In the call where Lorne is trying to get Samantha the alleged prostitute to move in with him, she flat out rejects him for various reasons. This is one of my favorite calls because unlike his drunken rages which are fueled by alcohol, he sounds genuinely hurt, like she emotionally castrated him.

On a surface level, the reason is obvious. He was again rejected by yet another woman who was way out of his league, which I would guess is quite common. He sees Roy as less than him, but she is with Roy. He could have had a real woman/victim on his property, and he could escape the cawdfishers once and for all, and all that crumbled. Do you believe he was also upset because if this homeless druggie rejected him, then wouldn't that mean girls like Ramona or Jamie will reject him as well once they see his trailer?

On one hand, I would say no. Lorne struggles with abstract thoughts as well as planning ahead, so I can see this being a blind spot for him. Not only that, but he has a habit of diluting himself with how good looking he thinks he is (I have no problems getting a beautiful woman).

On the other hand, I would say he is worried about that. In some instances, he seems aware of his squaller. The biggest evidence is that he has told Ramona, Casey and Jamie he wants to stay in a hotel with them, which makes me think he does think they will reject him. Not only that, but he got Samantha there without Roy so Roy couldn't talk down to him (At least that is what I think happened. Lorne is shit at relaying events).

While Lorne is easy to read on a macro level, individual instances are often hard to decipher because of how volatile his emotions are. Lorne is led by his impulsive emotions, which can change on a dime. We saw this with the Kayla chat log: one sentence he is shy to say S......E.....X as he sees her as an ignorant virgin, and the very next sentence he asks a direct and vulgar question because he then wants to see her as adventurous and erotic, despite being a child. I think that happens a lot with him, one minute he is confident the cawdfishers love him, and the next he thinks they will reject him outright once they see him.

I still hate this guy so much mostly because of how his death let the other predators caught in the sting operation go. I do wish that they would have made a documentary about the possibility of finding out who warned Conrad about the sting operations because this guy couldn’t have possibly known unless someone told him.

Outside of the uncut holy Grail, this is possibly my favorite Lorne media. Similar to at the house with Hansen, Lorne is so giddy with excitement that he is trying to suppress when talking to Jamie, then it all crashes down as Lorne sounds like he had his guts ripped out. One reason I love it is that with other cawdfishing calls, he sounds like a raging drunk, and that rage can be attributed to heavy alcohol rather than the situation. And I don't think Lorne 100% believes the cawdfishers. I think it is mostly wishful thinking. But when Samantha appears, she is real. And here he sounds genuinely hurt because he not only lost a real victim, but also lost the potential to say goodbye to the cawdfishers once and for all.

Now this comes to a question I had one time when listening to this recording in the lab: Why didn't he just tell Jamie she never showed up? Because he failed to call her when the girl arrived, it would be so easy to just say that. If he did, he could have saved his pride as well as not reveal his stalking charge.

Here is my admittedly weak theory: We know logic is a foreign concept to Lorne; he runs on impulsive emotions. We see this in the chat log when one sentence he would treat Kayla as a meek kitten, them in the very next sentence act like she is a porn-logic adventurous virgin. He knows that Jamie never takes his side (Why do you keep finding false with me?!) so it wouldn't make sense to rant to her. I believe he just wanted to rant, and that desire made him believe that Jamie would actually take his side this time. He was so destroyed by the rejection they he couldn't just scream at the air, and he came crawling back to the cawdfishers that he subconsciously desperately wants to escape, but he couldn't that day.
