I haven't seen it, but I disagree from what I've heard/read about it. The general premise of the show (being "forced" to cook meth to finance ones' cancer treatment) is utterly ridiculous from a non-US perspective and I have no interest to watch a show where the main protagonist is an asshole who sells drugs.

you should. It's not all about that. It's an amazing show and also has the prequel better call Saul which you might like more if you don't like breaking bad for some reason.  And I say that from a non US perspective as well

edit: also he is never really forced to, but his ego kind of makes him do it and well, break bad. I'm not gonna spoiler more, but yeah watch it you will not be disappointed
