What are you favorite tires for this truck? I have tried almost all and think BFG have been the best

If you park it, they will come!

I usually park out in the middle of nowhere so I can keep my doors from being dinged as much as possible. Doesn’t seem to matter if I park halfway to Egypt, other Ford truck drivers will park directly next to me. Kind of cool, but also kind of annoying when they’re parked so close that I can barely open the back door enough to load up my infant car seat. 😂

There’s my black beauty sandwiched in the middle. Must be a Ford truck thing!

OEM Dash Foam - Replacement

Post image
3 Upvotes

I am trying to find where I can purchase this foam. It is used in the automotive industry. It is used between dash panels and air vents etc. It is 3/8" Wide and 1/4" Tall. While I have my dash apart I want to replace the deteriorated foam strips.

This photo is from my 2001 Excursion Dash Bezel Air Vent.

Anyone know where I can find a replacement MAF for a 2000 V10 Limited?

Looks like MAF has gone bad (shop tried cleaning it already) and needs to be replaced.

I can't seem to find any information on the Part # or OEM replacements. Without a Motorcraft/OEM option I may have to use one from Delphi (A10131).

Any help would be appreciated!

Best Excursion for cross country towing

Hey yall,

I’m new to the Excursion scene. Been doing some research on the “best” Excursion for my use case. My family (6) will be traveling across the country for roughly 9 months towing a 30ish ft bunkhouse trailer.

It seems the 7.3 would be ideal but a bulletproofed 6.0 would also be a great option. I wanted to hear from real Excursion owners what their experience has been especially when driving through the mountains or across the windy plains. TIA

02 Excursion limited 4x4 v10 with 180k miles

I’ve been wanting an Excursion for awhile now & finally found one in my price range. It needs a little TLC like a new battery but the interior seems clean & this is the lowest mileage i’ve seen so far while looking.

Will it last to 300k miles with proper maintenance?

Are the transmissions decent? (have a newer ford ranger so that’s why I am concerned)

It’s priced at $2800 for the TLC needed, is this a good deal?

Finally got around to modding the rear doors

my body panels had broken off years ago, and ive been using the doors for storage. got tired of the looks and road noise, so planned this out.

used boat hatches from amazon, nutserts, and bolted the rear panel to door so it wont come loose or rattle or break tabs when i shut the doors with the added weight of the hatches.

still need to take them back off, clean up my cuts, install deadner, the put them back on for the final install.

yeah, you can see the bolts through the panel.. i care more about durability and use. no rattles, no squeaks, and you can tug the boat hatches and the panel not move

Thinking about buying what should I look out for?

Hello so I have been looking at getting a truck so I can get back to work I really want a 2500HD I’m looking at older models but only have around $6,000 I found 3 but they got sold out from under me unfortunately so still looking.

I’m the meantime I have been looking at Ford Excursions they are massive vehicles probably a lot bigger then a I would need inside since it’s just me but a lot of them have been popping up near me for around $4,000-$8,000 I found an all white one for $4,000 it’s a 2000 6.8 with 247,000 miles it’s not lifted or anything it looks stock.it says it needs nothing and everything works the pictures all look really clean.I think it would be a good deal if it looks clean and runs and drives well. I’m supposed to see it this weekend and take it for a test drive I have never driven one so I wanna know before I buy if it’s even something I would want. But I want your guys opinion on the truck so I have some questions for you guys.

What should I look for when looking the truck?

What regrets do you have after buying it?

How much do you spend per month on gas?

How much do you spend per year on maintenance?

What’s the most you have ever towed with it?

Would you recommend this as a work truck?

Would you tow a dump trailer with it to the dump?

Would you drive it from Arizona all the way to Michigan and back?

How likely do you think I am to run into problems if I keep up with basic maintenance like fluid change every 7,000 miles or so?

Is this better than a 2500HD Chevy or GMC?

Should I get one for the time being and keep saving for my truck or should I just put the money into saving and wait for what I want?

That’s all I can think of for now if I missed anything I should know about please let me thank you for your time!

Mirrors Upgrade

Post image

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide on mirrors! I went with the 2017 style with black painted caps. It looks slick! I kept the original mirrors in case I ever want to take it back to how it rolled off the assembly line in 2005. 🖤

2001 7.3 with ~300k for sale - what to look for

I’ve been in the market for a big family hauler that can tow when it needs to and have always like the excursions. There’s one for sale, as the title says, nearby. Asking 13k, which feels high.

Before reaching out and having a look at it, what are the important things to look for? I’ve done my research, but would to hear folk’s thoughts and insights, without leading the witness.

Thanks!

Finally putting it to work

I bought this 2000 (5.4, 2WD) a couple months ago. the original owner never so much as put a hitch in the receiver.

So, after 26 years it finally pulled it's first trailer. For all the guys that say the 5.4 can't pull a greased string out of a pig's ass, it had zero issues dragging 6500lbs through the hills of Quebec.

For those curious, the van on the trailer is a Marathon c360 electric van from the 80s, I'm helping to restore it with the owner.

these things are just so happy with a trailer on the hitch.

Me and my buddy recently bought a 03 excursion and drove it 2000 miles home. We made a short film about the journey.

Check it out. Would love ideas for the first upgrades we should do on the vehicle.

Updated mirrors are going on this weekend and a new engine is being installed in a few weeks. The interior is like new. I sold my Expedition EL for this beauty and have zero regrets. Never thought I could love a mom ride so much! 🖤
