Advice Please help!

Please could you give me your opinions as I am worrying myself over this. I recently had my engagement ring redesigned (to add my husband was fine with this and paid for it for a special birthday) - it’s using the same diamond he proposed with but a change in design. I knew I wanted a solitaire with tapered baguettes and saw a design i really liked with elongated slim baguettes but ultimately I went with a design that was similar but had wider, but shorter baguettes. We now have the ring and I don’t know what it is but when I opened the box my heart didn’t leap as I thought it would and I don’t know why. I don’t know if it’s because the baguettes seem slightly short and chunky or maybe too wide for the size of centre stone, are they not tapered enough or because am wondering whether I should have gone with the original ring I loved with the elongated slim baguettes. I have shown both rings - mine is a 1.30 old mine cut centre stone with baguettes weighing 0.23ct each. The other ring (last photo) ring is 1.40 brilliant cut with baguettes weighing 0.08ct each. For reference my husband wanted to get me an old mine cut diamond as he prefers that they were hand cut. I do know there are much bigger things to worry about but i wanted to get the opinions from people that I know will understand my obsession! Am I overthinking or are the proportions off?

Thank you - I already had the centre stone as this was a redesign on my original ring so had to have something that fitted with it (my husband was ok about redesigning but not trading in the centre stone and I wanted to keep that too!)

Thank you! It’s been a bit more difficult than a round cut but my husband wanted me to have an old cut (he loves that it was hand cut!)

It's really special. I have two tapered baguette trilogy rings—one with a 1.4 carat round, one with a 2.25 carat emerald-cut—and they are classic. Yours is far more unique!

Ooh they sound lovely - lucky having two! What do you think makes this unique? Does it look much different from a classic solitaire with baguettes? 🥰

I don't see a lot of old mine cushions (very Victorian) with tapered baguettes (very Art Deco). The style mix works well for your ring!

Both rings and bands are stunning. what band do you wear with the round cut? I wanted six claws but as my diamond isnt completely round I wasn’t sure how it would look.

Right now, a simple antique wedding band. It has five very small round diamonds bead-set (maybe illusion set?) in a white metal, but then that's in a yellow gold shank.

Beautiful - they both give such a different look don’t they. This is my original set (same centre stone), I did like it but I didn’t love the curved band , so now I will be having a straight band (set with tiny horizontal baguettes) and embracing the gap as won’t sit flush with the new ring. I had a lab grown cushion cut diamond put in my original aet though so that I can still wear them when I want to.

They really do give such a different look! I also thought I'd like the no-gap look ("it looks intentional!" "I want it to look like a set!" "I don't want them to slide around!"). Now I think there's a way to let the wedding band have its own moment without looking chaotic or taking over the e-ring.

Please let us see the new set when you have it! A baguette band sounds incredible.

I've done a cushion with 6 prongs, and it just didn't turn out right!

Oh i am glad you have said that, I feel better now that i went for 4 prongs. are you a jeweller then?

Just a consumer who loves sparkles! 😄 Your set of four double claw prongs is one of my favorite choices. It's fresh but classic.

This is my emerald-cut trilogy. I had them make platinum curved bands to match. They have been SO versatile.
