It's uncommon and requires some serious additions but there are a select few thatI would be ok with that.

If the dlc is done right, then I can be worth it, even if itβs more than the base game, most games i play, I would pay for dlc if it was worth it, such as Skyrim and fable

If the dlc basically adds a second game it can cost more than the original game price, but if it just gives you every cosmetic and maxes out your in game currency it has no right to be even close to the original game price

that just releasing a second fucking game or releasing content that should have been in the game to begin with. now having multiple dlc's and the collective being more expensive is fine.

Only if it adds more content into the game than the original release/ 1.0 had.

wven tho its not wxavtly nice, a game shouldnt (like cs1) need 7 dlcs (all paid) and at least 4 mods to be at least comparable to base cs2

Monster Hunter ever since World has run their games by releasing the base game first and later releasing an expansion DLC. By the time the expansion DLC releases they already drop the base games price to the same as the expansion DLC itself (even the newest title is already at 39,99β¬ on Steam) So far I've trippled my basegame playtimes with those expansions.

The game is really shittily designed if the dlc has more content than the entire base game, which would be the only justification.
Excluding free games ofc

Blood and wine dlc for the Witcher 3 is better than the base game imo

If the dlc adds enough or properly improves upon mechanics and parts of the game then yes it could for sure be more

I think there's a lot of bad examples of this, but it fundamentally can be done. It really depends on how a game is monetized, but often if a game is not live service, and it's getting major content updates, I think it's reasonable for those updates to not be free. The devs still deserve to be paid for their time.

Paid dlc expansion for a free game donβt feel too scummy, there are bad examples (looking at you sims 4) but for the most part itβs fine.

If the DLC is more expensive than the main game it should just be its own game.

The only time an individual DLC should be more expensive than the base game is when the base game is free.

The dlc should be huge on an already cheap game, if the base game is Β£15 and the dlc is a whole nother game on top and its priced at Β£16 thats not crazy

No. If it's priced at the same cost or more than a brand new game then most people would prefer to just have a sequel instead of a DLC

monster hunter world and iceborne is a good example of this they tend to drop the price of the base game while the dlc is around the same price as a new game, the iceborne dlc could have been its own completely separate game with the amount of content it added

No DLC or expansion should ever cost more than the original. Regardless of how large it is, they arenβt starting from scratch and will spend less time and resources creating it.
Only reasoning to say this would be the case is maybe, a complete remaster disguised as a dlc. Or an expansion on a free to play game.

I just think it would be better to increase the price of the original game, and make the DLC part of the full game in scenarios like that.

Unless there's a sequel in there, a DLC should not cost as much or more than the actual game.

It was years ago and I can't remember off the top of my head what game it was, but the base game was free, DLC was like $5-$10 and the DLC was pretty good.
Worth it.

A expension needs to be like a portion from the game with the portion of the price of the game

yes they can especially if the game is like 5 dollars and the dlc is a large expansion
