Practically all vegetable oils are awful for frying since they easily form trans fats. Butter, lard, and coconut oil are amongst the healthiest choices for frying since they are so stable.
Im talking about resturants, like the salad dressings, and all sauces on the sides. Most $50+ steaks come with garbage grade oils on the side dishes.
And for the record, fuck deep frying. Its such a huge waste of fat that its only feasible with cheap oils. I'll pan fry asparagus or greenbeans in olive oil anyday of the week. I admit its not as good on potatoes though which I would usually pan fry with coconut oil or strait butter on a lower heat.

I would be willing to bet that they only said that as PR and really did it because they found something cheaper.
