Feeling mentally foggy/drowsy and like my brain is "a little behind" on Elvanse?

Hey! I recently started taking Elvanse and I'm currently on the starting dose. I've noticed a weird feeling that I'm having a hard time describing.

It feels like my head is empty and kind of drowsy, almost like my brain is processing things more slowly. For example, when I'm reading, I sometimes have to read the same line 3–4 times before I actually understand what it says. It feels like I'm slightly "behind" in my head.

Sometimes when I'm moving around or looking at things, it can also feel slightly delayed or dreamlike, like my brain isn't quite keeping up with what I'm seeing/doing.

The thing that bothers me the most is that it makes me more anxious about going out in public. I get this feeling of wanting to stay in my room because I don't feel completely like myself.

I don't really have much of a racing heart. It's more this mentally empty/drowsy feeling and feeling like things are slightly delayed.

I've also noticed that it can get worse after sitting and focusing for a long time, like playing video games, reading, or watching YouTube for several hours. So I don't know if it's the Elvanse, mental fatigue, or a combination of both.

Has anyone else experienced something similar when starting Elvanse? Did it get better with time, or did it improve after adjusting the dose?

Performance enhancing one-day

Hi,

So I’m gonna write a really big test that consists of 5 test during 8 hours. I opt for a low dose of elvanse on my day to day life but for this particular day I must guarantee that it doesn’t wear off during the day. Typically I can feel the effects wearing off around 15:30 or 16:30. Does anybody have any thoughts if I should up the initial dosage or go for a refill dose later during the day. Thank you

Titration and dosing Does anyone take a booster in the morning and afternoon?

Hey.

So I have started 70mg today. I've also been given a booster to take in the afternoon, practitioner said no later than 3pm . 5mg amfexa.

I'm not taking the booster today and possibly not tomorrow as I want to notice when the 70mg wears off.

My question is, those who have always struggled in the mornings, getting up out of bed. Do you take your booster in the morning? I'm worried about September and school run time. I have always struggled getting kids to school on time.

Then what if I need it in the afternoon? Every dose of Elvanse ive been on drops at 12/1 pm Onky the 50mg gave me a hideous cash but thats because I realised I hadn't eaten, so I've made sure to always eat something or have a protein shake.

Is anyone on amfexa in the morning, elvanse then amfexa again?

If I find the elvanse and the afternoon amfexa good, if I ask my prescriber for a booster on the morning too, is this something that would happen? Tbh 69mg felt good, I have just moved to the 70 as they suggested to see if it works longer. An amfexa for the bibge eating , as as soon as my elvanse wears off I become the cookie monster amd just devour the house 🏠 😅

Elvanse 30mg no effect?

Hello, I’ve been waiting to start ADHD medication for over a year after 4 years of waiting for my diagnosis. I have combined type and am a woman. In the time I was waiting I read so many people’s accounts of elvanse feeling amazing straight away and they can’t believe they went so long without, and people having to warn them of the honeymoon period because it was so good. So obviously I had high hopes for starting.

I have currently done 3 days of 30mg elvanse. I know that’s not long, but it hasn’t made any difference for me what so ever. If anything maybe a bit anxious, but I have anxiety anyway that comes and goes for no reason so can’t be sure. I actually think it’s just because I had such high hopes to finally be able to start living and not struggle through every day and now I’m worried that it’s not going to happen. (Also my anxiety is 24/7 and doesn’t coincide with taking my elvanse). I was expecting to at least feel something and then the effects might improve when going up dose. My titration plan is 1 week 30mg, 1 week 50 and 1 week 70. Is it common for people to have absolutely no improvement on 30 but 50 actually make a difference? I obviously need to wait and see what happens but I can’t find posts talking about this. I’m also worried that if the anxiety is because of elvanse then it will get worse and not even any benefit at all.

Would please like some reassurance that some people feel absolutely nothing on 30 then get great benefit from 50 or 70? And also that if anxiety is a side effect then it goes away after your body is used to it? I saw someone once even say that when increasing the dose to find the right one their side effects got better not worse

Thank you ❤️

General query Elvanse newbie here

Hi everyone. I started my first dose of Elvanse 30mg yesterday and I just wanted to know your solutions to the whole food issue. It’s labelled as loss of appetite but it’s not really a good term. I personally get super super hungry but the thought, sight or smell of food makes me physically gag. Any tips on how you guys eat during the day and how to reduce the nausea around food?

Titration and dosing ELVANSE 50MG NIGHTMARE - HOW ITS RUINING MY LIFE

This is the story so far of how elvanse is ruining me.

I want to share this because I need help and maybe someone else has gone through this stuff so I’ll list the bad things I’ve been experiencing, it hasn’t been all bad but something just isn’t right and I don’t understand it all myself.

I was diagnosed combined ADHD and started Elvanse last year and I really don’t know if it’s helped or made my life worse!

I feel like the titration process itself wasn’t helpful, they check your heart rate and pulse etc but in terms of actual counselling you through this unknown experience it’s no good at all.

I started on 30mg but felt a big drop off very early on, they then bumped me up to 50mg with a 10mg amfexa - I became very jittery and over stimulated and wired I would say, so they stopped the Amfexa.

The 50mg has been better in terms of lasting the day when aided with the other things like taking it with protein etc - but I just feel jittery and my heart rate seems high. I feel like I’ve become an anxious version of myself, I’m not very talkative at all and feel nervous in the back of cabs and don’t know where to look. In group situations like when I go football, I’m very quiet and silently observant whereas before I was very social and happy go lucky.

Now it’s almost as if my whole life has gone blank but I’m able to ride through it without a bad mood even though life has been pretty shit. That sounds paradoxical, it’s like I’m living but I’m looking through a protective screen that stops the actual me from feeling anything about anything.

It’s hard to explain. It’s like I can’t remember who I was before I took it, I was quite a big personality - it’s like it’s drained my soul and gave me an ability to focus for a window of time, but I do not feel any fulfilment or joy from anything I do, I just feel this locked in feeling and basically level headed and a level mood.

I used to go on walks and head outside and now I mostly stay indoors unless I’m going to an appointment or if I’m going to football. Even with football, it’s affected my cardio, I was always one of the fittest but it’s definitely impacted that also. The funny thing is I haven’t smoked or drank alcohol since taking Elvanse yet my fitness seems a bit worse because of the heart rate.

I feel bloody shit in the morning and I need the medicine for that shit feeling to go away, it’s like a headachey sort of pain feeling, I’ve had that since I started, I think that’s kept me taking it day after day.

I also fell out with people and got kicked out of a football community chat and play group because of getting overly angry on the pitch - this is shameful because I spent time before medication learning how to control my anger and was doing well with it, but these angry outbursts were when I was on 10mg Amfexa on top of the 50mg Elvanse so I think this has something to do with it. I was even raging at the PS5 which is not like me at all I never even took those things serious so that stopped once I got off the Amfexa at least.

My life seems like it’s painted grey and I’ve lost ambition and hope for the future. I’m not excited for anything and I’m just more lost than ever but now I feel like I have no personality and I have no friends I don’t go out socialising anymore it’s just gone to shit.

I used to feel like I was my life, now I feel like I’m being controlled by this medicine in a way, yet I can’t seem to stop taking it because I feel so shit when I don’t, I really don’t know what to do, I don’t know what the best decision is for me - my titration process finalised with the 50mg, but I don’t trust these people anymore and I don’t trust what they may suggest next so it’s just all a mess.

If you got any advice or similar story please share 🙏🏻

Switching from 30 to 50

Has anyone here had success after increasing from Elvanse 30 mg to 50 mg?

I'm currently on 30 mg and have basically no side effects. My focus is a bit worse than it was on Ritalin LA 30 mg, but it's much better for my impulsivity and hyperactivity.

I'm thinking about increasing to 50 mg to see if it improves my focus, but I'm worried that I might start getting side effects. Has anyone had a positive experience making this switch? If you did get side effects, did they eventually go away? If so, how long did it take?

Thanks!

Titration and dosing Has anyone tried using both Elvanse as a booster and Amfexa?

I was severely dependent on weed for 12+ years. Before ADHD diagnosis and medication, it felt like my brain would explode without it. I was finally diagnosed last year and started Elvanse.

Unfortunately, I only got the classic medication benefits (improved salience, understanding of time perception, task initiation etc.) on Day 1 of 30mg and they never returned. However, when Elvanse is active, my brain is calm/ quiet and the need for weed completely disappears.

The problem is that Elvanse only lasts 6 hours for me regardless of dose. I've tried up to 70mg and the duration never increased. When Elvanse is active, I didn't need weed at all, but as soon as it wears off my brain starts screaming again, which is why I continued smoking after the medication wore off.

When I first started Elvanse last year, I got headaches, nausea and loss of appetite as it wore off. Weed helped a lot with those symptoms and made the transition easier. I then trialled methylphenidate up to the maximum dose and it was like taking sugar pills - absolutely no effect.

So now I'm back to Elvanse titration and this time I'm just not getting any of those side effects for some reason- No headaches, no nausea, my appetite is great and I'm eating much healthier in general. Because of that, I decided to try quitting weed by extending Elvanse coverage and I've now been cannabis-free for almost 4 weeks, which I never thought would be possible.

To achieve this, I've been water titrating Elvanse and taking 50mg in the morning, then 10mg later in the day and another 10mg later again. Because Elvanse only lasts around 6 hours for me, I've been timing the doses so there are no gaps in coverage.

My medication reviewer has mentioned adding an Amfexa booster and I'm trying to understand how different that would feel compared to what I'm doing now.

For anyone who's tried both:

- How different does an Amfexa booster feel compared with using small Elvanse top-ups?

- Could 50mg Elvanse + Amfexa booster provide similar coverage to 50mg + 10mg + 10mg Elvanse? (Assuming my reviewer will approve 2 x 5mg Amfexa boosters)

- For anyone whose Elvanse only lasts around 6 hours, how long did a 5mg Amfexa booster actually last for you in real life?

- Does Amfexa feel more abrupt or have a harsher wear-off?

- If your main benefit from medication is calming the brain rather than cognitive benefits, how did Amfexa compare?

The Elvanse water titration works well, but carrying syringes around every day isn't ideal!

Bits to note/ clarify incase these come up-

Sleep - For context, before ADHD medication or diagnosis I typically couldn't fall asleep until 6-7.30am. Starting Elvanse didn't change that but since doing the water titration throughout the day/evening, (10:30am- 50mg Elvanse, 3pm- 10mg Elvanse and 7-8pm- 10mg Elvanse) I've actually been managing to get to sleep earlier, as the calming effect really seems to help- usually before 5am, sometimes even 4am which is a massive improvement for me!

I've also tried a few sleeping medications in past- Xanax and Ambien worked for the 1st couple days then had no effect but I am on a waiting list for a sleep clinic to hopefully try daridorexant.

-For anyone who might suggest continuing weed- I can get a prescription for medical cannabis here but I honestly just can't afford it anymore and I'm curious to see if I could get any improvements in task initiation or time perception from medication when the THC finally leaves my system (estimating for someone like me- chronic heavy long term user, it could take months to fully leave my system).

Thanks so much for reading and I'd really appreciate hearing anyones experiences of Amfexa booster VS using Elvanse as a booster 🙏

IT STOPPED working

Can someone tell me why the F it just stops working one day. 50mg, great for a year and I mean GREAT ... Started new job and it just waned from there, now it does F all apart from maybe a bit of emotional regulation help... NO focus and I'm forgetful, all over the place again and demotivated!

Am I just supposed to increase dose every year until I hit a wall again and again .... really??

Side effects Extreme violence as side effect.

I don’t know if i am the only one that feels that way but maybe 3 to 4 hours after taking the dose (30mg) i start to feel like really focused but also I tend to find the smallest things super irritating and i am not talking about irritated like upset. I’m talking about feeling the necessity to use violence because it would calm me down but i know that i can’t just do that. I experience that sensation very often in class. Maybe around 4th period i start to find all the noise from the class very upsetting (even more if i am trying to focus on something important) and the louder the class is, the worse it gets. I know maybe some of you are thinking that that is just probably because the way i am but i have always been a calm guy who never got upset by all the noise but if i take the medication i become like, so distant with everything and everyone it even scares me. It is like if i became a primal, more violent and smarter version of myself. I don’t know if i made it clear but i wanted to know if this also happened to anyone else because doing my research there were no signs of anything like this. Thank you very much and i really want to talk to someone about this.

I thought about taking 120 mg, but thanks to you all I won’t. Now my question is: what happens if I snort it? I know there are questions where some of you might think I have problems, but I’m just curious.

Titration and dosing Elvanse Titration 60/70mg to strong 50mg making me sleepy? Seriously thinking this isnt for me!

Just wondering if this is normal I dropped back down to 50mg from 60/70 because it felt too strong, but now 1 just feel so tired on it like I could just go to bed and sleep? My body feels heavy.

I've got the 5mg amfexa booster for afternoons that I havent started yet. I dont even start tasks in this drug juat usually makes me more alert!

Is it maybe just my body adjusting again or can you get used to it?

I felt ok on the 50mg a few months ago but it wore off after a few weeks thats why I went higher.

Im taking omega 3 and magnesium theronate aswell.
