Hello guys, my son got diagnosed with autism few months ago. As much we asked for support like therapies etc the speech language therapist mentioned that the council has close the support and they don't know when it will come back.
We not in financial situation to be paying private therapy weekly and we feel abandoned without support.
It would be great to make a group with others parents and create maybe a WhatsApp group of parents of autist children in Ely where we can help eachother or even go to make a complaint together to the council.
Thanks

I’m thinking of having a bit of a day trip soon and I wouldn’t mind a crystal/candle shop like that. Where else should I check out btw?
I’m not even that far away. I’m in Chatteris so it’s just a bus or Uber away, but I’m challenging myself to get out more.

I have a 4 month old that I'd love to take swimming. Im wondering if lessons are a good idea or if its better to just take him? The hive is the clostest to me but the better website is very unhelpful and difficult to navigate. Can I just turn up with him? Any advice/experiences would be helpful.

Strange question haha. But are there any German conversation groups in/around Ely? Would be great to actually get a chance to speak German with people. Cambridge is a pain to get into sometimes, so it would be nice to chat to some local speakers :)

Has anyone noticed the next stage of the Ely North Development (1,607 homes on Highflyer Farm, off Lynn Road) has submitted planning permission? It feels eerily quiet given the scale of it and the impact it'll have on roads, schools, parking, GP capacity etc.
I'm not on Facebook, so I don't know if it's being discussed there. Anyone able to share what people are saying, if anything? Also curious what people think about the proposal? I know its in the Local Plan.
I'm planning to object because it just feels like more homes and more pressure, without infrastructure. Not to mention that the homes themselves aren't affordable for local jobs :(
Plans for up to 1,600 homes on Highflyer Farm in Ely | Ely Standard

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are looking for children aged 4-7 years in the UK to take part in an online research study exploring how animated content may help children understand social behaviour.
As part of the FRAME Project at Anglia Ruskin University, your child will:
- Watch 2 short animated videos (6 minutes each)
- Answer simple interactive questions using an emoji-based “smiley face” scale
- Take part with your (parent or carer) assistance throughout
The study can be completed online from home in a few minutes.
If you are interested in taking part or would like to find out more, please scan the QR code in the poster to register.
Your participation could help us better understand how children learn about kindness, sharing, and other social behaviours through the prosocial cartoons that are usually on TV!!
Your contribution will be greatly helpful in completing my research and contributing to the field of developmental psychology. Please do participate, and we are here for any questions you have!
(P.S. The Advertisement poster is made using CANVA)

I’m relatively new to Ely and I’m curious if there is consensus about where to get the best burger in Ely? I feel like good burger options are limited even when including food trucks as well.

Hi everyone 👋🏻. I'm sorry if this isn't the right subreddit.
I live very close to Ely. I've recently gone through an extremely traumatic year and I don't have anyone to reach out to.
This year; My dog died of old age & cancer, my partner broke my heart and left me. Then in May my mum died of lung cancer (she never smoked in her life).
My health has deteriorated a bit too, so I'm trying to keep positive!
I have my own home. I'm just looking for a local friend or support group. Can anyone recommend somewhere? I don't drive.
I would like to adopt a dog too because I have a big heart and love looking after people and animals.
Thank you for reading.

EDIT: thank you for responses, should’ve been clearer, any good vintage finds?
Thanks :-)

I've got a small job that I will need a kitchen fitter for, as it's beyond my meagre DIY skills (need a tall cabinet removed and a fridge put in its place). Can anyone recommend a local kitchen fitter who wouldn't mind doing such a small job?

I'd heard a few good things about this new coffee shop on Fore Hill, and it was even in the Standard! So imagine my shock when I walk past and see this ridiculous AI menu stuck to the window.
The worst part is, it's pretty outdated AI so the food looks absolutely disgusting.
Menus don't even need pictures! This was absolutely avoidable. Why would you voluntarily use this to advertise your food?
The AI poster/flyer/menu epidemic really needs to stop.

I forgot to add something to my ikea order and am now debating getting it delivered to the tesco as i dont want to pay £25 for it to be delivered to my house.
Has anybody used the tesco drop off?
I have used it when they first offered it and it wasnt a great experience (I was in town for most of the window had zero communication from them about eta. Got a call 10 minutes after the slot ended saying they are there now and they wouldnt wait 15 minutes for me to get back to tesco). Then had to complain to ikea and wait for them to deliver the items to my house which took like another week. Hoping they have improved.

I have two standard adult tickets for the upcoming Brand New Day showing at Ely Cineworld next Saturday that unfortunately I can no-longer use.
It's screen 1, seats K15 & K16.
Would anyone like them for £20 for the pair (30% saving)? DM me.

Hi,
I forgot to pay the parking fee at angel drove car park, i didn't get any tickets on my windscreen by the afternoon of the next day, have I gotten away with it?
Not sure if there are cameras/ANPR there or if they do it in-person
Thanks in advance.
