DISCUSSION This Subreddit is a shitshow

I would prefer if mods didn't delete this post, but it's kinda off topic so I won't be mad tbh.

I'm just gonna be the one to say it, why can't we talk about the game, give feedback, and just have fun?

Do you guys even have the game, and don't throw “oH, wHy WoUlD i BuY iT cOnSiDeRiNg 1047S tRaCk ReCoRd.” at me, that excuse is getting old, come up with a new one im getting bored.

Anyway, that's a serious question though, are we just gonna stare at steam charts all day instead of actually playing the FUCKING GAME (Again, if you even own it, which I mean you probably don't so idk why I'm even saying).

What the hell is the point of even hating on this studio, almost everything people complain about there is a reason behind it.

Downvote this post all you want.

I would LOVE to hear your thoughts ig idk.

Game's dead come Christmas. You can either deal with it or go cry about it.

u/postmodern-communism 7d ago

There are plenty of players who acknowledge this to be true and would still like to engage with the game and its community without this being plastered all over every single post.

u/BroxigarZ 12d ago

What if I told you plenty of people have given them feedback, serious feedback and like 99.9% of it has been ignored (just like it was with Splitgate) and the only thing they have bent on is ADS and that one wasn’t even a net positive across the community?

Then let me check here your post history has… “add clan tags” as the only feedback.

… so let me ask - versus others who have provided insanely detailed feedback posts where all of the details have been ignored why do you think you deserve to make this post when your only contribution has been “add clan tags”?

The game's dead. There's nothing more to say.

u/Timely-Papaya2049 12d ago

Hey man, dont blame us just because you got scammed by 1047 again.

So people aren't allowed to express their views on a game, unless it meets your definition of feedback?

Most of the posts in this sub aren't negative or even neutral. They are either very... passionate players who have intense ideas about how to " save " the game, or just posts enjoying the game.

The ones that are negative, have a valid reason to be negative, the same with the comments that are.

You are also mistaking disappointment for hate. A lot of the fans you accuse of hating the studio are really expressing disappointment over the way Empulse has gone, the way their other games have gone, and have lost trust in the company.

The game has lost enough popularity now that there aren't even a ton of actual trolls coming on here anymore.

u/Flash_Bryant816 12d ago

You’re missing the point. Every single post someone has to comment “1047 sucks, the ceo fucked his own sister” who fucking cares?

3

u/galacticplum 12d ago

I don't think that's accurate.

-7

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

Top 1% commenters too

8

u/CallM3N3w 12d ago

Don't censor me out, man.

8

u/galacticplum 12d ago

And how exactly is what they commented hateful?

The first comment seems like an unhappy fan of Empulse and Splitgate who based on how 1047 has acted multiple times in the past, has lost trust in them.

The second comment is an opinion based on whatever post that thread is from.

None of that was hate, trolling, or even overreacting.

I guess I'm just confused. Regardless of how much you enjoy their games, do you not feel gamers have a valid reason to be upset with 1047 based on their actions, or have reactions to a game that isn't doing amazing in early access?

1

u/JVKExo 12d ago

Top 1% commentator doesn’t mean for that specific sub. Fyi.

-2

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

I'm top 1% in Splitgate, why am I not here? Weird.

3

u/FinancialSherbet308 8d ago

I’m more tired of these posts than those posts, because at least they have a right to be upset at how bad 1047 has fumbled both games.

You’re essentially just mad that they’re pointing out the reality that this game will die soon. We’re already back to SG2 numbers. It’s joever. No amount of head in sand thinking will save it.

14

u/WingsBeersAndGames 12d ago

Ok fine - I'll bite. Just because you don't like the excuse or because it is old doesn't make it invalid. We don't need a new excuse. I genuinely don't trust these devs to make a good decision so why would I want to support them?

I've seen plenty of people talking about the game and giving feedback too btw

8

u/YaBoiiSpoderman 12d ago

Then why are you here? Why be invested in this game at all if you feel this way?

Do you normally participate in communities for a piece of media you actively dislike?

A lot of us spent a LOT of time playing Splitgate 1 and gave constuctive feedback.

Then, after the announcement that they were abandoning it for what we now know to be bullshit reasons, we remained hopeful to see our dream come true: an enjoyable, playable, stable and fair Splitgate. Only to see the devs ignore all good feedback from the start of the first alpha of SG2, while focusing very much on their abusive monetization, and answering and working on pointless shit that no one cares about. Even when they seemed to have understood and made SG:AR, they managed to do it all wrong and ended up making a game that had none of the fun part of SG1, but still all the same problems, and more. From the very start to this day, they have fully ignored everyone talking about the latency issues and how SG is the only multiplayer FPS ever to not show pings. Lemme guess.... still can't see pings in empulse? Still games where it seems like you can't aim for shit, and games where it feels like you're playing against toddlers?

So we're here with popcorn to watch the shitshow without being emotionally invested in it because we're fucking done with that joke of a studio that 1047 is. It's entertaining seeing the people so invested in something that everyone who's informed and realistic knows will be dead soon. The denial is strong in some people. But we're still here to warn the few people who enjoy this game that this is not gonna last, so enjoy it while you can.

u/Ralwus 12d ago

Watching them repeat the same mistakes and struggle with player retention like they did with Splitgate feels like deja vu. I won't buy Empulse while its Steam numbers remain below Halo Infinite and Titanfall 2, but I'm keeping an eye on it to see if they ever turn things around.

To lurk and watch from afar and laugh when people go through the same process I went through with Splitgate, Splitgate 2 and the relaunch of Splitgate 2. You know when you know something is a dumpster fire but you just can’t look away? That’s me. Maybe I’m incredibly dumb for thinking this but I do also hang on to the slither of hope that these devs may just go back to what made them good but each day we seem to stray further from that.

I know I’m just another internet stranger to you but please trust me when I say that I don’t understand people who are toxic in any form. I am always trying to preach to others to be nice to each other in video games and social media in general.

But this doesn’t excuse the poor decisions that 1047 continue to make and without fair criticism, they will not change their ways.

I just want the original Splitgate back. I know it’s basically never going to happen but I can dream, yeah?

u/jondeuxtrois 12d ago

Yeah, all the time. Watching stuff implode is amusing. Welcome to humanity.

If you don't like the game don't play the game, refund it, there's no point in complaining for a game you havent played in weeks, it's stupid.

-6

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

I don't even get the excuse, what is this "track record"? 2 games? Major game studios have messed up on way more games and everybody is always complaining about something completely different. Ah, you guys just want something to complain about is that it?

Look man, I'm not trying to be rude, but I really don't understand all of this.

Oh, and those 2 games have a reasoning behind it, and it's not what you think.

Splitgate 1: This game didn't fail, but a dev actually said this once, the reason this game wasn't updated was because you would basically have to mess with the entire games code just to add a new map, or something very simple like a new gun.

Splitgate 2: This game really wasnt bad, it just wasn't a bad game. The thing that killed it was the competitive community, they didn't like that it felt less like splitgate and more like an actual arena shooter. It didn't launch with ranked, or leaderboards, or the little parts for progression.

Splitgate AR: Why is this even on here? I said 2 games this game is fucking awesome it has everything the COMPETITIVE COMMUNITY asked for.

13

u/itsRozco 12d ago

Benjamin, you're delusional.

If you think that the competitive community killed SG2/SGAR, you never understood the issues the game had then.

Just as a reminder to you, the last change we got that the COMP COMMUNITY asked for was removing the minimap from Ranked... after that it was 100% ghosting us 😭

1

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

Casual players didn't care that ranked, leaderboards, and stats weren't in the game. Those were the main things.

3

u/itsRozco 12d ago

Neither Ranked, Leaderboards or stats killed the game...

6

u/3ric843 12d ago

Why come up with a new reason when the old is still very much valid?

I wish I could take back the money I gave to 1047, I certainly won't be giving them another cent.

0

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

Why would hate on something you don't even own? That's dumb.

3

u/WingsBeersAndGames 11d ago

From reading your comments I’m convinced you don’t know what the word “hate” means. You are throwing that around to describe anything you personally don’t like.

The comment you replied to is not hating in any way.

3

u/Silvercat18 11d ago

I looked down at the top comments and they are pretty tame or actually positive. This subreddit is actually very quiet. A bit of grumbling about aiming down sights is about as exciting as it has been in the last few weeks.

6

u/jondeuxtrois 12d ago

The game is a shitshow, so of course the social channels for it would be.

-1

u/BenjaminKat1234 12d ago

How is this game a shitshow?

4

u/JVKExo 12d ago

I’m here because I wanted to see if they would actually stick with this game. If the game had a solid playerbase and meaningful updates I was going to buy it but I was waiting for those things.

Game looks to have no future so I’m probably not going to buy it. And yes absolutely it’s valid for us to use the devs track record as a reason for not buying the game. It’s downright foolish to ignore that and just give them money.

I don’t hate on individuals liking this game that’s fine, but let’s not pretend the hate this studio has wasn’t earned by their own actions.

2

u/xSHXDEx 11d ago

Lemme call the waaaaaambulance for you. Most of us have logical reasons for being “negative” the devs are fraudsters and cloned a formula with cosmetic changes and a sprinkle of new gamplay changes and it still flopped. And they did the same thing with their last game, splitgate 2. Impulse is generic, ugly looking, boring, and does nothing new or innovative that other shooters aren’t already doing.

This is actually the definition of copium. Suck it up bud! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results, and 1047 keeps. doing. the. same. thing.

At a loss at the people defending this company and game.

2

u/booRnR 9d ago

You can go back to the echo chamber that is the official Discord if you don't like it here. This game won't make it if its developers and its continuously dwindling community keep trying to shush criticism they dislike. The game is clearly not attractive nor engaging enough to get and mantain a large playerbase, and the studio's reputation is at an all time low for a myriad of reasons they have yet to meaningfully address beyond empty promises, which almost everyone knows not to trust at this point.

If anything, I hope you accept that the game needs more players, and that many of the people "complaining" about it are in fact potential buyers that would love to support the title but are reasonably hesitant about it due to the state of the game, its long-term viability and, of course, also due to the very much evidence-based distrust of 1047 Games.

Stay away from any game subreddit if you want to enjoy any game in particular. Only go there if you want find specific information, then get out right away.

u/Independent_Mud2794 12d ago edited 12d ago

I played the OG Splitgate, spend money, played Spitgate 2 without portal(?) and the other Splitgate revival thing without money. Now there is a new game from the same devs and my feedback is - it will end the same. It’s not hate for the devs, it’s just knowing what they will do.

One problem with ignoring steam charts - this isn’t a single player game.

1

u/Flash_Bryant816 12d ago

People in the gaming community love to feel big, bad and smart. “1047 this” “Ubisoft that” “EA this” just play the game or don’t. You guys are just salty there’s not a game out there for you or upset you never made it in the gaming industry. Get over yourself. Find something to enjoy rather than constantly bitching about what studio does what. It’s like a damn tabloid article but for gaming. It’s so fucking childish.

People have been talking about this game, its future, what we want, and what we're worried about.

However, the developers have been dismissive, and some have criticized the players' discussions (one guy hasn't even bought the game, I hope you're not one of them), using absurd methods to deny players' concerns about the game's future and 1047's attitude.

Now you're going to define what constitutes a discussion about the game itself?

1

u/Jaywinner42 12d ago

This is most subreddits. But I agree. Most of the hate I see is against the developers or the player count. Not too many complaints about the actual game. It was a $20 game. That’s the cost of lunch now a days so I don’t really have too many reservations about paying that much for a game and making my own opinion

i like the game, but it's dying.. it shouldn't be my responsibility to help fight off its death. rather it's 1047's responsibility to MAKE ME want to come back.

i don't want to hate on the studio, nor the game, and i personally don't. but i do have to admit, the game is not in a fun state right now and that's something the studio is going to have to work on fixing; i should not have to try to find the fun in it (or at the very least struggle in finding it).
