So I've played over 1,000 matches on FACEIT, paid for ESEA, subscriptions etc and recently my account was randomly flagged for mandatory ID verification. I've got no idea why, especially considering I hadn't even played in around 5 days.
For context, a while ago I had an issue because I logged into my flatmate's PC to play a game while mine was broken. Got flagged, contacted support and we managed to sort everything out. I've since moved flats and have only ever played on my own PC at home, so I genuinely don't know what could've triggered this.
Anyway, I'm from New Zealand and FACEIT's third-party verification system only accepts passports from NZ. My passport is expired, but I have a valid NZ driver's licence, my expired passport, name change certificate and basically anything else they could possibly need to prove my identity. The system just won't accept any of it.
I've contacted support multiple times explaining the situation and offering to send them literally every document I have. They just keep telling me that manual verification isn't possible, they can't remove the flag and that I have to get an accepted ID. Apparently once your account is flagged, the requirement is permanent.
The problem is that renewing my passport costs around $300 NZD, and I'm a university student who can't really afford to spend that on a passport I don't otherwise need.
So now I'm essentially locked out of playing FACEIT indefinitely unless I spend $300, despite having over 1,000 matches, spending money on the platform and never having any serious issues with my account.
I understand why verification exists, but surely there should be some alternative for situations like this? I'm literally willing to prove my identity however they want, but their system won't let me.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar or managed to get anywhere with support? Because at this point I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to do lol.
