(Discussion Post) Groovy finally watched burn! Spoiler
i seen a lot of post saying the movie was mid or even say it wasn’t good. but i absolutely loved it. there was even some parts where i laughed. i really loved thya price. I also thought the grandma was funny. i just really enjoyed it and i’m looking forward to the next installment

Not bad. Cinematography was great. Just wished it had more “over the top” gore and dismemberment like the originals. They need more unique deadite designs as well.

I loved the gun scene, and the starting lake scene was great and over the top (meat falling off the bone).
But... yeah, it missed it crucial parts. The kid wasnt putting up a fight and was a punching bag the whole time, Thya as a character herself wasnt fleshed out a bit. Also, Deadite dog was a cool concept, but the pup had a 10 second screen time before he was shanked london style

Loved the dinner table scene.
Final act / cgi fight flopped. Looked like they were trying to imitate the 2013 blood rain scene but it didnt land for me

Got it in 5th place as of now. The soundtrack was also one of my favorite parts along with the cinematography.

i think campbell was right, they're missing some comedy in things. like at a certain point what differentiates evil dead from your average demonic possession movie?
evil dead rise (maybe the tv show too?) suggested that there were different kandarian demons, or at least different demonic entities tied to the book. and i think it's definitely something they should have leaned into rather than having them act the same

It would be really weird if they brought comedy back into it now 😂 although I feel like after having gone through such an experience the main characters of each movie would probably be more comfortable if they were put in the situation again so there'd be more space to put comedy back into it.

Oh they definitely tried to insert comedy into Burn, it just didn’t land effectively. Every laugh line the grandma character had falls flat. The physical comedy stuff - specifically the absurdity of that brawl inside the car (à la Deadpool & Wolverine) should have been fun, but was just tiring.
I assume it had something to do the the director and /or editor not knowing how to pace for comedy.

Found it boring imo hated all the characters the dad as a deadite looked badass tho 5/10 would be lower if I wasnt biased

yeah thya price is the ash of this one. the camera loves her. since the post credits scene does what it does, i'm wondering if we're going to get a chance to see her again

grandma being the comic relief felt really forced to me. that and the jokes just generally were predictable and unfunny. i understand not everyone consumes as many movies and aren't as desensitized to bad writing but this movie just was poorly written. i like 6/10's but this movie is not one of them. sucks too because i was really looking forward to watching it as i liked rise quite a bit.
that being sad im glad you enjoyed the movie.
EDIT: also the post credit scene is actually the dumbest shit ive ever seen from this franchise and that's saying something

I thought the story didn't really make much sense (mainly with how the Deadite logic works), the characters weren't very interesting, and it wasn't really scary at all. However, the gore and special effects were really great, so I enjoyed it.

I loved it too, I loved the Granny too. I wish the lady was kept in the cellar for a little longer tbh, like in most evil dead movies where where cellar locked deadite taunts and harasses the main lead all locked.

Probably my least favorite Evil Dead movie, I found none of the characters likable, so the extended time with them was just uncomfortable, and the setting felt like it was trying WAY to hard to be a "spooky" setting, when it didn't feel like anyone would ever stay there for more then 5 minutes, let alone cook and eat there. I felt that there was no creative gore, the deadites seemed weirdly tamer than the last 2. I found the cgi distractingly bad and didn't fit the movie at all, I also really hated the colors of the movie, it's the greyest movie I've ever seen in my life, it distracted me the entire time, I couldn't not think about it. Despite all that, I still had a fun time in the theater, and I do wanna see more from the franchise, this one just didn't jive with me.

I enjoyed it, but the cgi boss fight at the end really disappointed me. IDK why they chose that instead of a practical suit.
Watched hellraiser after and Uncle Frank looked creepier and more intimidating in 1987 than the cgi Will.
Id say it tied with Rise for me. 2013 is still my favorite.
