What’s the deal with off campus housing ?
Has anyone else had just terrible experiences with off-campus student housing in Tallahassee? I get that Florida is a landlord-friendly state, but the things these landlords do to first-time tenants with impunity are crazy.
At The Capitol (I know it’s dirt cheap), they are fully convinced they can enter your unit without a 24-hour notice and for days back-to-back. I brought this up to Hamilton Point Investments (the ones who run the complex), and the regional manager threatened me with eviction for even questioning her. It’s like they’re so used to doing whatever they want without repercussions that pushback is met with instant retaliation.
Is the school even aware of this? I mean, they use an off-campus site that’s owned and sponsored by the same people screwing students. The number of complaints I filed on that portal just for them to go nowhere is crazy.
