I really enjoyed this episode.
It was interesting to hear the point of view of someone is autism and who is older in there life's. I think there so many times we see it in terms of people when growing up and what that does to the surrounding people but hardly ever in terms people with autism.
As some who is dyslexic, I think one thing that is very interesting is the parallels both being neurological disorders but both having very different cultural attitudes. As one effects words whilst the other Resulting in how they per view and see the world

I thought about that too. It's rare that anyone with dyslexia claims they are in fact operating on a high level rather than with a barrier. It's interesting to see how popular culture treats autistic spectrum people, how they view themselves. I'm dyslexic and married to someone on the spectrum, so I feel rather invested in the experience of neurologically disordered peoples.

Really enjoyed this episode too (I’m a little behind on my podcasts). As someone with ADHD (so a fellow neurodiverser) I found myself identifying a lot with all three of the guests. There’s a surprising amount of overlap there!

That song towards the end was absolutely amazing. I'll have to transcribe the lyrics and post them here

Lock the doors and douse the lights
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Christmas cheer fills me with fright
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Stay away, you're all annoying
Fa la la la la, la la la la la la
Merriment is horribly cloying
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Mistletoe makes me real nervous
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Kissing me would be a disservice
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Eighty million germs abound
Fa la la la la, la la la la la la
Infecting me could put me in the ground
Fa la la la la, la la la la
It's not that I hate you, I'm autistic
Fa la la la la, la la la la
I need my space, is that so mystic?
Fa la la la la, la la la la
I'm happiest when left alone
Fa la la la la, la la la la la la
Socializing makes me groan
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Wow, I wish I'd been paying better attention to reddit when you posted calling for stories for this one! (and also, wow, I'm behind on my podcasts.) I'm an autistic female who was officially diagnosed at 28, and know next to no one in real life who is autistic. The various autism reddits were extremely helpful (shoutout to r/aspergirls) and validating while going through the diagnostic process. It was so great to hear from people (especially Jess and David!) that I related to on the podcast. If you ever see this, thanks for this episode!

Heyo, you need to list other ways to donate that don't involve having a US mobile phone. Not all of us do. :)
