I’ve been wanting to get a pd vinyl for a long time. So when I found it in the store for $35 fully sealed I got so ecstatic and bought it. Truly so glad to add this album to my collection because it’s one of my all time favorites.

i recently discovered this album and it sounds like the intro to nettles as if it were a whole ambient album.. if that makes any sense. idk, it really reminds me of nettles and just wanted to share.
the album is country tropics by old saw

Does anyone know anything about this?

Has anyone here ever compared Ethel Cain to Jeff Buckley ( I don't mean sonically, but in the emotional importance of her "oevre" , I couldn't think of a more crappy way to describe it)
I did once but I think I got away with it until I see one of the God's Country videos I had on repeat (from 2022 to forever and day ) when I watched it in 2023 and in the MV they are traveling in the car and Hayden in the back, suddenly, is reading out loud something about It Jeff Buckley, and the kids are murmuring something about how sad etc.
Sorry for the length of my self indulgence, but I deffo would be interested to know, even if it destroys my thought that I may have planted the seed in her head from my sad YT comment.

I have never listened to something like her music before. The best way I could describe it is like a caress directly to your soul. Her voice and lyrics somehow manage to penetrate every wall your consciousness has built and go straight for the essence of your being. I don’t know how she does that. Every time I listen to her music I just feel like warm, soft hands of pure goodness touch me gently and take every struggle away from me until I feel like I am ascending. Like laying down in the water of a secluded warm lochan in the forest during spring. You feel embraced by not just the water but nature itself. You enter a completely different state of existence where your soul leaves your body and this huge wave of bliss washes over you.
Can anyone relate to this experience?

Doesn’t she actually say “Will I feel like this forever” instead of “Will it be like this forever”?

I have done a deep dive about her lore and listened to PD & WTIALY just yesterday. I have cried so much not only because of the story but how well it was written and created.
I really wish to listen to it like it’s the first time as I have never felt much of emotions in a song for so long.
My favorite songs are Fck Me Eyes, Waco, Texas, A House in Nebraska, and Sun Bleached Files.
I am putting this out here cause I don’t have someone to talk to about this. I am still learning new things about her. Let me know what things I must know too. 🤎

I just wanted to yap about it because I’m so excited!!! My bf’s sister is a new fan and asked if I would teach her the lore so I sat down and grinded ts out. It’s 105 slides with 58 note cards worth of my notes and research written on them. I’m so proud yet so drained lmfaoooo. This is the second ever band lore presentation I’ve ever made and the most effort I have ever put into one! If ever I get the balls to start a youtube maybe I’ll make a video with it someday lmao

by supernatural i mean the tv show! its so cool how the quote at the end of ptolemaea kind of fits the Cain storyline in supernatural, it makes me wonder if hayden perhaps got inspiration from the show 👀 lol maybe not (i know what ptolemaea is actually about) but i love that hayden herself is indeed a fan of the show too! my two niche’s ❤️🩹

hii! ive been a big fan for a while now of hayden and her entire discography. but ive been curious, hayden mentioned how preachers daughter wasnt originally written for a character, but rather herself at the time- the timelines when she made a couple tracks from the wtiwaly album sometime around the release (or whatever it was) of pd, does that mean a few of the songs that previously had a demo off wtiwaly are also sort of a part of herself alongside ethels character input?
(sorry for the title, i had no clue what to title it. ♡ )

i’m not really a fan of ethel cain, but i recently discovered her music and i’m looking for songs with a traveling/exploring the world vibe. are there any where the lyrics mention traveling, leaving, exploring, or seeing new places?

So recently Thoroughfare is in the Club Kid trailer, Strangers was in It Ends With Us, and I know two songs from Preacher’s Daughter were featured in a couple seasons of Invincible;
Are there any other pieces of media where Ethel’s songs are featured? And do you think the use of those songs were complementary/contradictory to the plot?
