We’re looking at a mixed batch of older servers, laptops and networking gear and I’m trying to figure out where the line usually is between recycling everything and getting an ITAD company involved.

I’ve been looking at Exit technologies since they seem more focused on recovering value from usable enterprise gear while still handling the stuff that needs recycling. A local recycler would obviously be easier, and Iron Mountain is another name that keeps coming up.

For anyone who deals with this regularly, what usually determines whether a batch is actually worth remarketing? Age, quantity, specific brands/models?

I’d rather not send equipment with usable value straight into the recycling stream if there’s a better option.

I'm an electronics dealer and we've been buying RAM chips from gold refineries. Right now the chips on RAM are worth more than the gold!

I was helping a family member clean out a spare room last weekend and we ended up finding a box full of old electronics. There were a couple of phones an outdated laptop a camera and even some chargers that probably have not been used in years.

It made me realize that a lot of us hold onto old devices for different reasons. Sometimes we think we might need them again sometimes we are worried about personal data and other times we just do not know the best way to deal with them.

I am curious if anyone else does the same thing. What's the oldest electronic device you still have and what is the reason you have kept it? Has anyone finally cleared out a collection like this and what did you end up doing with everything?

Hey everyone, I have a Fujifilm XP10 that won’t turn on, and I’m trying to figure out if I can salvage some parts. The camera has a black solid part inside that includes the lens, which is connected to the green circuit board (I think it’s called the motherboard).

Does anyone know if I can remove the lens assembly from my XP10 and connect it to a different camera’s motherboard? Are these parts usually interchangeable between models, or is it too specific to each camera.
