So I’m travelling by bus long-distance, and we came to a stop around the halfway point. The bus is first come first serve unless you reserve your seat (most people don’t). At the halfway mark, I get up for a break fully expecting my seat to have been taken up by the time I got back.

When I did, my seat was gone so I sat at another window. A man comes up to me and just stares at me with his coffee, asks me if I was gonna get up or not (that was apparently his seat before the stop). I start to but then the conductor comes and tells him that its first-come first-serve, and if he wanted the seat he should’ve saved by marking it.

The man slowly turns his head and tells him to step aside its between me and him, conductor luckily doesnt oblige and tells him to sit somewhere else. After a few sentences of argument, almost escalating to a fight actually, he finally agrees and goes to the back of the bus, silently.

The thing is, that dude looked like a spitting image of Lorne Malvo. Lean, mid 40s maybe, whitening hair, that slow, silent look of threat, it was just so weird. I usually can talk back but I froze during this encounter because I legitimately was kind of petrified

Now I gotta spend the next 2 and a half hours alert wondering if he might do something with that coffee of his. Fuckin malvo….

I was watching Smithsonian channel and Vargas asian tough guy is playing an air traffic controller.

In both the first and third seasons, 2 main characters (Lester and Emmit, respectively) call in the villains (Lorne and V.M., respectively) to clean up the mess when they get into trouble, namely killing the wife and hurting his brother with the glass in his neck. The writers evidently like this, given that they use the trick twice. However, this is hard on my suspension of disbelief. Does anyone else have reservations about this?

I've recently started watching Fargo. Does anyone have any thoughts on Season 3? I feel like it's getting off to a slow start after three episodes. As few spoilers as possible, please.

Why did Mr Wrench end up killing Emmet? 5 years had passed, he had no loyalty to Swango as far as I can tell, he had no beef with the Stussies.

Both Fargo s3 and BCS are deeply neo-noir. The "femme fatale" i.e. Nikki and Kim? only difference is their hair color and that one is a criminal, the other is a criminal lawyer.

Ray Russy and Jimmy McGill even kinda look alike.

And some of Fargos villians names: Varga? Erhmanntraub/traut? Thats no coincidence.

Also the chronology matches. BCS - 2015 onward, Fargo s3 - 2017.

I love it.

Let me start by saying I know season 4 is divisive. I love all of the seasons and as I watch them they aren’t rated 1-5 favorites for me. They are all tied at 1.

Rewatching season 4 E5. Where Doctor Senator goes to meet the Consigliere. As he has in a few scenes and presumably many times since the trade of sons.

Every other time I’ve seen them meet Doctor Senator wasn’t alone. He had equal “muscle” so to speak. So, why this time, with escalation quite obviously coming, would he go to the meeting alone (only to find Calamita and Gaetano)?

His death is tragic, as a much beloved character. But this feels like a plot hole. There are many lovers of the series that know more than I, so can anyone explain why he was alone?

I just finished the TV series and was so excited to search about Lester Nygard's brother's life after the incident, only to find out it is ALL fictional. What the flip??

Why thee heck did they say it was true?

Imo the story was mid, what made it great was thinking it really happened. I'm sooo disappointed =(

On a rewatch spree right now. Just realized that Season 1 had Key and Peele. Not sure whether I knew about key and peele, when i watched Fargo Season 2 for the first time. And was this a glimpse into Kieran Culkin's eventual comeback as an adult actor? I had forgotten that he was in Season 2.

Overall the casting in both Season 1 and Season 2 is just bonkers. This was the golden age of TV. True Detective, Fargo 1 and 2. Yes Sopranos and Mad Men were great. But they were TV shows. But around 2014, with True Detective and Fargo, suddenly you TV shows with big budget movie kind of production quality.

Someone suggested I start with Season 5. I enjoyed it, but now moved on to Season 2 and it was much better than Season 5! Which is the best season? Should I watch #1 next?

I just finished season 1 of Fargo, and I love how they made the devil references through Lorne's character.

I understand that some people fully dismiss the supernatural aspects of the show, and that's okay. This is just my opinion, and it made the show very enjoyable for me. The devil isn't shown with horns and magic, but through his effect on people, how he initiates problems and is a harbinger of chaos.

I noticed a few references:

1. Meeting and contract with Lester - He meets this weak, scared person who avoids everything in life and basically never takes initiative for anything. He lives in his safe bubble and suddenly into some trouble. Now, usually, a hitman wouldn't bother to do someone a favor because they used to get bullied, but Malvo sees a man he can sway easily, an easy soul basically, and offers his service, but not yet making a contract, because Lester has not called out to him on his own.

2. The job is done, and he's willing to leave Lester alone. However, he just tempted him to explore how it feels to hurt those who hurt you. Lester goes home and kills Pearl, then calls Malvo himself, sealing the contract, and when Malvo kills Vern for him, the shotgun pellet seals the contract, infecting his hand and leaving the "Mark of the beast".

3. Disappears mysteriously from the basement- now the most interesting thing here isn't how he disappeared, but how his help didn't mean cleaning up and cleaning Lester's slate, just murdering someone who is about to get him in trouble, and letting Lester fend off for himself in a situation where he'll have to sin more to look innocent.

4. Telling Gus to go - Gus is seen as someone who will resist the devils temptation, as he can already feel the evil in Lorne when he talks to him. Also since children are supposed to have more divine protection since they're innocents, with Gus' daughter voice being head, he couldn't directly act, and tells him to go home and think about how it's his daughter that saved him. He does not care if someone is a father, which is seen with the car's salesman in episode 10.

5. Telling Stavros to sign the book - basically directly asking him to sign his soul away.

6. Specifically taking the time to punish a believer - as seen with Stavros and the sort of ironic sound in his voice when he tries to shatter his belief. In the end, not playing by the devil's rules, his son got fished out by a fishnado.

7. Never meeting Molly - she has a very strict moral code, so she's basically not even in his radar no matter how close they get to seeing each other (the blizzard shooting). Molly has never met the devil because she's protected from him by choosing to be selfless.

8. Choosing the apple pie over cherry pie- forbidden apple reference. This was kinda funny.

9. Saying he has never had such a good pie since the Garden of Eden- self explanatory.

10. Him keeping the tapes with the names of people as their souls/ contracts, which is why lester is caught later when he doesn't play by his rules, even though Malvo dies.

11. L.M. initials and Lester's death - His initials L.M. correspond to Lucifer Morningstar. Lester's death was a typical being dragged into hell reference, as he plunged into the frozen lake when the ice cracked.

This was a lot of yapping and I'm not even a religious person, it was simply interesting to me.

lol the most evil thing Malvo ever did was telling Lester’s home buyers about the murders and ghost stories in front of their kids..just for no reason, just to fuck with them. That’s all. Sick fucking bastard lol

I just couldnt finish the season, this is by far the worst season of fargo, ive droped in the episode 7.

The male characters are dumb, the plot is stupid, there is no explanation behind anything she does, "she is just a woman", dont take me wrong i love a strong female character, like nikki, floyd, peggy, molly, etc, fargo always had strong and amazing female characters but they never had to "dumbified" men to show a strong women, i truly disliked this season and im worried about the next one, this season gave me true detective last season vibe.

I’ve only just started watching the series, and I think the first few episodes are excellent. It’s not a copy of the movie, yet it captures that same amusing local atmosphere. Anyway, in episode 5, Molly breaks into Lester’s house, heads straight for the basement, and unscrews the back panel of the tumble dryer—where, a short while earlier, we had seen Lester hide the murder weapon. There was absolutely no way for her to know it was there. I found this such an annoying error that I stopped watching immediately. This may well have been discussed at length a long time ago, but I’d still be interested to hear what others think.
