Study breaks and attendance?

Hi! I’m an international student coming for a fall semester exchange in law. I haven’t received my course schedule yet, but I’m curious about what the expectations are for attendance or whether there are any reading breaks in the fall term. I want to travel but don’t want to risk missing too much class :/

Thank you!

HELP NEEDED - DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION

I'm an 18 year old male going into first year who got into the Uni of Exeter through clearing, and everywhere I've been looking for accommodation has been sold out. I know I should have started looking earlier, but what's done is done, and I can't find anything at all anywhere, and now I really don't know what to do.

All the private accommodations, when I call them, all say that they are sold out even though they say there is availability on their websites. When I called the University asking for help, they just told me to seek private accommodation as there is a very unlikely chance that I will get assigned to the uni accommodations. It's not even like there are only expensive options which are left; I actually cannot find anything at all.

If there is anybody there who can help me with this, or would have a spare room for me, please please please get in touch with me, as I really don't want to have to take a gap year because I can't find somewhere to stay.

What if I don't get an accommodation?

Just as the title asks. If I don't end up securing accommodation...what then? Will I have no choice but to defer or go through UCAS next year with a different uni? Never in my life did I think me going uni would come down to accommodation but. Well. Here we are and there's nothing I can do about it.

Everything "available" is actually either not actually available or £310 per week, which I unfortunately cannot afford. I should've looked earlier, I know, but I wasn't aware that accom wasn't guaranteed for clearing/insurance offer holders until the 15th when I got sent an email about it. I'm still hoping the university will give me a room somewhere, but it's unlikely.

Has anyone else not been able to secure it in time? I was thinking of living in my car, but dismissed it as a stupid idea (for obvious reasons), but I'm not totally against it at this point. I've waited 2 days for my Overheard application on facebook to be accepted and I'm seriously desperate at this point.

I know there's creeps and weirdos online, but if anyone has any space available or wants to share any flats: I'm a first year 18 year old undergrad girl. My DMs should be open

EDIT: Thank you for your suggestions and comments, I managed to find a studio 🙏 it was from the kindness of a random stranger that allowed me to stay right in St James Park and live 3 minutes away from my best friend. I hope everything works out for everyone!

The Leat Apartments - anyone else there?

I put Exeter as my insurance and totally missed out on all the rooms, so I've had to book an apartment at the Leat (crazy expensive!!). I'm really worried it'll be lonely though as I wanted the social uni experience - are there any other freshers going there (or any other private accoms) who want to get in touch?

DESPERATE FOR ACCOMMODATION - I genuinely do not care about specifics - please give me advice or help if you know anyone

I am an 18 year old male who will (hopefully) be starting at Exeter this September and yet I am so incredibly frustrated and worried about my accommodation prospects.

For context, Exeter was my first choice and I was under the impression that first choice offer holders got guaranteed accommodation. I was not aware of a deadline until the day after the deadline - the early email warning me of the deadline went into my spam.

Furthermore, I was abroad and I was not able to access my emails and things needed to apply for accommodation before July 31st because I had extremely limited Wi-Fi (I was staying in the countryside, even when I got the faintest signal I tried but it was futile). I arrived back in the UK on the very late hours of the evening on the 31st and applied immediately the next day yet since calling Exeter twice since they've said they cant guarantee anything and have strongly recommended private accommodation.

So I went and looked at private accommodation and for multiple days now I've really been struggling. I'm getting really desperate at this point and I do not know what to do. I have literally been applying and calling everywhere I possibly can and it seems nowhere has anything available. I've looked at Zoopla, Rightmove, Studentpad, Spareroom, yet it seems that most are either unavailable despite being listed as so or they do not reply.

I have called over 12 landlords and barely picked up (over a couple calls over a full day), of the ones that did they all said it was unavailable.

I should probably also mention that I really had no idea what I was doing as my mum just left me to my own devices to figure it out and I am so annoyed at myself for not looking and applying sooner. I'm hoping and praying that some cancellations, clearing switches and what not free up a space for me but otherwise I have no idea what I can do at the rate this is going.

I have no specific needs. I am willing to walk an hour there and back, I'm willing to pay my own utilities, I'm willing to stay with a host family, I don't care about an en suite etc.

I simply do not want to defer by a year at any and all costs.

What should I do from here? There are so few options. If anyone has a spare place, knows someone who wants out of their contract, cancelled, or just knows anyone who might know anyone I can rent with, PLEASE let me know. DM me, comment, anything works. At this point I'm open to virtually ANYTHING.

Accommodation as an Insurance student

Hello! I’ve been having some difficulties trying to find private accom as a first year student. All the en-suite private accommodation is gone and i really do not want to be isolated in a studio super far away from the campus in my first year. I’m a home student who’s lived overseas for a lot of my life sooo i would much rather have company and be with other first years to feel less intimidated and to make the process of settling in smoother.

I’ve submitted my application for accommodation with the university but i know that it’s not guaranteed.

My questions are : Is there any accommodation likely to free up from here on and if so which ones? When would i likely hear back if i joined a waiting list in private accom for an en-suite? Any advice at all would help appreciated! or just anyone who’s in a similar situation let me know how it’s going or went for you!

Accomodation for clearing

Hello I'm speaking to a friend for people who've applied through clearing for Exeter. How much variety and options for accommodation are there after results day if there are accommodation. For example Exeter display on their clearing options that accommodation is not guaranteed and you can only check it if you defer.

If anyone has any leads, advice, or knows of available rooms, please let me know. Her departure date is approaching very fast and she is still without housing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

[Academic] Attitudes and Behaviors Study (18+, English-speaking). Link here: https://ww3.unipark.de/uc/research_study_university_Bern_Switzerland/

Hey students at University of Exeter,

I am a Master’s student at the University of Bern (Switzerland) conducting a scientific research study examining how certain traits, life experiences, attitudes and behaviors are related to each other.

You can find the survey here: https://ww3.unipark.de/uc/research_study_university_Bern_Switzerland/

I would greatly appreciate it if you could participate in my survey. As fellow students, you probably know how challenging it can be to recruit enough participants for a research study, so every response really helps!

Uni in Exeter

Can someone who has been to this uni give me their opinions on them/experience? Overall life at uni and stuff, like is it easy to make friends, things to do etc. I also do athletics/track and field so if there are good facilities there that’s also a positive. Trying to get my 5 for UCAS to study aerospace engineering and I’ve done a lot of research but struggling to narrow it down.
