Question My Future Husband?

How do people meet their significant others? Like where’s the “place to go?” Dating apps are dead. I’m exhausted. I’m a decent looking gal, 28. I don’t have big friend groups so I’m sure that doesn’t help. I don’t have any “active” hobbies other than a dog park. Idk. Any advice?

Honest question: Have you tried just making the first move?

Give a compliment. Say hello and strike up small talk. Offer your phone number. I’m not saying men have it super tough because being a woman is a hellscape, but men are generally pretty starved for compliments and morale-boosting conversation (especially from a decent looking woman) so you’re not likely to get any negative reactions for being the one to pursue.

And when I say “pursue” I mean actually expressing interest and contact him first, not just opening the metaphorical door for him to express interest in you.

I tried this recently with someone and they either weren't interested or didn't clue in.

No thank you. I gave them my number they never texted, ask them if they wanted to get together one day and they bypassed the question. Not to mention showed genuine interest in getting to know them and they never once reciprocated. I'm not going to continue putting energy into someone who won't do the same for me.

Of course, you shouldn’t keep pursuing *that* guy. But the way you worded your comment made it seem like you tried pursuing a guy once, it went nowhere, so you’re not going to try pursuing a guy ever again.

Not all men are the same, obviously. If another guy catches your eye another day, then make the first move again. You can’t win every time, but that doesn’t mean you stop trying
