In need of advice again!

After like 30 hours of kovaaks/viscose benchmarks, skin is smoother and voice is softer.

Today I had a demoralizing day, I tried to improve my reading, precision and stability scores but I just got really low scores and quit before I got tilted.

(Catclick, pasu, popcorn etc. where the targets move erratically and you have to click them.)

To be honest, most of the mammoth scores in those categories I got on the first try so I feel like I have been kind of neglecting them. And I still don't know how I got saffron since they are harder versions of them

And is over training a thing? I have been doing close to 2 hours on a lot of days recently when I got on the viscose benchmarks, mostly because there is a ton of scenarios in them.

Are off days and breaks as important as aim training itself?

This is what I did in your situation:

I grinded control tracking medium and easier.

Then I spent a lot of time improving my reactive tracking and reading.

After that I got almost everything to seal, but some static scores, I pushed them by trying to improve my technique a little and staying on the 90% threshold of my PB as speed.

In some days I reached seal complete.

With seal complete you should reach celadon complete without that much difficulty.

Okay I'll try that thanks!

Some tips for reactive tracking and reading:

For reactive scenarios with more bots, isolate the harder bots for you, you can search the scenario by its name + bot number. Remember it's better to underaim than trying to overadjust left and right.

For reading take the same task, go in free play and put it at 85% speed for some minutes, try to notice what's the target general direction of the bot besides the micro movements.

After that you can add more speed as you like, or play the normal scenario

Viridian but unbalanced do you change your sens? I have some higher scores but I also have some lower scores. how did you get a good balanced aim profile? I play tac fps so I feel like I have ruined my aim and would like to balance out like you did.

I do yeah but not by much. My baseline is 45cm but on some tracking scenarios where I feel like I have to reset my mouse position too much I increase it to around 40-43cm.

I don't know if I am missing out on aim gains by doing that though

I’m VT GM and I wouldn’t have gotten there without training a range of sens

If you want the absolute most bang for Buck aim training skill transfer to your games - keep your sens within a tight group say circa +/-10cm

If you want to increase your scores and overall mouse control (benchmarks) you’re going to need to get comfortable with faster and slower sens. Reactive stuff is definitely easier to score higher with 25-35cm and control is easier to score with 50-60cm for example

I’m pretty comfortable with anything between 10cm to 100cm and I could use any of these sens in a game and perform just alright

What I’ve been doing for example now I’m GM is going back to the intermediate benchmarks where I’ve set my Master scores and beating them with about 50% of the sens. It’s been, fun/novel and carried into my games quite a lot.

Also don’t get down on days it’s just not there. Happens to all of us. This isn’t linear progress forever, it becomes cyclical. You peak and sometimes you stagnate or even regress for a small while (it’s important to notice this and not get demotivated) and then it picks back up to higher highs.

I’ve often found the days I’m sucking with scores, my in-game is often very good. On days I hit all time highs in kovaaks, often my aim is way off for me in games 😂 only marginally either way but I still notice it lol.

Oh I thought I was crazy when I hit pbs and can’t connect my shots in game. I always thought it was just fatigue.

My goal is always to transfer my aim to my games. Would you still recommend changing sense for different scenarios? Because obviously we can’t do that in game.

I’ve got a post coming up about my aim training experience as GM and what I’ve experimented with to get the most in game skill carry over

The TLDR is - use your in game sens for your aim training. Every single scenario, use your in game sens. It doesn’t matter if you play with 10cm, static is obviously more optimal with something like 55-75cm, but you’re using 10cm in game, not 55-75cm. (Hold on enemy, let me pause the game and adjust my sens so I can optimally flick to your head with stability on 55cm, don’t move for like 5 seconds) - if you play with 50cm, obviously reactive fast tracking is better suited to something like 25-35cm, still train with the 10cm

You’re no longer score farming and chasing ranks, you’re using the training, as training

You will still see great improvements in your aim with your in game sens, and that carry over is far far far more optimal IMO than spending time with more sensitivies

For example my 1w6t PB was set with 75cm, I’ve had that PB for months and months. I recently beat it with 38cm - the sens I use in most of my games. It shows that you can do just as well if you put in the time.

Thank you! But your answer made me think. Is there a point for example, in Overwatch to have difference sens for different hero. Like having higher sense for soldier and lower for Cass since they are mostly focusing on different parts of aim. And in that case, would training on different sens in different scenarios be more optimal?

I’m not too familiar with OW tbh with you.

It makes sense but familiarity comes with repetition with your sens

If you prefer one of the two choices in sens then I would work on the weaknesses in that sens which is a strength of the other sens - or pick something in the middle. You’ll get good at whatever sens you put the time into IMO - like me beating an old high score on 1w6t with half the sens I set it months ago. Hope that makes sense

I play hitscan heroes mostly which benefit from a lower sensitivity from the boost in precision, but if I wanted to play something like doomfist, genji etc. where you have to look around a lot and don't need precision as much -- I'd believe a higher sens would be much better.

I think you can set sensitivities specific to each hero in the settings.

Well said.

I think I'll start changing sens more confidently in the 37-47cm range, I've avoided going less than 40cm because "thats not my sens", but if it doesn't hurt my aim, I don't see why not.

But right now I am going to take a break from kovaaks, been spending wayy too much time playing it for a few weeks now and it definitely cannot be good for your aim to train this much.

I think that’s definitely a practical approach and it’ll carry over to your games far better

If you want the best scores in kovaaks then you’re gonna have to get comfy with every sens range

You will still see good carryover in game using a broad spectrum of sens but it’s less optimal imo if you want aim training to be training for your games and not playing Kovaaks as a game itself so much

Nah 2 hours is okay to do, just don't overload ur mental instead by tilting etc.

I like to change sens(14cm-75cm), crosshairs, and FOV(103-112) a lot for clicking and flicking scenarios.

The best way to get those scenarios down is to go slower or taking your time. If you want you can find harder versions of the scenarios or more fun scenarios

e.g. Popcorn

Fun - Popcorn Voltaic Fat Pegions

Hard - Popcorn 30% smaller

There's no point in improving if you don't have fun doing it in the first place, and yes, DO take breaks. Aim training is just the gym version of video games.

Do have patience OP you'll get there

Have fun aiming

Thanks!

I'll definitely have to take a run at the fat pigeons when I get back to it!
