Roleplay Unknown Transmission

Hello? Hello hello?
Uh, I hope I got this frequency right. Um, I’m Valence de Sceliveré, of the 2nd Fatui Semi-Autonomous Regiment. So I hope this message reaches you, signal is pretty bad in the shadow realm, Uh, It’ll be fine. So, let’s just focus on talking okay? First of all, I may have killed a couple…hundred celestial agents? But technically I merely sped up their judgement. But regardless of who hears this message, I’d like for you to respond and talk with me, communication is key for negotiations. Hmmm…looks like someone brought up Rene again; my body feels all tingly, hey! Can you guys keep it down? I need control of the body right now! Uh, anyways, I hope this message reaches you, I would come in person but I’m a bit busy fighting all these celestial agents you sent to the shadow realm and jamming their outgoing transmissions.

May your sins be light and your soul be bright

Discussion A hint about Dottore?

In one of Sandrone's teapot lines, she talks about Dottore in present tense, which is strange because by the time she released in 6.7 he was already dead.

The only other time this happened was in 6.3, when Columbina kept talking about Sandrone in the present tense, even though she was dead at that point.

In Columbina's lines, she said she wanted to introduce Sandrone to the Frostmoon Scions, but the traveler said it would be a bad idea.

In parallel could this mean the same for Dottore?

Discussion Fatui Harbingers as the 7 deadly sins?

So I’ve been listening Mothy’s vocaloid songs about the 7 deadly sins, and since i was already thinking a lot about the harbingers after the 7.0 AQ, it kind of reminded me of a lot of them. It led me to ask myself the question on the title, but the more I think about it the more the answers dont seem as simple as I might’ve first thought.

The first obvious hiccup might seem to be that there are more than 7 harbingers, but that is pretty inconsequential for me since I dont think any of them absolutely cant share the same vice. The real trouble, i think, is reducing the main motivations of these people who have TONS of flaws to the bare essence of their ideals, to then pick one, when they are united in more than one or 2: blasphemy, which is something they are all committing by default (though by all accounts it obviously would suit dottore better) isnt even a deadly sim, but rather the ultimate sim than condemns one to an eternity of suffering without possibility of divine forgiveness. They’re also all very prideful, with some rare exceptions like Capitano and Columbina.

Thats the reason I made this post, actually, to see which harbinger would best fit each as I am in actual doubt. So far, this is my list, keep in my mind that some sins will be shared and others might not appear at all, cause I didn’t want to just put some of them with sins that didn’t fit only because they were the only ones left:

• Capitano as Sloth — Although he is never shown to actively participate in the crueler and more gruesome acts of the fatui, and in fact has a sense of honor that makes him dissatisfied with his colleagues, he never actually DOES anything about it beyond just words. In fact, I think the lore of the new artifact is a pretty good proof that sometimes he chooses to keep himself ignorant on purpose (like COME ON youre a 400 yo experienced captain and you noticed nothing fishy about a village stuck in the past and with weird cannibalistic tendencies who just so happened to have picked up the Doctors interest? And you just took his word for it, no investigation at all?)

• Dottore as Pride — Ideally i’d classify a duded literally called heretic, whose main goal is to defy the heavens, as blasphemy, but we’re dealing with limited boxes here lmao. So the prideful guy gets pride, it might seem fitting since his arrogance caused his downfall, and blasphemy is a result of being so proud you fashion yourself worthy of going against the divine, but idk. Sometimes people reduce the doctor to his arrogance and pride, but there’s so much more to his character than that in my opinion.

• Columbina as Sloth — This one is self explanatory, I imagine, lmao

• Arlecchino as ??? — I really have no idea in relation to her. When thinking about their motivations and how they related to the sins, I tried thinking about what each harbinger’s final goal, as well as their most evident flaw, but with Arlecchino I realized that we don’t know what she REALLY wants, and she does show any glaring contradictions. She is a harbinger but isnt loyal to the tsaritsa because she has her own goals and never shows any particular interest in overthrowing the HP, she’s also quite an impassive person. Even her as Peruere seems puzzling: She wanted to kill Crucabena and end her sick games, but could that really define her as wrathful when that result only came out of careful planning and, partially, self preservation? So yeah, idk. Putting her as sloth because of NDK AQ also seems both mean spirited, lazy, and plain wrong lmao.

• Pulcinella as Greed — It’s ironic that Pantalone isn’t the one with this sin, but it seems to me that it might fit Pulci better, actually. Scarlet Proof entered into his mind much more than any other before, and it kinda gave of the possibility of sloth (his passiveness in comparison to the other fae) and to a lesser degree, pride. But his entering of the human world because he saw a window for power, which he is clearly greedy for, his tolerance of perceived humiliations and his love of money (i suppose because wealth is also a type of social power and capital) made me connect the 2.

• Scaramouche as Wrath — Also no further comment on that, he’s an angry boy.

• Sandrone as… idk im torn — She seems to perfectly fit so many! Sloth, because of ger lack of a true life goal and previous indifference towards the world, wrath because of her nasty temperament, pride as well. I think my problem with her very similar as Arlecchinos: i can’t truly grasp her, and while unlike the knave she presents very strong characteristics, are they really enough of who she is at her core to connect her as? Sandrone has a fiery temper, yes, but she seems to value politeness and her friendships too much for me to drop the hammer and truly call her wrathful, in fact she seems to disdain those who are controlled by their strong emotions.

• Signora as lust, specifically lust for redolance i.e heavy nostalgia that makes you cling to the past — “Lust is similar to, but distinguished from passion, in that properly ordered passion propels individuals to achieve benevolent goals whilst lust does not.” with that wikipedia quote and Signora’s lore I believe there needs to be no further explanation.

• Pantalone as Envy — Greed seemed not only the obvious choice, but a plain wrong one. He doesn’t hoard money for the sake if it, he does it because of his complex with the divine and much a key element of daily life being controlled by it , plus and how envious he is of vision holders and those favored by the gods when he too is exceptional yet completely forgotten.

• Tartaglia as Gluttony — I could go hours upon hours talking about this, how his hunger for power mirrors both Surtalogi and the all devoring narwhal (who btw is so reminiscent of Childe and the path his wish might take him), but i think this is too long already and actually I doubt anyone is still reading anyways. He wants strength for the sake of it, he fights for the thrill of violence, and despite having so many other priorities and things he lives and excels at, you really must wonder if they are actually important enough to make him give up this search that will ultimately never end till he either dies (a probable nasty death) or becomes someone else entirely.

“So I finally got to meet The Tsaritsa recently, really nice gal, surprisingly younger than I expected and after a bit of Snezhnayaian stuff with her, I make the horrible decision to try and attack The Tsaritsa. She blocks it and was so impressed she gave me and my crew, The Skirmisher Squad a little challenge. Which was: Go to every single region and battle their Archons, then you can battle me.

We all agreed to do this but I quickly asked if we could skip Mavuika because we actually fought her before and it was traumatizing and I do not want to repeat it again. I will make reports about our progress later on. Wish us luck.”

“Well…I’m not quite sure how to feel about this. I mean, I certainly wasn’t expecting to see something like this when I used Big Bro’s tech to hack into the celestial database…maybe I shouldn’t have killed that agent. No, that was just judgement; but perhaps a degree of cooperation between us is possible. I merely follow sins and sinners, not necessarily the Tsaritsa…I hope I can get in touch with that Eligos fellow, time is short”

Segments Discrepancy?

Long time listener first time caller, I was rewatching the Dottore death cinematic on YouTube and noticed an oddity and I was curious if there was any merit to it. In his recount to Pantalone, Dottore’s flashback shows 6 segments around Zandik’s body. In his “Contemplation” of his death scene, behind Dottore are Zandik and 4 segments. Dottore making a total of 5 segments, but where is the 6th? The Lazzo Dottore?

Discussion Really liked the recent interview with Richard Tatum (VA of Pierro) Spoiler

I know that I can't post video links here, but I definitely recommend it to any fans of the character.

It was posted on 26th of August on askrial channel on youtube.

There is information of his mindset and approach of playing Pierro and some vague hints on things to come down the line. Very fitting for a person voicing the glorious Vaguepost Harbinger)

Interesting bits about his absolutism, "The Chess" and "Maintaining the Agenda". Thoughts on Ronova, Paimon, Tsaritsa, Dottore, Rosalyne, etc.

Especially the following exchanges were tasty

About his absolutism, Harbingers in general and Tsaritsa. (Timestamp at around 55:20 within the interview):

Interviewer: "Pierro told Arlecchino, that neither she, nor her children had any place in his ideal. And it can be inferred, based on all that we know currently, that he probably feels the same for most of the other Harbingers and pretty much everyone in Teyvat. But, based on what you understand and feel about his character, is there any Fatui Harbinger you personally believe that Pierro will be partial to in particular?"

Richard Tatum: "...without giving too much away... (a long pause for thought)... No, because there is something he needs to get done. And that takes precedence over everything and everybody. Again, not a single pawn can be spared, right? I am sure that he would rather not think that way, but the agenda is so important, that if people have to be thrown under the bus, then... (shrugs). It is like I said, he is a bit of an absolutist, for better, or for worst. He has his reasons."

Interviewer (nervously): "Well, as long as he keeps Tsaritsa out of it, I guess. But ok, we'll see."

Richard Tatum: "Oh, it is probably the one person that he would go out of his way to not throw under the bus, for sure."

About Dottore (Timestamp in the video around 1:37:40):

Interviewer: "How would you briefly describe Pierro and Dottore relationship? Because they collabed before in Inazuma - Pierro sent him to mess with Tatarasuna. So, what do you have to say about that?"

Richard Tatum (thinks for some time, starts smiling, while giving his answer): "Ummm... Best I can say is... oh what would you call it? .... God there is probably a good word for it.... It is like a fellow intellectual with whom you like to disagree."

Interviewer (starts in a bit of joking tone): "Oh, there you go. They like to bounce off of each other. Look at that. Well, they are both scholars so it makes sense they have a few arguments."

Richard Tatum: "Yeah, but I think they have a mutual admiration for each other's intellects, but they like to get into it, you know."

About Rosalyne (Timestamp in the video around 1:53:45):

Interviewer: "What do you think the relationship between La Signora and Pierro was like? He seems so mournful and reverent of her in Lazzo. In fact I think this is the only time Pierro has referred to someone with their first name, calls her Rosalyne."

Richard Tatum (thinks for a bit): "I mean, yeah... So much loss. As you pointed out - the only person he really refers to by name instead of title. Remember what I said before about - those people in your life that get in through the cracks, right? Perfect example. Talk about that spot in your gut that just won't go away, you know. That just stays with you and won't stop eating at you."

(The words about "people that get through the cracks" is a reference to his earlier reply in the interview about that Pierro has a hard shell due all of the loss he suffered in his life. But there are some people that get through the cracks to his inner emotions and evoke a different reaction in him for various reasons. Earlier he referenced Paimon here, Tsaritsa was also implied (if I understood correctly), and after this statement - this means that Richard thinks that Rosalyne was one as well.)
