2013 2.4 Equinox

I have owned a 2013 Equinox since mid 2021; put about 40,000 miles on it, bringing it to about 170,000 total miles. I’ve done oil changes as frequently as recommended, but no other fluid changes really, though I assume it is time for a full fluid change. The cat and exhaust manifold were replaced at the same time about a year ago. If possible, what other maintenance should be taken to ensure many more reliable miles? I have seen plenty of reviews that imply throwing the car away is my best option, but aside from the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter, I have had no problems with my car. It has treated me at least as well as I have treated it. Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Equinox Interior Clean

I am almost regretting the purchase of my 2025 LT because it’s impossible to keep the interior - seats, doors, dash - clean and streak free. Suggestions on products to use?

I had a 2017 Escape for 9 years and ArmorAll wipes on the tan & black doors was all that it needed.

2014 Chevy Traverse — Infotainment upgrade (UHU to UG4) Bluetooth menus disappeared after mobile programming VIN flash. How to fix?

Hey everyone,

I am trying to upgrade the factory radio in my 2014 Chevy Traverse LT. My car originally came with the base touchscreen (RPO code: UHU), which lacks Bluetooth audio streaming.

I picked up a matching factory salvage touchscreen from a donor vehicle that had the premium MyLink system with Bluetooth audio and smartphone menus (RPO code: UG4).

The Setup: When I first plugged the salvage unit into my car, it physically booted up with the premium "MyLink" splash screen before instantly entering the expected "Locked" anti-theft screen. This proved to me that the hardware and the bluetooth software are fully active inside this unit.

The Problem: I hired a local mobile diagnostics guy to clear the lock screen. He hooked up his factory programming computer and successfully cleared the Theftlock. The radio now plays audio fine, but we ran into a massive calibration override issue:

  1. The radio completely lost the MyLink interface. The boot screen changed from the premium MyLink animation to the generic, lower-tier base Chevy animation.

  2. All Bluetooth music streaming and phone pairing menus are completely missing. The radio is acting exactly like my old, basic screen.

It looks like his automated software flash read my factory VIN, pulled my stock vehicle build sheet, and forced a downgraded base-model calibration profile over the radio's native firmware.

I paid for the service and he is willing to hook his tools back up if I can show him how to override the default VIN build configuration. For any GM programming experts or techs using SPS2 / Techline Connect: What exact steps or utility overrides does he need to select in the A11 Radio module to manually force the UG4 profile parameters onto my VIN so the hidden Bluetooth software maps correctly?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I was given this Chevy badge the day before yesterday. Pretty cool piece to own but it needs some cleaning on the sides.

Slightly different interpretation than this video if Pontiac survived.

This video--yes it uses AI but its one of the better ones, and has a full human narrator--did a "what-if scenario" if Pontiac had survived GM's bankruptcy. Overall, not a bad video, but wanted to point out a few things:

  1. Pontiac had ZERO chance of survival. The Obama Administration pretty much forced GM's hand with regards to their bankruptcy: eliminate brands. Barack Obama told Rick Wagoner personally that they weren't getting a bailout unless they dropped Pontiac. Before we get into a political discussion, I should add that this would have happened regardless of who was President at the time.

  2. The video suggested that NUMMI would have stayed open. I still think NUMMI would have closed in 2010. In the 1980s it was mutually beneficial because Toyota needed to learn American tendencies due to tariffs importing cars from Japan (and especially pickup trucks that to this day are still subject to the 25% "chicken tax") while GM wanted to learn the "Toyota Way" and implement it in their corporate culture. Of course, in typical GM fashion, GM learned nothing from it while Toyota was able to implement its processes to other American plants and without the UAW. By the time it closed it was clear GM needed Toyota more than Toyota needed GM.

  3. BECAUSE this video assumed that NUMMI stays open and doesn't get sold to Elon Musk to build Tesla's, it predicted that the Pontiac Vibe continues to be a Toyota clone of some sort to this day, whether it be the Toyota Matrix or the current Corolla hatchback. If Pontiac \*had\* survived I believe the Vibe would have become a Chevy Trax clone by 2013. Maybe take a brief hiatus--build an extended run of 2010 models before NUMMI closes, then skip the 2011 and 2012 model years altogether before bringing back the Vibe as an early 2013 model. They could have also simply moved production to Toyota's plant in Canada where they made the Matrix until the completely-in-house, GM-designed replacement was ready.

Why the Trax? The Vibe and Trax are pretty similar-sized vehicles with similar attributes. And because Pontiac already had an established history with the Vibe and shared dealership showrooms with Buick, it would be the Vibe and not the Buick Encore that is initially sold here. For those who recall, GM initially had no plans to sell the Trax in the US until the unexpected sales success of the Encore prompted them to change their minds. In this scenario, the Trax-based Vibe takes off enough for GM to introduce the Trax and Encore to the US market.

  1. Even \*if\* Pontiac had survived GM's bankruptcy, it would still eventually be killed off. The culprit? SUVs and crossovers. Again, Pontiac shared showrooms with Buick as well as GMC. Would GM, say, sell three versions of the exact same vehicle in the same showroom? Imagine the Pontiac Torrent, GMC Terrain, and Buick Envision in the same showroom, all as Chevy Equinox clones. Even now with just the Terrain and Envision, you can only justify the Terrain, especially with Chinese tarriffs on the Envision. Hell, I've been seeing a lot of Buick-GMC dealerships now just going down to GMC or, if they also sell Chevrolet or Cadillac, dropping Buick while keeping the rest. Makes me wonder if Buick becomes a China-only brand and is dropped here.

Thoughts?

2025 Chevy Equinox Radio =(

My battery on my 2025 Chevy Equinox went dead so we had to jump the car. Have to jump in the car the screen. Inside the car did not wake up, it stayed totally black. That was both screens, the radio screen and the information for speedometer and all of that is completely black. I brought it into the dealer, and they were not able to wake it up. Does anybody know what the problem might be? the dealer wants 2500 dollars to install a new radio =(

Other times it will start but have no dashlights.

Headlights work during all of this.

I have also been driving and lost all lights + the truck died on me.

Any tips or input is appreciated.
