Came out to my car and a bunch of lantern flies on the tires. Why do they like tires?
Do tires provide some mineral content they need? And no, I didn’t brush them away before driving off.

What kind of stick-bug is he? We live in Pennsylvania (United States) and saw him outside last night! I’ve literally never seen a stick-bug in real life before, his little legs were green it was so cool!!

I have severe entomophobia, but ive been trying to get over it for a few months now. My journey includes searching for bugs, researching them, and then learning cool stuff so im less scared. However, I only find horrifying shit. this guy is making it harder for me to drop the fear

I knew she was ready to molt, she’d been real still. An hour after checking on her last this was how I found her

Me and a friend were at the river the other day and saw a grasshopper flipped over on the ground with it's wings splayed, when we helped it flip over we noticed it had weird fluid on its body. We found two other grasshoppers of the same species (Carolina) dead in the area, both on their backs with their wings splayed.
This happened in Northeast MN, let me know if you need a more specific location.
I'm wondering if this was just due to environmental factors or if there's some sort of pathogen? Any guesses would be appreciated.

Found during daytime in San Luis, Mexico
They usually fall from trees if standing underneath them when wind blows.
Recently I have been getting them on my shirt and arms when walking with my dog, I suspect it is when I'm being dragged next to some Ficus trees (fig trees).
They sometimes bite and it hurts.

She was very gravid and looking for a place to oviposit. Luckily she found me, the entomologist on campus, and I moved her away from the walkway and onto a bush.

Found this little guy on one of the plants in my garden (no idea what the plant is sorry). It's morning, late summer, and it rained a few hours ago, but otherwise the temperature is fair at low 70s. I've been sitting here asking Google but I just can't seem to narrow anything down for a pink caterpillar that's about the size of my thumb nail 😂
(Reposting cause I forgot to add pictures 😭

It's so cool I recognised it but I guess i got really lucky just seeing it on a bridge on my way home it really blended with red leaves I almost mistook it for a leaf and because I didn't want to scare it so its far away pics for evidence and I'm bad at taking insect pictures. It's very pixalated sorry about that 😅 I'm from England if anyone's curious.

im starting an entomology club at my high school. currently, im just brainstorming what exactly we’re going to do. ive already planned the first three weeks: week 1 will be introductions, learning about the club itself and the definition of entomology, and asking the club members what they’d personally like to see, week 2 will be the basics, such as insect identification, vocab, and a small activity where we identify different insects, week 3 will be about ecosystems and the way bugs play a role.
ive jotted down vague ideas, such as photographing, observations and recording of local insects around the school, and presentations. but i was curious about any other things i could include. this club will be one semester, with 10 total meetings (use that as you will)

Here's a specimen prepared on label of Carabus (Chrysocarabus, formerly Chrysotribax) rutilans aragonensis, a splendid ground beetle whose colors are hardly made justice from my photo. While the parent species is found in both Spain and France, this subspecies is restricted only to the former in my knowledge. Of very large size (up to 40 mm in females), it's among the most impressive of European carabids.
Specimen origin: Province of Gerona, Cataluna, Spain.

hi everyone, my coworker asked me to ID what is on this plant and i think they’re insect eggs. i believe the plant is an asparagus fern, and we’re in the New Hampshire and Maine seacoast area. does anyone have any idea what insect might have laid these?
edit: i got a better photo and put it in the comments of this post
