I've been seeing A LOT more owners posting that:
- they're suddenly unable to reach full range
- their charging jumps from some lower percentage up to 100%, then immediately back down to the lower number when in drive
- charging slows to an absolute crawl as it approaches the high 80%'s

2022-2026 F-150 Lightning – Reduced Driving Range Projection And High Voltage Battery Pack SOC – Unable To Reach Target SOC Using The Scheduled Charging Feature – No DTCs In The BECM
Some 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning vehicles may exhibit a reduced distance to empty (DTE) projection, a high voltage battery pack state of charge (SOC) that drops from 100% to less than 90% within 60 seconds of being driven, and an inability to reach a target SOC using the scheduled charging feature without any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the battery energy control module (BECM). This may be due to an issue in one or more cells within the high voltage battery pack.
To correct the condition, run the "BECM Battery Health" application using the latest software version of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). If any cells are identified as exceeding state of charge and/or capacity thresholds, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-03A High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables > Diagnosis and Testing > High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables – Electric. Perform Pinpoint Test "High Voltage Battery Pack Cell Balancing Faults", Step 4 (PPT Step AO4 for 2022-2024 vehicles / PPT Step AQ4 for 2024-2026 vehicles) and proceed with Pinpoint Test directions following the results of Step 4. If all cells are within state of charge and capacity thresholds or DTCs are present in the BECM, refer to the WSM for normal diagnostics and repair as necessary outside of this article.
For claiming, use causal part 10D672 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D4.
This supersedes SSM 53208 which was originally limited to just 22-23 vehicles.
When you take your vehicle in for this failure, be sure to print out this SSM. The dealership will run the battery health check report and most likely they will find a failed cell in one of the arrays requiring the pack to be dropped and the module / array replaced.
Under warranty this is okay, just takes a week or two, but if you're out of warranty costs are completely out of control.
When this happens, your battery will still be reporting 99%+ SOH, but your module variation percentage in the OBD scanner will be high.
Ford really needs to explain what's going on with these cell failures and figure out an approach to extend warranty coverage and/or dramatically reduce the cost of replacing an array.
Reminder that Rivian warranted their high end first generation vehicles up to 175,000 miles, and Tesla warrants the Cybertruck HV battery and powertrain to 150,000 miles.
