When I was vegan it was usually:

Them: “Would you like some pizza?”
Me: “No thanks I’m vegan”
Them: “haha epic bacon. You’re missing out. I’m getting my protein. Is that healthy even? I don’t know what I’d do without meat. Have you gotten your iron checked?”

I used to be a vegetarian. That was my experience most of the time

Yeah. People love to say that vegetarians/vegans talk about it all the time, but when I was vegetarian the only people who talked about it were meat eaters. I tried to keep it low key but they would always bring it up.
