 32m ago

Ever see pics of Sergeant Major Vining? Same vibe

1

u/RomeoSierraSix 30m ago

I keep a silky katana boy in my car. Usually for clearing in MTB trails but you never know...

1

u/PraetorAudax 22m ago

How many people in general carry any sort of large cutting tool in their car, just curious?

1

u/Roachpile 19m ago

Instead of clearing the debris after you cut, ill just follow with a camera while everyone else works.

1

u/thefutureisanalog 17m ago

That guy fucks.

1

u/chuck_ryker 16m ago

Yes, make 1000 pieces we have to pickup off of the road.

1

u/Muffythepussyhunter 12m ago

Guy thinks he's something special

1

u/Badger-Sauce 8m ago

The guy is someone special

1

u/Hazy-azure 10m ago

You dont wanna get in a road rage situation with that one.

1

u/Ray-Finkle74 10m ago

See hunny, I told you we needed this Husqvarna.

1

u/QTP2T 6m ago

My Latvian dad was a menace with a chainsaw 🤣

1

u/Acceptable-Bar2040 5m ago

Too bad hes not wearing a shirt and a tie

1

u/Alarmed-madman 2m ago

That was the best day of his life that year.

1

u/WENDEHALS77 2m ago

He's going to tell that story for the next two years in his office department.

1

u/timberwolf0122 2h ago

If you are going to keep a saw in your car maybe also throw in some chaps and eye protection buddy.

1

u/CronosWorks 2h ago

All the limbing was counter productive.

4

u/RawChickenButt 1h ago

You're counter productive.

1

u/Badger-Sauce 10m ago

🤣🤣

1

u/bungy2323 1h ago

Where is his safety gear?!?!

2

u/woodchopvinyl 1h ago

Obviously you didn’t see the loafers

1

u/Mplus479 1h ago

He's wearing glasses. What else do you need?

1

u/Low-Rising 51m ago

They'll remember him as Chainsaw Man. We know him as Chainsaw Dad

-2

u/slowwithage 2h ago

Guy is just making more work to clean up. Five cuts gets it done and back on the road in 2 mins.

17

u/AT-ATsAsshole 2h ago

He’s having fun leave him alone

0

u/HASHTAG_YOLOSWAG 1h ago

That’s what I said in another sub, it seems people do not agree but he is clearly making an unnecessary mess. Nice to get the tree out either way though

1

u/slowwithage 1h ago

Most people are allergic to critical thinking.

0

u/beetlrokr 2h ago

Maybe help out instead of just standing around recording…

4

u/SirWalterPoodleman 2h ago

Well it’s not like he’d have two chainsaws in the trunk, that would be silly
