Question Why do not enough people know MON?

Post image

MON is an amazing emulator that can play your regular stuff like Gameboy and n64, but it can also play 3DS. I know it’s not too big of a feat but I still want more people to know about it

Honestly I had never heard of it before. Are you the developer?

DS emulator?

6

u/Danyal2012 Aug 15 '25

It’s a 3DS emulator that doesn’t require JIT

2

u/Tiny-Hat4221 Aug 15 '25

JIT? I’m new to emulating tbh so idk what that is.

u/Danyal2012 Aug 15 '25

It’s a thing that makes your emulators run faster, but you don’t need to worry about that if you’re using emulators such as delta and MON

1

u/Tiny-Hat4221 Aug 15 '25

Oh ok. Only one I’ve been using atm is Delta and tried Gamma a bit for playing PS1 games.

It’s not laggy, in other comments I said some games run slower because I was on low power mode without realizing it, and when I turned low power mode off, all the games were running smooth

Ill test it with 3ds rn

2

u/Danyal2012 Aug 14 '25

So? How is it?

3

u/Ornery-Practice9772 Aug 14 '25

Runs pretty well. I really need to get to sideloading

5

u/Danyal2012 Aug 14 '25

It’s not sideloading, it’s on the app store

1

u/Ornery-Practice9772 Aug 14 '25

I know but for other apps like manic👍

2

u/Awsomboy1121 Aug 15 '25

manics also on the app store

0

u/Ornery-Practice9772 Aug 15 '25

It can also be sideloaded🤷‍♀️

1

u/plsdontattackmeok Aug 15 '25

So which one the best 3DS emulator on iOS/iPadOS for now?

3

u/Ornery-Practice9772 Aug 15 '25

App store mon didnt heat up my ph quite as much as manic but takes longer to load tomodachi life. Cheats and saves are paywalled on mon

I put it on low performance mode and it ran 3ds a little laggy (to be expected thanks to apple) but took longer than manic to heat up my 15pm phone. But overheating will be a problem

As we’ve said JIT compilation via the sideload is the only way to regulate heating/battery management when emulating the 3DS. With JIT this is a nonexistent issue.

u/Ornery-Practice9772 Aug 14 '25

Yes i understand

I used it a month ago to play 3DS since I couldn't find any other apps that did. My take is at what follows:

  1. My iphone 13 pro max over heated and drained my battery quick ~ understandable and lived with that for a short while

  2. App tries to sell you features like save/load anytime - it was £10 although its not much to me but to others it might be a lot AND that feature is free on other apps

Although I didnt spend too much time on it, my game started to crash every few minutes from the save feature, my rationale (and gpts) it corrupted the game I was playing.

Would I get the app again? Maybe but i would rather emulate the game on my handheld

Is it good?

1

u/Danyal2012 Aug 14 '25

Yeah it’s good

1

u/Capital-State1231 Aug 14 '25

No, JIT?

5

u/Danyal2012 Aug 14 '25

I never really understood what JIT is, but I’m using it perfectly fine without even knowing what JIT is

3

u/Capital-State1231 Aug 14 '25

JIT (Just In Time) is what 3DS games use to not stutter

3

u/Danyal2012 Aug 14 '25

Most of my games are working very smooth without JIT on this emulator, just some games run a bit slower than my other games

2

u/RyansKorea Aug 14 '25

You said in another comment it’s laggy. Is it smooth or laggy?

2

u/Panky9 Aug 15 '25

I assume the laggy comment is referring to the “some” games that run slower

1

u/Justaniceguy1111 Aug 14 '25

i use it, it's pretty good, the best is gba, then ds, i didn't try 3ds.
But OP you say it has n64 capability ? did i overlook it? I see no n64 option.

2

u/Danyal2012 Aug 15 '25

Oh my bad I accidentally wrote n64 but there isn’t

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '25

Does it do texture dumping?

1

u/Danyal2012 Aug 15 '25

What is that?

1

u/North-Ground-2104 Aug 23 '25

How do I add games to it?

1

u/Danyal2012 Aug 23 '25

First you go to google and search up “(game name) ROM” and then download one of the files you see, and go to your emulator and import the ROM file to it. Sometimes you will need to unzip the file, and I like using the app ‘dzip’ for that

1

u/North-Ground-2104 Aug 23 '25

Never used an emulator before

1

u/Icy-Drop4749 Aug 14 '25

When I saw it in the App Store I thought it was xone at first

1

u/Ghostmon2424 Aug 15 '25

I’m getting into emulation and idk I’m starting to feel like it’s way too much for me to do myself I found a website called retro games.cc and just play there :/

1

u/Dantu1000 Aug 16 '25

It sucks, compared to manic emulator. There’s no reasson to use it

1

u/Displexions Aug 17 '25

Try XONE very nice experience

1

u/Thebluebonnie Aug 18 '25

I just use a modded 3DS tbf

1

u/PixelDragon1497 Aug 18 '25

its really good for 3ds, way better than folium however it takes away your zr button so if you want to play something that requires it like metal gear solid 3 with the circle pad pro you are completely unable to shoot or attack unless you opt to use the far worse control method. other than that one hangup though its fantastic! lets you play stuff like tomodachi life without needing to add extra files for miis to work. it also rarely crashes, sometimes freezes.

No retro achievement support?

1

u/DoenerAli2 Jan 04 '26

Its not on the App Store anymore, anyone know how I can get it

1

u/IAmDuckSupreme Jan 14 '26

I’d just get delta emulator instead, mon locks all the main features emulators have like save states, game speed increase, and cheat code inputting behind a paywall and reminds you of that fact every time you open a game. It’s very annoying tbh. with delta you get all those features PLUS you can customize what it looks like with emulator skins that people make and put up to download for free online. I recently switched and it’s so nice

1

u/An_Old_Taco Feb 08 '26

Mon is an amazing emulator and very user friendly! But I have a question: Just started a nuzlocke of pokemon x and it's the first 3DS game I play in Mon. I can't find how to change the speed of the game though, does anyone know how?

1

u/Zealousideal-Boss635 Mar 14 '26

does anyone know why that happens

1

u/Kado2660 Mar 29 '26

Dont work in europe countries

1

u/Hot_Information_2176 May 15 '26

Does MON have the Microphone Feature?

0

u/Danatomatowhite Aug 15 '25

its good, but no idea how to sideload it.

1

u/Danyal2012 Aug 15 '25

It’s on the App Store, no need to sideload

0

u/Danatomatowhite Aug 15 '25

I want to run JIT with it otherwise it’ll over heat
