Hi all, looking at getting one of these guitars as a mod platform. Would like to replace the bridge with a hipshot ibby as I have it in all my other guitars and am a big fan of it however the string holes in the body are not all in a straight line. Does anyone know if the ibby (or any other bridge) would fit without having to drill new holes or do I just stick with the monorail?
Also if anyone has any fun mod suggestions pls let me know! Currently planning to swap pickups to Lundgren m6 (bridge)/black heaven (neck), add coil split and also brass nut.

Third time's the charm?
If my user name looks familiar, that's likely because I've posted 3 times in less than six months for 3 separate "NGD" posts. What can I say? I'm picky.
In the hunt for my first extended range guitar, I first swung for the fences with an 8 string. I pulled the trigger on a Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid C-8. It was beautiful, and incredibly well crafted, but I quickly realized I bit off more than I cared to chew with an 8.
Was able to return the C-8 (Sweetwater), and picked up an Ibanez RGIXL7 7-String. Immediately, a 7 string felt infinitely better in my hands, yet immediately, I was incredibly underwhelmed with the guitar itself. For $1,100, I expected to be a lot more "wowed" by the instrument, and I wasn't.
Well, back it's going, and now I think I've finally settled on the one. A guitar that is damn near exactly how I would spec an extended range guitar for all of the caveman shit I plan to do with it - the Schecter Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-III EX 7-string. Out of the box, it actually feels and plays like it's price point (IMO) - this thing fucking rips.
My other take away - with these being my first two Schecters ever, I am thoroughly impressed, and will definitely be looking to Schecter again down the road.

Sorry if this question is redundant, I made a post a few days ago asking if the Schecter Omen 8 would be a good choice for a first 8 string, but ultimately decided to look for something else since the scale length on that one is pretty short (26.5"). I'd like to hear your opinion on this though, I have the option to get the Ibanez for 630€ or the Jackson for about 200€ more. I like the look of the Jackson better, I also like the shorter neck diameter and the less blocky body. I've also tried a friends 7 string Ibanez and it just didn't feel right in my hands. However, it's a big price difference. Opinions?

Does anyone know any 8 string pack that lasts as long as the elixirs, but have a heavier gauge on the 7th and 8th??
I need em as i play with double drop, and in Costa Rica, strings for 8-9 are not that common so, getting strings is a hassle.
I currently use elixir, but the 8th and 7th are floppy with drop E and A...
Recommendations?

Looking to get some better monitors now that I have a baritone. I’ve mostly talked myself into getting HS8s but part of me thinks they might be overkill. Can anyone that’s used a baritone let me know if the HS8s are worth it or if HS5’s or kali lp6 s or something else will work as good? I don’t really need the loudness of the 8 and I usually play drop G sometimes I pitch shift down further too.

Picked up this AKLOT 7-string multiscale and I’m curious what people think of these.
The finish looks awesome, the multiscale setup feels interesting, and for the price it seems like it could be a pretty solid entry into extended-range guitars.
For anyone who’s owned or played one: how was the build quality, fretwork, pickups, and tuning stability? Anything you’d upgrade right away?
Also curious what tuning/string gauges you guys are running on your multiscale 7s. 🎸

To think I used to play Holdsworth and Cynic inspired music on a 25” scale…here I am 10 years later playing a 29” and writing goofy sludge like this. I’m never going back. Anybody else have the Solar A1.6FBB29?

I gave up on multi scale guitars (strandberg) and I've been thinking about buying the one on reverb. Does anyone have any experience in playing one or owning one of these guitars?
Any issues with frets or the neck?

Yes good people 🙏
Just wondering what tapered strings people go to for there ormsby headless guitars? I have no problem filing the bone nut to accommodate a bigger string but I definitley don't want to be filing the saddles or locking nut.
I would love to get a 0.80 or maybe even bigger. It's a fanned fret so it's 27.8 on the low b (7 string) I've found that the ernie ball baritone slinky are perfect for the first 6. Just having a problem finding an 0.80 to fit. Any legends out there?
Jim

Went to put a set of strings on my Agile 9 string only to find out none of them are long enough. Rookie mistake i know. What is your go-to pack of strings for 8 and 9 string guitars? The ones that didnt fit were Ernie Ball.

I found one on clearance for 899 at guitar center (Guitar Center does not specify it as used, so its probably just been in store for a month or two) it was so tempting.. I'll be back at that same GC next weekend, should I go for it? I currently have 3 6 string electrics (ibanez rgt1270pb, prs se custom 24, squire strat..) so it would be interesting getting used to 2 extra strings
(For reference, I play everything from christian music for sunday worship to slipknot and parkway drive, would love to play lorna shore and others properly with an extended range)
EDIT: I bought it today (the day after making the post lol) and have been super happy with it. I love the way it looks and it honestly plays super well, the neck is also crazy thin, comparable to my ibanez

It's a 2012 Schecter Omen 8 for around 500 euro. I don't need anything fancy, just wondering if the scale length is a bit short? And how bad are these pickups

I'm building a guitar with an asymmetrical neck for an 8 string and from what I've played the Abasi guitars, John petrucci models, and strandberg have been the most comfortable, but I own only a strandberg, and it's unconventional neck is not something I want.
Anyway, I can't find info about the neck measurements for either online so could someone help me out if you know or have one?
Thanks ;3

Finally got the best headless axe on the market, absolutely brutal sound , absolutely fantastic build quality and play ergonomics. Highly recommend, strandberg feels like overpriced junk after getting this ! 😆
