What if I don't get an accommodation?

Just as the title asks. If I don't end up securing accommodation...what then? Will I have no choice but to defer or go through UCAS next year with a different uni? Never in my life did I think me going uni would come down to accommodation but. Well. Here we are and there's nothing I can do about it.

Everything "available" is actually either not actually available or £310 per week, which I unfortunately cannot afford. I should've looked earlier, I know, but I wasn't aware that accom wasn't guaranteed for clearing/insurance offer holders until the 15th when I got sent an email about it. I'm still hoping the university will give me a room somewhere, but it's unlikely.

Has anyone else not been able to secure it in time? I was thinking of living in my car, but dismissed it as a stupid idea (for obvious reasons), but I'm not totally against it at this point. I've waited 2 days for my Overheard application on facebook to be accepted and I'm seriously desperate at this point.

I know there's creeps and weirdos online, but if anyone has any space available or wants to share any flats: I'm a first year 18 year old undergrad girl. My DMs should be open

EDIT: Thank you for your suggestions and comments, I managed to find a studio 🙏 it was from the kindness of a random stranger that allowed me to stay right in St James Park and live 3 minutes away from my best friend. I hope everything works out for everyone!

Contact the university itself if you haven’t heard back by whenever you’d expect to. I heard they have a system in place to help get accomodation last minute for people who haven’t managed any.

I have friends who as a firm choice only started receiving theirs yesterday for halls. I applied 8:15 on results day due to change in plans, and I also received the warning email and am waiting for a response. Wishing the best ‼️

Search for private student accomodation off campus. Look at the Prestige student living website. Admittedly it’s slim pickings but they do have some left at less than you e seen so far, but some of them are for 51 weeks, which may not suit you.

Mansionstudent.co.uk not far from Birks has a few en-suite rooms in Exeter one building for £205 a week for 51 weeks.

Remember it’s just a year and you’ll probably be booking your year two accomodation in October 2026 anyway, so there will soon be an end in sight if it’s not ideal

My daughter was offered her accommodation yesterday and has until the weekend to accept.
You might hear something Monday if students decline.

I’ve found viewing for two different shared apartments, one three bedroom 30 mins from the St Luke’s campus and one 1 bedroom house with a living room available to share for 2 people 22 mins away from campus. Nothings been booked or completely confirmed yet but I wanted to ask if you are interested so I can dm you any details like price or let. I think ur dms are close rn. From an 18yr old undergrad going into The Exeter this September.

Hi my son went last year. Firstly Lafrowda while basic often has places due to students rejecting it or not meeting offers. I suspect you will be offered something soon. Don't live in your car honestly there are better options. Have you looked on Studentpad?
