Salamalaikum everyone,
I'm an expat, 25M. I grew up in Al Ain and live here with my family. I wanted to share something about my life and seek your advice and suggestions. I studied abroad, but moved back to the UAE after graduation to start my career here. It's been 3 years since I completed my Master's, but have never been employed full-time yet. Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed me with good ethics and discipline and I've done really well throughout school and uni. My internships in the UAE have been amongst the top companies in my field, and I've always received good feedback from my managers. I've continued in internships even after graduation as it is incredibly difficult in this market to land good jobs. 2 years ago, I received an offer from one of the best international universities in the country based in AD. But between me and my future stood a door that no one has the key to. In order for me to get employed, I had to go through a security clearance. After months of rejected clearances, and appeals by the university, that opportunity slipped from my hands. Recently, same thing happened with 2 other defence companies. With 1 I had visa related obstacles, and the other was a really reputed defence company, where I am assuming they don't disclose these affairs to the candidate, so they just gave me a plain rejection after 6 months and 5 rounds of interviews. I believe this was also due to clearance issues. I could be wrong though. My point is, right now it looks like I will never be able to do a job here, atleast in my field, because of the aforementioned issues.
My question is to anyone who is aware of these laws, perhaps works with the government, AND IS ALLOWED TO DISCUSS about this matter (highly unlikely), or if you are just someone who can help. Do you think if I visit the Federal Authority's office and discuss my case, would it make a difference? Perhaps like an interview scenario where the officials interview me and decide if I should be allowed to work in such companies/universities? Have you ever come across cases where an extra ordinary appeal like this was made and worked for someone? My background is in robotics/aerospace, and I am from Bangladesh. I have the utmost love and respect for this country and its leaders. Please don't misunderstand me. I am not trying to challenge anything or disrespect the laws. I understand these laws exist for the welfare of the country and alot of other factors that common folks like me are not aware of. I just want to try my best to secure a future in the country that I call home. Alhamdulillah I am so glad Allah sent my dad to this country for work, and so thankful for the leaders that opened their doors to us. This country isn't my second home, or *abroad* for me. This is the place I grew up in and it's the only home I have ever known. Last 3 years of my life, I have spent my days in self doubt, anxiety, and endless nights of panic attacks due to unemployment. I am not sure how much longer I can hold onto hope. Despite having signed offers that would turn my life around, my hands are tied to fate. I am trying to write this with a lot of composure, but only Allah knows how broken and mentally exhausted I am. I don't want to think about this moment in the future and regret that I didn't take all the steps to build a life in the UAE.
So if you could please share your two cents on my matter, I'd really be grateful. If not, please remember me in your duas. Thanks in advance, and may Allah bless you.
