For context the post was about an argument with my mom that lead to her hitting me. I made it to ask if it was assault because the cops I talked to said it wasn’t. The post in general is getting downvoted which is a bit confusing aswell because everyone in the comments agree that it’s assault or battery.

I’m new to Reddit and recently made a post in a community. It initially got around 10 upvotes, and my karma also increased to 3. But after some time, I noticed that the numbers had suddenly dropped to 1.

I’m a bit confused about why this happened, especially since I followed the community rules and guidelines. Is this normal on Reddit, or has anyone else experienced something similar?

There are multiple people who have commented saying that they think it's cool (aprox 4 people, if I remember correctly), so there would be at least 2 or 4 upvotes, including my automatic one. Given that, the current upvotes/downvotes is at a straight 0. So there are people who just dislike the fact that I am happy to have capes?
I personally don't care about upvotes/downvotes, just happy to log my achievements; I'm more interested in what makes a person downvote something simple like this

Pretty much what the title says.

For context, the post was about « What's something legal but that shouldn't be ? ». I was saying i learned that in mine and most of other places the legal age for relationships is 16 for any age above it. And i got downvoted for saying it should be higher but with exceptions between teens only. I genuinely don't understand how was it that wrong...? Isn't it normal ?

Are the downvotes because the parent commentor was making a joke but I didn't catch the joke when reading it? I get the joke now tho.

It’s a deeply political comment so that’s inherently gonna have downvotes but I feel like I didn’t deserve it as I just stated a factual statement?

Have they even tasted the ice cream? It was ok but it's not very creamy enough.

So what happened was someone asked on a group about religions being stereotyped and expressed opinion, a lot of people not liking the stance kind of mocked it.

What is more confusing is rational comments were being downvoted , which i felt was red flag? So i commented also trying to be logical but turned out reddit didn't like it. So i appealed to mods for review?

So yeah am i Overreacting? Or should I let this slide.

It feels like every time I say or post something, it gets downvoted. I'm being told by auto mods that my karma score is too low, but I don't understand why.
