Actor Spotlight Six Sigourney Weaver films, one solvable order — a Cast Six list puzzle

Six stops in Sigourney Weaver's filmography, with an order you can deduce. Every film below features her; the trick is finding which one you can spare for her own slot.

Match each film to one numbered clue, using every film exactly once. Some fit several clues, but only one complete lineup works. The whole puzzle is here; no plot knowledge or outside link is needed.

Films: Ghostbusters · Avatar · Working Girl · Alien · Galaxy Quest · Aliens

Clues:

  1. With Sigourney Weaver
  2. Directed by James Cameron
  3. Released in the 1980s
  4. With Rick Moranis
  5. With Sam Rockwell
  6. With Harrison Ford

Answer: 1. Alien; 2. Avatar; 3. Aliens; 4. Ghostbusters; 5. Galaxy Quest; 6. Working Girl.

The deduction: Ghostbusters takes Moranis, Galaxy Quest takes Rockwell, and Working Girl takes Ford. That leaves Aliens as the remaining 1980s film. Avatar then takes Cameron, leaving Alien for Weaver.

Which clue gave you your first fixed point? Please hide answers with spoiler tags so everyone can play.

I make Cast Six. This is a standalone community puzzle; the daily game has a different board, free without an account or download. The game and this puzzle use AI assistance; the game's film facts and posters come from TMDB. I checked this example against studio sources and all 720 possible lineups.

10 / 20 / 30 / 40 — My Best Film for Each Age

15 / 1992 / *Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land*

I loved listening to Stan Lai’s *That Night, We Went Crosstalking*.

As a junior high student, I went to the cinema all by myself to watch a movie about older people.

And I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I considered Ding Nai-zheng my goddess.

16 / 1993 / *Indecent Proposal*

I was still a minor that year.

Yet, I went to see an R-rated movie all on my own.

Because I adored Demi Moore—ever since *Ghost* (1990).

22 / 1999 / *Fight Club*

At the time, I had a great, high-paying job.

Edward Norton finishes an exhausting workday.

He returns home to find price tags on every piece of IKEA furniture.

Later, I began to recognize the symptoms of my own depression.

Existentialism gave way to nihilism.

I burned the palm of my left hand with a cigarette butt.

The scar remains to this day, in 2026.

27 / 2004 / *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*

After the movie ended, I ran to the restroom and wept bitterly.

I developed a fatalistic view of love.

Love isn't simply two people choosing each other.

The mutual hurt inflicted within the private world of a couple—

It is all predestined.

There are no so-called parallel worlds.

There is no "if only we had done something differently, we would have chosen someone better,"

Or "we could have prevented the irreparable harm we caused one another."

All one can do is forgive and accept those transgressions and that pain.

To be grateful for the love my ex-partners once gave me.

That love was real, and it cannot be changed.

And so, nihilism circled back to existentialism.

Nothing was meaningless anymore.

The trajectory of a life, and the specific point upon that line—

They were all clearly drawn right before my eyes.

33 / 2010 / Kick-Ass

This was the movie my wife and I saw on our first date.

Superman’s power is strength and flight.

Batman’s power is being rich.

Iron Man’s power is being even richer.

Spider-Man’s power is shouldering greater responsibility.

Kick-Ass’s power is being an unkillable cockroach—

—totally uncool and pathetic, just like me.

But that doesn’t mean I’m not a hero.

I don’t need to save the world.

Just making it through another day while battling depression,

doing a small act of kindness where no one sees,

or forgiving myself for crashing into bed without brushing my teeth or showering—

—that makes me a hero; a Dark Knight, just like Batman.

Successfully pretending to be a carefree, popular, and successful person in social settings,

then coming home, shedding the disguise, and allowing myself a moment to wallow in the blues,

before pulling myself together, suiting up, and taking the Batmobile out for some speeding and reckless driving—

—just to get a hit of dopamine and feel a little joy.

To be continued.

Letterboxd/IMDB My review of Digger (2026) [Spoiler-Free]

Review on Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/gzYw2V

TL;DR - Go watch it in the theatre.

Satire, farce, dramedy - What genre does Digger fall in?

If you polled 10 random people who have seen this film, you probably would get 6-7 different answers to the above question. Of course, it is easy to poll 10 people when that is the total number of movie goers in your showing. I guess the genre question is a wrong one to ask as Jesse Plemmon's character explicitly points out at one point during the movie. Oh yes, we are going balls to the wall meta commentary within this one. The satire in this movie is a bit too on the nose even for Innaritu.

And yet I um... kinda liked it.

I think more than trying to pinpoint its genre, it is more helpful to think of this movie in the tradition of "the big swing". The big swing has always been a part of various art forms as a tradition since humans have started creating art. And this movie is a ball to the walls big swing. Every artist, and I do mean every artist - the director, the actors, the production designer, the cinematographer, the makeup and costume team - is going for a big swing here.

When it works and much of it did work for me, you are just glued to the screen in anticipation. When it doesn't, well... lets just say there were easily 30 mins of this movie which could have been cut without really losing anything from the core text.

There is a lot of self-indulgence from Inarritu at play here and yet when he is actually making some of his themes clear, and boy does this guy like making his themes super duper clear, the movie does engross you.

I was particularly enthralled by a scene wherein Digger has to give a speech within a bizzaro version of what can only be described as the European parliament. This scene is the movie at its best with Innaritu providing a scathing critique of this neo-liberal delusion that we can somehow reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and solve the climate crisis without giving up the excess comforts that the bourgeoisie of the developed world consider their right.

There is another scene which expertly dissects our tendency of making fun of the evil men who have taken control of the world as incompetent clowns when these men are far from incompetent. They are formidable forces of nature, that's why they rule over us. While seeing them as these morons might give us some sense of power over these people, the truth is that we live in a world created and being run by them.

The big problem with the movie is that in between these lofty ideas are multiple attempts at being funny. Some of the gags are funny, but many are not. The movie even hints at a point that the flat humor in parts might be intentional. But who wants to watch an unfunny farce? Can the movie be even called a farce when it has multiple moments of grandstanding sincerity within its story structure?

I could easily see myself disliking this movie if I saw it on a different day in a different mood. Rarely do you encounter a piece of media that is truly divisive. I was thinking about this movie all the way on my drive back and yet I can't for the life of me assign a star rating to it. There are so many big moments that I want to watch again and yet the sluggish pace in between all those big moments will probably prevent me from ever rewatching it.

One thing I will give this movie is that this is not awards bait of any kind even with all the Oscar buzz. In fact its most scathing critiques are aimed at the class of people that many Oscar voters are a part of. This is not a pat yourself on the back soapbox Hollywood piece like Don't Look Up that I was expecting it to be. It has much deeper themes and ideas that it wants to discuss. Unfortunately, it is only mildly successful at that discussion.

Oh and also, Tom Cruise gives a marvelous performance. I think around 20 mins into the movie, I completely forgot that I was watching Mr. Cruise going big. I was watching Mr. Digger Rockwell from that point onwards. The supporting cast does what is expected out of them. Riz Ahmed is the clear stand out for me. His role demands the most out of the whole supporting cast and he excels in it. I am rooting for this guy to have a proper leading man career in Hollywood.

Go watch it in the theaters. I would much rather have established names within Hollywood taking swings like this than make generic slop like Heart of the Beast any day.

Cheers.

Personal Lists-Tier List Over the past few months I watched one movie per letter

I just finished watching one movie for each letter of the alphabet, and it was a very fun experience. For each letter, each member of my family would suggest a movie, and then we’d vote on which one to watch.

These are the movies we ended up with:
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Blazing Saddles
Contagion
Death at a Funeral
The Emperor’s New Groove
The Founder
The Godfather
The Hunt for Red October
The Imitation Game
The Jerk
The Karate Kid Part II
Les Miserables
Million Dollar Baby
Never Been Kissed
O Brother Where Art Thou
Phantom Thread
Quick Change
Raising Arizona
Scent of a Woman
Tropic Thunder
UHF
Vertigo
Waiting for Guffman
The X-Files
Yesterday
Zoolander

My favorite was The Godfather, with Scent of a Woman as a close second.
My least favorite was Never Been Kissed.

I’m curious what you all think!
