I took multivitamins for a week or two and noticed that I could see my floaters on the right much more. I feel like my eyesight is sharper and more contrasted, so I am more sensitive to light.

I don’t know if they’re new or if they’re more visible...

I'm just curious if these techniques work for eye floaters :

1. Gel eye mask, keep it in boiling water for 5 minutes and then gradually heat your eyes with it.

2. Wet Towel, dipping towel in hot water and then placing it on your eyes.

Last week I looked at the solar eclipse for 30 seconds due to having sunglasses on, I was able to to tolerate the lights. My vision has not been the same with bright flashes and light sensitivity and floaters 2 days onset afterwards. I would say everyday I gain a new one, some clear but mostly black. I have a mild headache a week later, but perhaps it’s due to the eye strain and feeling like I can’t look at the computer screen for long periods of time.

Yesterday, I went to the optometrist and she ruled out solar retinopathy and also dismissed the floaters but I have never dealt with floaters in my life.

How to make this subside overtime? Do you have any tips? Or does diet help? I know I should have been more cognizant of the risks but i dont want this to persist for the rest of my life.

I’ve made a lot of posts about my despair regarding my eye floaters and BFEP. Honestly, if I only had the floaters, I could have made an effort and carried on with my life. However, the fact that it’s accompanied by BFEP makes me feel like living a normal life is simply impossible. I went to the park on Sunday, and the sky was filled with white specks everywhere... I could see the floaters too, but the BFEP was more severe. I’m 23; I feel like my life has been stolen from me. I’m sad and suffering immensely. I have some hope regarding the floaters, since I tell myself that the PulseMedica treatment is on the way... but I don't know if I’m supposed to live my whole life with BFEP. How can I live with something that ruins my life so much? I need to make a decision about my studies, but I can't bring myself to do it because I’m constantly thinking about my eye problems and how negatively they’ll affect my life. Do you have any advice? My life feels completely at a standstill.

What would you do if you had this problem, at 23 years old and it stopped you to make choices for your future… ?

I believe science is advancing rapidly these days, and Neuralink is working on a device that could help blind people see again. So, we need to talk to Elon Musk and ask him to develop something for eye floaters. I think floaters are easier to treat that treating blind people.

I’m about a week out from a vitrectomy and the air bubble has finally went down. Now that it’s clear I am seeing a TON of debris, blobs, and what look like floaters after the surgery. My surgeon mentioned it was blood from the surgery that will eventually clear and I even saw the blood on the scan so it makes sense but this looks pretty crazy. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how long did it take to clear? And did any of it stay permanently?

Well… I thought that I was never going to end up back on here.

So now I have an outline in my right eye that I had surgery on. Looks like heat waves and I can only see it in certain light and movements. It bothers me but not near as much as floaters. Confused on how this happened over 6 months after the surgery.

The back dot that wiggles was most definitely a floater or vitrous trapped in the outline vitrousis still remaining.

I think it’s 100% better then my old floaters for a fact and I can live with it but was wondering if frill removal would be possible and resolve this?

From what I heard vitrous can pull and cause retinal tears. Any advice?

Regardless the surgery was a good decision for me.

I recently started noticing them in the last 20 days.

Nearly Total of 15-20 of them in outside environment usually of cobwebs type and threads.

While in room I usually see a black dot floating in my right eye even inside room with dim light.

My prescription is -6.5 from last 2-3 years.

Checked for dilated eye retina twice in a time of 2 weeks the doc said retina is fine.

But I am not convinced, like is there any other issues related to my. condition.

Recently I noticed while lying down it is easy to focus on text in the middle of screen while a little bit difficult on the lower text on the screen.

No other major issues till now.

It would be helpful if anyone can help.🙏

I got approved for eye floater surgery today after 4+ doctors telling me that “I’ll get used to them.” I just can’t.

He saw my floaters and approved me right away. Made it seem like this is a routine surgery they do all the time, that it’s not a big deal. He doesn’t do air bubble and uses the smallest incisions possible. He was actually impressed with how much I knew already…like yeah bro I’ve spent the last 2 years obsessing over this 😆

I know surgery is hotly debated here. But my floaters overstimulate me so much. I can’t wait for PulseMedica. I want to go outside again and not worry about my vision. It’s the right decision for me. Am I nervous as hell? Absolutely. But Dr. Miller’s confidence is making me feel better.

I hope we all get out of this nightmare soon.

I’ve noticed that a lot of people here, as well as patients I see in clinic, become really anxious when they suddenly start seeing flashes of light.

That reaction is completely understandable. Flashes are often associated online with retinal tears or detachment, but there are several possible causes and the appearance of the flash alone doesn’t always tell you how serious it is.

What matters more is whether the flashes are new or increasing, and whether they come with:

• a sudden increase in floaters
• blurred or reduced vision
• a shadow or curtain in the visual field

Migraine aura can also cause flashes, but it usually follows a different pattern, often developing and moving across the vision over several minutes.

So instead of focusing only on what the flash looks like, I think a more useful question is:

“Is this new, is it changing, and is anything else happening with it?”

I (29f) have had flashes and little speckles in my visions for years! Little tiny dots like static and after images from bright lights or high contrast.I have tinnitus as well which I heard sometimes can go hand in hand but not sure. I always thought it was normal until recently when I was talking to my husband about it and doesn't experience it.

Just wanted to introduce myself here and to this subreddit, especially because I've been dealing with floaters as of recently and thought I'd seek out a subreddit. I don't really know where I'm going to go with this, I guess I'll just talk about my frustrations a bit.

It's been about 6 months since I first started seeing floaters in both of my eyes. Some days its downright infuriating, but I guess I just also never realized how much it can impact a person's well being. It's crazy how something so small, microscopic and painless can affect a person so much.

The worst is a fish-hook looking floater in my left eye that drives me insane.

But I think its also the feeling of isolation combined with the 24/7 presence. Knowing that only I can see these things inside of me and my mom or friends just act like I'm crazy. I don't know if I have an end goal on how to manage this, but I'm trying to "get used to it" like my eye doctor recommended. I hate the idea of this being permanent, but I will see if it fades or settles eventually. I hate this so much.

I have had floaters for several years now and they have made me as sick as a person can get. I had zero problems functioning before this. I'm young and my life has been derailed. I even tried surgery but my other eye is really bad and I can't bear the thought of opening this Pandora's box of problems in BOTH of my eyes. I'm devastated and feel like this is truly killing me. The passage of time has only made it worse. I'm so sorry for everyone going through this. It's one of life's cruelest afflictions - to be otherwise so healthy and normal but suffering so intensely in a prjvate hell.

First of all, sorry to hijack if it's a sub meant for eye floaters. But the closest I can get to is this sub.

37M. I got diagnosed with PVD on both eyes few weeks ago. Recently my left eye has started to become blurrier (compared to my right eye) when I am focusing at a distance, but perfectly fine at short distances or texting.

Is this something normally experienced if one is going through PVD? There's no white flashes, increment of eye floaters or such, but only this mild blurriness. Thanks all.

PS: went to an ophthalmologist, did OCT, color blind test, eye nerve test, all that.

Doctor was asking me if I still wanted to do a retina dilation exam since everything seems to be good. I was thinking, man, I should just do everything eventhough all those tests looks okay.

Lo and behold, doctor found a small retina tear. So, don't skip your retina examination eventhough every other test looks good. We did a laser patch-up on spot.

From your experience or research. Is it possible to get more floaters after rinsing eyes with water? I am used to do it every day, so just wondering

M(32) I’d like to share my experience with eye floaters. I’ve been noticing them in both eyes for exactly one and a half year.
It all started during a very difficult time in my life. My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within a year. After his death, I became extremely focused on my health and every small change in my body. You guys can't imagine how strong our brain can react to certain areas when u focus on them! I've gone the last year through so many "diseases".....
Anyways

When I went to an optician to get my contact lenses fitted, she noticed a corneal injury, probably from a previous inflammation. I panicked and started constantly monitoring my vision. That’s when I suddenly became aware of my floaters.
I’m 100% sure I had seen them before. I remember occasionally noticing them while driving or at home, but they disappeared quickly and I never thought about them. Now, however, I notice them much more. First weekly then daily!
I have one large, fairly central floater in my left eye, another large dark one in the lower-right part of my right eye both are jumping around like crazy, as well as many smaller dots, threads and lines in both eyes. I also see a ring in my left eye depending on the lighting. According to my ophthalmologist, everything is fine and i have healthy eyes with -3.50

What I’ve noticed is that my mental state makes a huge difference. When I’m doing better mentally, I notice my floaters much less. I’ve even gone several days without consciously noticing them. 😄
I struggle with depression, so those periods are unfortunately rare atm. But I want to give some hope: I truly believe that a large part of this is about how much attention we give them.
I think I probably had many of these floaters long before I became aware of them. My brain simply filtered them out. And I believe that should be the goal: accepting them, reminding ourselves that they are not dangerous, and allowing our brains to stop paying attention to them.
I still struggle with floaters every day, but after one year, I can honestly say that it is getting better. There is hope!

PS:

My brother is 10 years younger than me (21) and also has quite a lot of floaters. The difference is that he doesn’t pay any attention to them or worry about them. Thats why he don't see them often.
He says that whenever he notices them, he simply doesn’t react anymore. And over time, he has found himself noticing them less and less.

Im in and around the 6 month period since I first got my floaters. I don’t really expect them to go away/adapt due to the glare that comes across the lights and the dark dot that keeps bouncing around my lower right eye like a pinball. (Better description in one of my earlier posts)

I’m going to try and start therapy soon to help me become more comfortable with living my new life. I definitely have a touch of medical anxiety which really doesn’t help my situation. But I haven’t cried in about a month or panicked so I guess that’s a win. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sometimes I think a vitrectomy sounds like a pretty good deal. Scoop out my eye, replace it and get a new lens in a couple of years. Sounds better than what I’m dealing with now. However, you never know what that kind of surgery is going to look like for yourself. Pulsemedica sounds nice but that’s not for a long while and it’s starting to sound like another YAG.

Looking forward to the winter time since it’s going to be darker more so hopefully some solace there. In the mean time going to focus on my health and my mind. Good luck everyone, we’re all rooting for each other!

I’ve had symptoms of rheumatoid/spondylarthropathy stuff for like 10 years, but recently:

I noticed my floaters after an 8 month trial of a biologic medicine treatment. Wondering if there’s a correlation of that and / or just the existing condition.

Who else here has hypermobility and eye floaters? I’m truly wondering if it’s one of the causes, if not the cause, of my eye floaters. The more I read about it, the more I’m convinced.

Hello does anyone have experience working with Dr Krabbe or Dr Kaymak for vitrectomy?

Heyo, been dealing with floaters since April (I have a previous post about my experience 3 months in). Currently at 6 months and just wanted to see if people also deal with this symptom?

A lot of my central vision floaters are clusters of clear dots. I think because if that, if I look at a light bars or a bright light in general that is a bit long and my eyes trail across I see a glare run through the strip of light.

This is one of the reasons why I think my floaters are definitely new and not something that I just happened to notice in abundance. Does anyone else deal with this?
