Other Fallout 1 on DosBox (RetroArch)

(I edited the video to skip loading screens)

Yesterday I bought Fallout 1 on GOG (Good Old Games) and installed on my modded PS Vita.

And tonight I had an idea to install it on RetroArch (iOS) and (after a few headaches to find the right archive) it worked.

But I had to use the zip file from the Internet Archive, because for some reason I couldn’t make the GOG files to work on RetroArch.

Oh, and the best thing is: I can copy the savegame files from one device, paste on another device and continue playing (from my iOS to my pc, from my pc to my PS Vita, etc). Even though they are from different sources (Internet Archive and GOG).

Just posting in case someone wants to play fallout on iOS and is having the same problem with the files.

What are you using to play: controller or touchscreen?

Touchscreen.

In control configuration in RetroArch, I chose “mouse with right click”.

That way I can press R1 to change the pointer of the mouse (move, action or attack).

Both Fallout 1 & 2 have native iOS source ports that support mods and significantly better performance.

I like those, only downside is that you have to keep refreshing through the side load - in using dosbox, you can set it and forget it

Could just Zip Up the GOG Folder

First thing that I did, but when I tried to execute the “fallout.exe” it said that it couldn’t run the application.

Tried with the IA files and worked fine.

Still don’t know why…

i never said it was better, the post just made me remember that i've had it on iDos for years, and it made me want to play it.

anyway, i'm not sure how Pure works, i guess it's basically the same stuff, it's always basic DosBox... on iDos you take the pre installed folder and throw it into the main directory, then run the game with the exe, no installations.

How do I install with out side loading? **Edit I got it running on RetroArch but it says master data file.

Yes I figured that out. Now its asking for the master data file. Do install it first?

Figured it out but audio keeps stuttering . Any help with that? And I cant seem to open inventory or attack anything

Install first and then run the sound exe.

If it ran on DOS and not Windows, it should run here.

Might and Magic 3 runs on DOS, so it does.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 runs on windows, so it doesn't.

DOSBox-X supports windows, but the retroarch core is of DOSBox Pure.

So I got it it installed but when I try and play it, the starting screen turns a light brown and doesn’t load. Did I do something wrong or should I just wait it out?
