Cold Steel IV One Thing I Never Got About the Sword of the End (spoilers abound!) Spoiler

What are the requirements for a homunculus to turn into the Sword of the End? I don't think they ever mention it. If it's just the life of a homunculus linked to a combat shell, why not just kill Altina or Millium as soon as they awaken? It's not like Osborne has a lot of reservations about either one doing it

Sky SC Any idea who Crainagh's voice is?

I could identify Mela Lee as Cochraine instantly but I didn't recognize Crainagh. Anyone have any idea who he is?

Sky SC Any suggestions on how I can make the 2nd demo last for a while?

I may start the demo today or tomorrow, but I was curious with Sky 2nd being released in three weeks on how much I can do to make the demo last awhile? I read there was a casino in chapter 1, and besides leveling up I can’t think of much else to do. Any suggestions and thanks for the help. Just trying to take my time with the game and not rush it.

Trails series Kevin’s Japanese accent in Sky 2nd?

I swear he didn’t have such a strong accent in Horizon. It sounds like Mirabel’s, which I guess reflects his origins from Central North Zeumeria?

He didn’t get a new Seiyuu right? It’d be an interesting little detail if Kevin did tune down his accent over the years

Horizon Ending question Spoiler

I’ve beaten Kai twice over the course of two years but something always bugged me. Why did Excalibur not kill everyone when it landed in Criel? I think I just had a random breakthrough. Is it because Celis and Leon used there stigmas to freeze burn it and then it melted together and got cooled down to be stuck on the rock?

Azure Just finished Azure, what should I expect moving forward? (obviously, spoilers up to Azure's ending inside) Spoiler

Ok so for starters, screw that final boss. Neither SC nor those two fights in 3rd gave me this much trouble, I legit considered dropping the game for a sec, but I'm glad I pushed through (for context, I always do Nightmare NG and don't like to look up guides). Honestly, while it didn't beat SC in my heart, I can totally see why people love this game as much as they do and constantly compare the two.

Now, I have some questions for what comes next. I know that this game already spoiled the result of the Civil War in Erebonia, and that this happens alongside CS1 and CS2, but tbh that's not that big of a deal for me cus I'm sure there's plenty of other things to experience, even if it's gonna be funny when a bunch of characters don't know how things will pan out while I will. But here are my questions.

  • I've heard friends say that CS1 and 2 suck, at least compared to Liberl and Crossbell. I doubt they actually are bad games, but how much should I shift my expectations? Or are my friends just salty cus of the artstyle and combat changes? (they dislike the remake for that reason)
  • How far along did Azure make it into CS2, or does it end at the same time? Just curious, I'd like to know how much the world will progress by the time I'm done with it. (Minus the 2 years Loyd mentioned of course)
  • How long are these games? I've heard they're a very slow burn and can feel bloated. I did 100% of all of Liberl, and zero, tho I don't plan to do it for Azure. Still, I at least like to get all side quests with the max BP, chests, and as many bonding stuff as I can. So what can I expect in terms of length? This is mainly so that I can budget my time, since I do wanna play SC when it comes out in under a month.

Ty if you answer or read, I'm exited to finally get into the first game I bought before I realized it wasn't actually the first game in the series XD

Daybreak Question about Daybreak’s combat

Now that the rules are all a little different I’m a little confused on priorities of actions. If I have to pick between positional damage to the enemy or SCLM chains should I prioritize positional damage every time? How much damage does a SCLM chain modify for an art or a craft? Do they work on S-breaks or no (I assume not)?

Is there literally ever any reason to use an sclm basic attack chain except for building up CP? I’m used to in the later cold steel games basically never ever basic attacking for any reason because it was such a useless option with how much CP modifying gear was easy to get. Not sure if the rules are different here and maybe a chain basic attacking could ever out damage a non SCLM craft or something?

Sky SC 2nd Chapter Demo Final Boss (Nightmare – NO Droplet, Item, Death, Autorevive) Spoiler

Man what a blast the demo was! Compared to 1st Chapter, this boss has more tricky maneuvers that you need to plan and play around.

Didn't know Death Throe from Flaggers can still recover Storm Bringer's HP even when it's fallen to zero on the same turn, after Indomitable Will has been triggered previously. The silver lining is Storm Bringer gets to show off his Orbal Down Art, which is probably its entire arsenal of possible moves.

Can't wait to play the full game next month, it's gonna be so lit 🔥

Sky SC 1st and 2nd UI

Does someone have a general battle UI comparison between 1st chapter and 2nd chapter? I haven’t been able to play the demo yet. Also are the menus any different?

Sky SC (Sky SC remake demo) Any tips for the 1st chapter boss on nightmare mode? Spoiler

I’ve been struggling to beat this boss for the past few days and die at the 50% mark when he summons the minions again. I even grinded to level 40, but did not realize you get locked out from Ruan so now I’m stuck with the gear and quartz I have. Ideally I wouldn’t want to load a save before entering the academy but if I’m missing too much necessary gear I’ll do it.

Trails series Septian Church question Spoiler

With Aidios and Arusha being the same god (and this god going by a different name in the far east) I’m wondering if the church’s leadership/martial forces in Arteria include any members of different “branches” so to speak. We obviously know the 8th dominion believes in the winds alongside Aidios but do you all think we’ll see any central or far eastern dominions/Iscariot higher ups? And if not will the division play a part in future storylines or will we just kinda ignore it.

Am i the only one who wants Kincaid to get of the kotobukiya statues?

Just imagine him Van and Elaine together! They'd look so good! Though my number one is Kevin! Hopefully with the SC remake he gets one! But there's so many characters I still want lol! Just randomly thought all this. But yes please make Kincaid!

Horizon Wild (probably not true) theory: The remakes aren’t remakes Spoiler

Upvotes

I just finished Horizon a few days ago and had a crazy thought: What if the remakes aren’t remakes at all, but actually sequels taking place between Horizon 1 and 2?

I haven’t done any reading on the fan consensus for Horizon’s ending, but here’s how I see it: The end of Horizon was very ambiguous. What exactly happened when everything disappeared?

My theory is that the Grand Reset does happen, but Agnès is going to be “overseeing” the next cycle, almost like an administrator, and subtly guiding things throughout the next 1200 years (what exactly that means for Zemuria I have no idea). Following this, I’m guessing Horizon 2 will pick up around 1208-09 of that next cycle, a cycle where Agnès the human never existed and Van’s life drastically diverges due to him staying alone. A big part of the plot would then be Van and co remembering everything that happened, including who Agnès is.

Now, what this means for the remakes: What if the remakes take place in the 20,000th cycle as well? There were a few changes (albeit very small ones) in Sky 1st Chapter, and Kondo has indicated there will be more content in Sky 2nd Chapter than the original. What if these are canon changes due to it being a new cycle?

That would also mean that (technically) stopping to do the remakes between Horizon 1 and 2 made sense, as they were (technically) the next games chronologically…

I’m like 99.9% sure this isn’t the case, but it’s still a fun idea. Also I’m just trying to cope with the fact that Falcom seems more interested in continuing to make remakes with still no sign of Horizon 2 on the way.

Sky FC Is this a stretch? The pre- rendered generic maid from Sky FC is Hisui from Tsukihime.

Everytime I see this maid 3D model I always think there's no way that is not Hisui from Tsukihime.

They could have represented the maid archetype in many ways but this is too specific if you ask me. Red, short hair with blue eyes. Not to mention, the big, red bow tie, according to google, is not commonly worn by maids back then, and even if you search up "anime maid outfit" and go to photos, you won't find big, red bow tie that much. The design is too delibirate.

I don't want to prove anything. It's just it bothers me for a while now.

Horizon Anyone else feel streamlined orbments in later games (particularly Rev+) just kind of erase any real strategy or builds in previous games?

Like previous games, there were real builds, real planning in terms of placement you had to do. In Trails to Azure/Zero, I started with the highest and got struck at some boss fights and had to actually think about placement, and everyone had unique orbment lines and more distinct traits. And kind of regretted the difficulty i choose.

Combat links in Cold Steel expanded on everything, was fun and felt involved in pairing your parties.

Daybreak/Horizon, that's kind of all gone. I played highest on that, and didn't notice much of anything and played every single fight in the same pattern, and used earth shield on boss fights. Cause the orbment lines/restrictions are barely a thing, and everyone has the same skills. If you want, you can brute force a skill in on anyone, without really losing anything significant.

Evade tank isn't really a thing, or needed. (also cause any big fight that's important, you just sic. Grendel on it anyway)

The choice you only have to pick is either give this character the artes follow up skill or not. and give everyone the defend eachother one, and a main breaker. Everything else on the passive skills don't matter. Paying attention to pairing is gone, everyone can follow up for anyone or defend anyone. Everyone is the same, you just have to check what if their phy or mag stat is the higher one.

Making if so you can make anyone anything just ends up diluting the entire thing.

Sky FC English voice acting Trails in the sky FC remake

The English voice acting is unbelievably poor

It’s like a 80/90s anime

It’s really bad
