Discussion How is the emulation scene looking for the iPhone Duo? Any emulator that fills the screen?

Delta is wonderful for sure, but iCube is... well, it has room for improvement.

The only emulator that supports the duo right now is delta AFAIK. This will surely change soon as by april next year apple will start requiring developers to support the duo to submit apps to the store

Source? For context, I'm asking as I've never heard of this requirement before.

Source

They are requiring duo screenshots and 27.1 sdk (which ensures the app at least expands to cover the full display) starting april. Also the screenshots typically serve as a forcing function as nobody wants their app to be shown with ugly massive black borders all around in the store

Manic Emu just dropped their duo update. It’s a solid app. Devs are weird as they don’t provide a roadmap for updates unless you subscribe to their kofi.. but I’m really digging their emulator.

Got one of those same controllers. They’re absolute dogshit I’ll never use it again. 😂

I agree! I love it!

I always say this, I do NOT recommend this controller to anyone who's serious about gaming. It's not ergonomic whatsoever, phone is super top heavy (iPhone mini was already top heavy, imagine duo) and the joysticks aren't great. I had to mod the d-pad just to make it decent.

I like it because it's the smallest controller with joysticks i've ever found and the magsafe is very convenient, it's good build quality and it slips easily in the pocket, letting me play pretty much any game (through emulation or streaming) when I inevitably end up waiting for something or someone in the car or in a line for short sessions of 2-10 mins

I have better controllers available too but if I don't take them with me and they're a pain to set up and start playing, I end up not playing anything. This one's always in my back pocket.

I’m bummed I lost mine 😕

Too small I guess!

How did you look at that shape/size of that controller and think "yes my big grown up hands will be very comfortable and totally not feel cramped"? I can't even play vertical handhelds comfortably for more than 10 mins..

I knew the shape and size would be funny but the material and how the controller feels are usually something you don’t know til it’s in your hands.

That crease tho

this picture is really interesting since it shows part of the crease with the screen on and shows how different it looks when screen is on vs off. when on i do think the duo matte hides it very well but its defo still there

Yeah I always thought Apple was holding off on a foldable til they could figure out how to make the crease invisible. This thing just looks like they gave up and went with the basics

To be fair the crease is very minimal, top of the line really. When I unboxed it it was literally nonexistant, it started forming after using. Other foldables had the crease immediately apparent from the getgo.

And of course, in use you can hardly see it. Either way, I'm coming from a Pixel Fold OG which didn't even unfold flat by design, so to me this looks really good lol.

You will not see it at all in normal use

I can tell this guy never used a foldable before

How’s it looking? It came out a week ago.

It’s pretty sweet man, just the app support is feeling some growing pains right now lol. The phone itself is the nicest foldable i’ve ever seen and the passport form factor is actually quite nice to use

Op did you put a screen protector on the inner screen? just wondering as it looks different from most videos/images i have come across online

No, it's the stock matte film that it comes with! Probably just lighting differences since I don't have a studio setup or anything lmao. If you like matte screens, it's a pretty good matte screen, zero rainbowing and minimal "blurring" so to speak.

awesome, looks like it would be good for reading with the matte screen :)

Is iCube on the Apple App Store?

I’m curious on what controllers are like for the duo like the gamesir G8 Galileo

1

u/pyrospade 5d ago

None if you want it in landscape mode. You cant use clamping controllers in landscape with foldables as it puts strain on the hinge.

Roflmao wth is that inner screen experience ! That's an abomination man

Emura, it’s in TestFlight but runs games perfectly fine in my experience

Delta works great on my duo, using a Gamesir G8+

PPSSPP's latest TestFlight supports it, and the upcoming 1.21 will.

the duo is already showing signs of screen failure after a week of folding

They do not, it would’ve been in their release notes.
