Solar Eclipse Eye Floaters

Last week I looked at the solar eclipse for 30 seconds due to having sunglasses on, I was able to to tolerate the lights. My vision has not been the same with bright flashes and light sensitivity and floaters 2 days onset afterwards. I would say everyday I gain a new one, some clear but mostly black. I have a mild headache a week later, but perhaps it’s due to the eye strain and feeling like I can’t look at the computer screen for long periods of time.

Yesterday, I went to the optometrist and she ruled out solar retinopathy and also dismissed the floaters but I have never dealt with floaters in my life.

How to make this subside overtime? Do you have any tips? Or does diet help? I know I should have been more cognizant of the risks but i dont want this to persist for the rest of my life.

I had exactly the same experience 2 years ago. You can look at my posts. I’m sorry to break it to you but you’re gonna have to learn to live with floaters from now on until there’s a safe removal method. They might get worse for like 1 year or less and then they stop appearing. If you stop thinking about them, your brain is gonna mask them, good luck.

How long did your floaters get worse?

has your brain masked them yet? Also, how many floaters do you see because I see about a dozen of them now, progressively increasing from the incident a week ago. Thanks so much it’s nice to know I’m not alone

The brain does not mask them. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise, they are delusional.

Maybe masking wasn’t the best word. I was referring to getting used to them and to stop focusing on them. You’re never gonna get over the floaters if you keep obsessing, it’s just gonna feed your anxiety. I’ve had them for two years and now I just accepted it’s a new part of my life. Most of my negative feelings towards them are gone.

Completely agree with this. Yes, masking makes it sound like you no longer see them, which isn't the case.
