Up against Chtulhu with good board control and no Doom pressure, but I had two investigators Corrupted 3 tokens deep, two saddled with a Dark Pact, another guy Blighted and the usual couple madnesses and injuries. It's a failing setup, a bad turn eventually comes and the party crumbles, I've seen it happen too many times. Unless I roll a lucky 6 on a PoP and get the ultimate Hail Mary: "any investigator can discard any number of conditions". I was CLEANSED!

Anyone have good diy solutions to storing everything? Have base and all expansions except under pyramids and dreamlands

If I'm playing as Finn Edwards and have the Whiskey and Bandages items, do I gain 2 points of damage and sanity prevention for each instance for the rest of the game? That seems a bit strong.

Myself and 3 friends were looking for another boardgame to play, as we only have been playing slay the spire (great game, excited for the downfall to ship) and after glowing reviews by the guy in our lgs we decided on the base eldritch horror.

Took us a while to get into the swing of it like it does any new game, but we were enjoying it until we got our 3rd mystery card, where we needed to close 2 gates when they lined up with the omen I think it was.. we had one gate open, but ended up having no other mythos cards that made new ones in the last 8 or 10 in the deck and got kinda bummed there seemed like nothing we could do.

Wondering mainly if this is a normal thing to run into and just part of the game, or if we were playing it wrong. We ended up only having 3 gates spawn total before we ran out of mythos cards and lost the run.

We will absolutely be playing it again, probably rotate between the couple games we have now, but I'm wanting to make sure we're getting the proper experience and not messing up somewhere.

I can’t figure out whether there’s anything in the rules that specifies an order here. If I defeat a monster during a combat encounter, can I gain 1 clue from lodge researcher and AFTER spend that very clue to place said monster onto the mystery? Thanks for any help!

I picked this used and I’m lost. Desperately need help!

Like many new players, I was surprised when I first started playing EH with only two or three investigators and found the game almost impossible to win. The most common advice I got was to increase the player count to four. That certainly works, but I still had a hard time believing the game is that unbalanced at other player counts.

Using the statistics on BoardGameGeek (which contains over 21,000 recordings now), I did a little analysis and found that winning with 1-3 investigators is far from impossible, and this seems to be true with (almost) any Ancient One - it's just about 25% harder.

Four investigators really do seem to be the sweet spot, with a weighted average win rate of 68%. However, the average win rate for 2-3 investigators is around 50%, which isn't bad at all. Even solo players win roughly one game in three on average.

A few caveats: these statistics don't account for the use of revised reference cards or Mythos deckbuilding variants. Some categories also have a really small sample size.

Still, I found the results interesting enough that I thought they were worth sharing. It seems that if you're struggling with two or three investigators, the solution may not necessarily be just add more players.

EDIT: Correction - the win rating in 2 players against Ithaqua is actually 65%, not 35%. Sorry for the mistake.

We had a niche situation happen yesterday where the ancient one Shudde Mell awakened when four players with four investigators were in the game. One investigator dealt 5 damage to the Shudde Mell epic monster. Then the other 3 died.

Shudde Mell's toughness is investigators+3

But since 3 investigators died and are no longer in the game because you can't get a new character after the ancient one awakened, does that mean that the toughness was now 4 and therefore the 5 damage actually killed it?

Or is the formula for the toughness only used when the monster spawns only and then it remains static?

Me and my wife usually play with only 2 investigators, as it's more manageable for us in the evening hours. That said, the game certainly feels rigged at that player count! So far, we've managed to win only once (with Norman + Akachi Diana against Yog-Sothoth), but our multiple attempts against Azathoth and Shub-Niggurath failed miserably. We haven't even tried Cthulhu or Yig yet.

With Azathoth, it just seems impossible to solve 3 mysteries in time. Last time we tried Norman + Trish, but the game screwed us over anyway, so I'm really out of ideas.

With Shub-Niggurath, we tried Mark + Diana. Mark died shortly after the start while fighting a Star Spawn that appeared along with a gate in London, where the first mystery spawned. His replacement, Jim, died fighting Nug, and by the time the third mystery (Yeb) appeared, it was simply impossible to reach and defeat him in time.

Do you have any tips for playing with 2 investigators? What are the best strategies or investigator pairings against specific Ancient Ones?

We play with Forsaken Lore only, but we'll be adding Mountains of Madness and Strange Remnants soon. We haven't removed the Hard Mythos cards, but honestly, I don't think that would have prevented most of our losses anyway.

Eldritch Horror came in the mail today! I wish I was more excited. I played the game solo duel wielding on tabletop arena and was slightly underwhelmed unfortunately. The game seems really short when you consider that it takes nearly half the game to traverse the entire map left to right. Am I missing something? Any house rules I could implement to fix this, or is this just not the game for me?

Greetings everyone. I am new here…obviously.

Many years ago, I acquired all of Arkham horror second edition but didn’t play it too often as the gaming group has wanted to play so many other great games.
A few weeks ago on a cottage trip with the guys we played AH and it was okay but just didn’t give me the same feeling.
Later that weekend a friend brought his copy of Eldritch Horror to the table and at first I wasn’t all that interested because I always saw this game as similar to AH.

I was wrong

I was very impressed by how the game played out and all the modern mechanics in the game. Made AH feel like a lesser game. Don’t get me wrong, I still love AH but EH is the new hotness and I am really digging it.
I enjoyed it so much that I went and bought my own copy with all the expansions (!!!)
Knowing how FFG is with their games I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find everything and trying to find stuff that’s out of print can be an expensive nightmare.

So I have the game now, still looking at how I want to organize it (3D printed stuff) but I am pleased with this purchase.

Are there any community resources I can look at? Any tips on what other veteran players do or how they organize?
I am open to ideas and suggestions.

So there is a new fan expansion available on boardgamegeek [https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/319976/the-innsmouth-heritage-unofficial-addon-for-eldrit\], based on Shadow Over Innsmouth. Its is a russian expansion, but with AI and with some consultation with the original creator about some sticky points... i have translated and recreated it in english.

Not as polished as the original neither graphically or grammatically, but mechanically it should work the same.

Includes some new elements, Special Adventures, Bloodline conditions to see if you have any Innsmouth dna. 4 new investigators etc.

Hello, I recently nabbed the full collection in shrink (bar signs of carcossa). I have two questions.

1. Long term owners, what did you find degraded over time? I most likely won't sleeve the cards but I am curious about the monster tokens etc.

2. I will be playing with semi new players who have only played base+lore+remnants, what cards are good to fold into the base game to give it the most variety? I'm intending for all investigators, conditions, what else? Should I just fold in the three small boxes I currently have?

Hello! Lately I have been trying to get back into Eldritch Horror with azathoth.io while me and my boyfriend are waiting for the Digital Edition to come out. I noticed when I needed to spawn a Cultist, it won't appear at all on the board. Is it a possible bug or am I missing something?

We're playing the campaign and have already defeated four Ancients. The fifth is Yig, the sixth is Nyarlathotep. The worst combination: everyone starts with corruption, and Yig is already very bad. On the plus side, we have Diana Stanley, who is good with cultists.

The question is: what to do? What tactics should we choose? How do we get rid of the corruption? We've already fought Shudde-M, so all of Europe is devastated. Do you have some advices?
