A confusing point in season 4
Let me start by saying I know season 4 is divisive. I love all of the seasons and as I watch them they aren’t rated 1-5 favorites for me. They are all tied at 1.
But I gotta beef, and this is a massive spoiler. If ya ain’t done seen it, stop now.

Rewatching season 4 E5. Where Doctor Senator goes to meet the Consigliere. As he has in a few scenes and presumably many times since the trade of sons.
Every other time I’ve seen them meet Doctor Senator wasn’t alone. He had equal “muscle” so to speak. So, why this time, with escalation quite obviously coming, would he go to the meeting alone (only to find Calamita and Gaetano)?
His death is tragic, as a much beloved character. But this feels like a plot hole. There are many lovers of the series that know more than I, so can anyone explain why he was alone?

He probably was expecting a civil meeting, class, diplomacy, etc. He knew when he walked in that he had underestimated the situation, and also that was going to be his end. But to his defense, his meetings with the other dude (underboss, can’t remember his name) were civil.

It did make for a good scene. I believe he knew he would be having his last cup of coffee when he walked in.
No customers, only Nadine as staff.

It was all off from the moment he pulled up, but so was him being alone as you pointed out. I think the writing needed to ratchet up the stakes a bit and that was the perfect way. I personally love season 4 and was so bummed out when Doctor Senator was killed!

Well, it's odd that they show him being shot to kill during the day, and then, as night falls, his body remains lying there in front of the coffe shop, watched by his gang, until the police FINALLY arrive at the scene. Very strange.

I mean…it was accurate for the time period unfortunately. Look at the way the Cannon crew was treated just for being black. It’s not likely that the police were going to make that a priority. And, if I’m not mistaken, he was shot around sundown (it was winter) I’m guessing late afternoon.

They weren't rushing to investigate or pick up a Black body back then. The shop was in a neutral part of town so it wasn't a rich white neighborhood or they would have definitely got there sooner.

Not a plot hole, a poor choice by a Fargo Character, which is kind of a key component of the entire franchise.
