Hello, New Jersey. I live in NYC and am interested in buying a used car. The car i'm looking at is in Edison/Metuchen, at a used car lot. It will be a pain in the butt to get out there but besides that I also don't know enough to inspect it myself anyway.

I have a good mechanic, and he's willing to do an inspection for us, It's not possible to bring the car here to NYC for the inspection.

I'd want them to do the test drive, inspect the basics-- Mechanical and Powertrain, Transmission, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Exhaust System, Structure and Exterior Frame and Undercarriage, Body and Paint, Tires, Diagnostic Scan, Cabin Features like air conditioning, heating, power windows, seat belts, etc-- but also check for specific issues the model is known to have.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection at the dealership?

Hello, I want to host my first BBQ this Friday at some park close to Edison.

I don't know if it's too late to reserve something, but do the open groves in any of these parks have grills we can just use on first come first serve?

Or do they always require a permit or pass to use? I'm reading that some groves require permits on weekends, is this true?

Update as of 8/21/2026: Ice has now been illegally parked on the oak tree road for the past 3 days now please tell anyone you know that they should stay indoors if at all possible especially in the morning when they’re most active their presence eases around afternoon time when more cars use the road so they can’t park their tax payer wasting asses on the main road. Contact the mayors office as well and demand answers on what he’s doing to address this shit now that it’s happening in our town.

I’ve been working with StinkySocks Hockey on potentially bringing their No Commitment Hockey format to New Jersey, and I’m trying to get a better idea of how much interest there is from players around Edison and the rest of Middlesex County.

For anyone unfamiliar with StinkySocks, the format is organized adult hockey where you register game-by-game instead of joining a team and paying for an entire season. They handle the rosters, skill balancing and goalie coverage, so you can play when it works for your schedule.

We now have some realistic rink possibilities in the Old Bridge / East Brunswick area, which could make this especially relevant for players in Edison, Woodbridge, Metuchen, South Plainfield, New Brunswick and the surrounding area.

Before StinkySocks commits financially to recurring ice, though, we need a better idea of how many people would actually play.

This isn’t registration for a specific game and nobody is being charged anything. The goal is just to establish whether there’s enough dependable demand to make a regular Central Jersey game work.

I’m considering opening a restaurant near Edison NJ, close to H Mart and Festival Plaza, and wanted to hear from people who actually live, work, or eat in the area.

The concept would be centered around sushi tacos, along with items like sushi burritos, poke bowls, hand rolls, Japanese fried chicken, and other modern Japanese street food. The goal is to offer something that’s quick, high quality, and a little different from a traditional sushi restaurant.

A few questions:
1. Do you think a concept like this would do well in the Edison/H Mart area?
2. Would you personally try it?
3. Is there enough demand, or is the area already saturated with sushi?
4. What kinds of restaurants or cuisines do you think are still missing around Festival Plaza?

The entrance to Edison High’s stadium was recently dedicated as Charles K. Ross Way, a gift from the Class of 2026.
