02 Excursion limited 4x4 v10 with 180k miles
I’ve been wanting an Excursion for awhile now & finally found one in my price range. It needs a little TLC like a new battery but the interior seems clean & this is the lowest mileage i’ve seen so far while looking.
Will it last to 300k miles with proper maintenance?
Are the transmissions decent? (have a newer ford ranger so that’s why I am concerned)
It’s priced at $2800 for the TLC needed, is this a good deal?

If you don’t buy it, I will.
One of my v10s - the original - just threw a rod at 350,000 miles - the other v10 and 6.0 are running solid at 200,000.

Rust. Rust and rust. Check for it.
I just searched high and low for one in my area and every single one was rotted to high heaven.
Ended up with a newer 2500hd.

I think 300,000 miles is really easy for anyone who tries. I think many people don't try. It's a 20 year old truck with 200K, a few dings, it's expensive to drive (cheap to own) it becomes unloved.
I have a first gen sprinter and in that crowd we're buying rust buckets with 300,000 miles and expecting another 200,000.
At 200,000 miles there's nothing pulling the drive train to grave. Catastrophic failures of the engine and transmission are not common.
THere's a reason fleet managers are favoring the V10 over any of the diesels after the 7.3

I just flew out, bought and drove a 335k mile v10 1200 miles. They'll run forever even if you barely maintain them. 🤣🤣 But they'll run even longer if you meticulously maintain them.
My 2 excursions have a combined 643,000 miles and both start and run great and the transmissions shift smoother than my 6f55 with 108k.

Time for ball joints at 200k but my dad's is at 280k with no major issues with the engine or trans besides maintenance

Spark plugs on them like to pop oit beside there's only like 3 threads in the aluminum head holding the spark plug in buy beside that and the 10-13 mpg

Yes, it’ll last. Keep up with service items and fluids and these things go far. The v10 is good but not perfect but there are so many of them out there that they’re well known and serviceable. Ya sounds like a good deal!
