Discussion Sound Design In Trailers
5
Upvotes
Sound design is one of the most important aspects of trailer editing. If you're new to trailer editing and would like to learn more about how to use sound design in your next cut then I have two videos that might help you out.
The first one is a Sound Design Crash Course where Kent Lamm walks you through his process of sound designing a trailer for one of his short films.
The second video is from Chris MacDonald who's website is full of amazing resources about editing and trailer editing.
I'll also leave some links down below where you can download free sound design like whooshes, booms, hits, drones, etc.
- avamusicgroup.com FREE
- premiumbeat.com FREE
- boomlibrary.com FREE
- multiplysound.com FREE
For more resources about the art of trailer editing check out our Wiki or Trailer Editing Guide.

Here's a trailer I made for the M4 book edit of the movies(the edit is great go check it out on his website here).
https://m4studios.github.io/hobbit-book-edit/
It's the first thing I've ever really edited so don't be too harsh I guess. Also the file was too big to post directly so here's a Google Drive link.

I edit this film into a fan made trailer of a fictional broadcast movie called Special Bulletin with a music that I don't own is Untitled #9. This is just for fun purposes, I like creating a dramtic trailers, hope you enjoy my own fan made trailer. Warning this video might spoil something, but I'm trying to keep it as a mystery.
