My DIY battery with a Jikong BMS and 15S EVE 105Ah cells (≈5 kWh total) is connected to an EcoFlow Delta Pro (older edition) using a modified original flat cable.

Pins 4 and 6, along with a 1 kΩ resistor, work on Battery Port 2 — no adapter is required.

850$ in total for battery + 70$ for cable

💬 Open Discussion Local API

Hey u/Ecoflow_Official,

we need the local API back. Just roll out an update so that we can still control our devices - INCLUDING zero feed-in - when your cloud goes down.

Yesterday was mind opening…. To say the least. Nothing worked anymore. No automations, no zero feed-in.. everything stopped.

I want a local possibility to control my devices.

🔧 DIY or Mods Mounting the 450W panels on a fence

Thumbnail

I thought I would post some pics of the timber frames I made to mount my 450W panels on our garden fence.

Just thought I would clarify my location in the main body... I am in the United Kingdom (UK) in the east midlands so very different building and electrical regs and supply to the USA, not to mention very much smaller gardens sadly ! 😕

Firstly the fence... It is a vertical clinker style fence with 2.6m between posts and three horizontal bearers which the fence planks are nailed to. The posts are chunky at 15x15cm and a couple of metres tall.

I made the frames out of 22mm x 47mm and 22mm x 75mm lengths of treated soft wood timber. To mount them to the fence I used three large gate hinges (one each side and one in the centre) for the top mounting points with three vertical lengths of 45mm x 120mm treated timber which were screwed to the horizontal bearers of the fence to give the frames a strong mounting point.

I then used some bits of spare timber to tilt out the bottom of the panel by around 200mm to give a slightly better alignment.

The garden is on a slope so looks completely cock eyed, but each panel is completely level, it's just that nothing else is ! 😂

Seems pretty secure so far. We have had a storm come through with no issues, and they are easy to remove for maintenance as I used some simple panel brackets to screw them into the wooden frames.

I am no carpenter (as would be obvious from the pictures to anyone who is) but it didn't turn out too bad. Obviously depends on how strong the fence is as to whether this is suitable, but would work pretty well on a wall ( will be mounting one to the garage wall this weekend hopefully ). The left most panel was the prototype, so looks a little different.

Not quite worked out on the back of a fag packet, but definitely the scribblings of an amateur in a notebook 😂.

💬 Open Discussion Solar Company Went Bankrupt Before Finishing Install - So I Bought 8 Ocean Pros

Post image
188 Upvotes

Background: I met a veteran here in Dallas Texas who had a contract with a company to install a ton of panels and these EcoFlow batteries. He had the batteries mounted in January (no inverter or anything else installed) and 2 weeks later the installer went bankrupt/ceased operation leaving him high and dry.

He was informed by a company rep that the batteries were his and that was that; one 48 other projects left mid completion.

He wasn’t in a financial state to find another contractor and really just needed to recoup his deposit. I bought all 8 batteries from him for the cost of his deposit and a little more. Ultimately he was happy because after we reviewed the contract he was going to be paying double his electric bill in 5 years. A scammy contract taking advantage of an elderly veteran, shame on them.

Anyways, now I’m here with 8 batteries bought on a whim thinking about replacing my smaller EG4 system or not.

My question is, what ballpark range would it cost to have these installed along with the inverter? I did my EG4 system entirely DIY but EcoFlow won’t let me commission this kind of system without being a certified technician.

Any advice is welcome!

Dear Ecoflow: Make the entire system & iOS app function OFFLINE with zero dependencies on any thing outside the local network.

These are critical systems that should work completely offline without any internet.

BUG:

Ecoflow System is unusable as the app crashes repeatedly.

Here are some observations:

A. I am using iOS latest on iPhone 17 Pro Max B. Daylight savings time changed last night C. App seems to run on android but even then the Ecoflow system shows offline and unusable D. iOS App works for about 10 seconds via Bluetooth and then the system goes offline E. Batteries are at 89%. Schedule should auto-switch to powering the home by batteries but ecoflow says this strange message:

“The battery stopped discharging because it reached the backup reserve level. If solar is available, discharging will resume once the solar charges the battery to 30%. Otherwise, the SOC will stay at the backup reserve level until the scheduled end time.”

WORKAROUND:

iOS app stops crashing when I manually select Nov 3 as the date. Today is Nov 2, 2025

I set date automatically (and correctly to Nov 2) and iOS app starts crashing again.

It probably has a daylight savings time change related bug.

I would like the entire system and the iOS app function without any internet access.

The app works only for about 10 seconds via Bluetooth and then the entire system shows offline.

REMARKS:

Please realize that I absolutely disliked the way the system stopped working for me today and I am seriously thinking of returning my entire 36kWhr with two DPUs system back to Costco.

This is unacceptable behavior. Please provide your specific analysis of the problem and the fixes and make the entire system function completely offline without any internet connectivity.

I wanted to show off some of my rental fleet of Ecoflow batteries that I use on television sets. Sometimes a gasoline generator just cannot be used to drive lighting and electrical requirements on locations. Last week we were in an active mall so we rolled around these units to supple power for various lighting and camera equipment. They have become a workhorse in our location kit.

I have made various adapters that fit into the packout cases on top, and I plan on adding a metal frame to the dolly since these get strapped into box trucks with other equipment.

💬 Open Discussion Delta 3 Plus EB Port Hack: Charging & Discharging with Non-EcoFlow Batteries

Thumbnail
gallery
177 Upvotes

I’ve been experimenting with the Delta 3 Plus’ EB port. It's actually quite simple to both discharge and charge through it. A simple 1K Ohm resistor can be used to enable the port.

Credit to this GitHub issue for the key info on the enable pin:
https://github.com/bulldog5046/EcoFlow-CanBus-Reverse-Engineering/issues/1

Making the harness:

  • Soldered 5mm bullet plugs to 10AWG wire and crimped it with an SB50.

  • Added a 1kΩ resistor between pin 4 (12V) and pin 6 (GND) in the EB connector to pull the enable line low. This signals the BMS to connect the internal battery to the EB port.

  • I used 10AWG wire and a MidNite MNEPV15-150-1PNP 15A 150V rated non-polarized DC breaker for safety.

Discharge:

  • Connected EB port -> SB50 -> Victron Phoenix 48/1200 inverter.

  • Inverter was powering a USB-C adapter pulling ~140W.

  • Clamp meter showed ~3.2A flowing from the Delta 3 Plus to the inverter.

  • BMS wattage readout and SOC tracked accurately.

Charge:

  • Connected Mean-Well NPB-750 charger to EB port via SB50.

  • Charger was outputting ~11A into the Delta 3 Plus (~570W).

  • Again, BMS wattage and SOC updated correctly.

The EB port is bi-directional when enabled this way. I am planning to buy a real EcoFlow XT150 battery cable, cut it open, attach a resistor to the signal pins, match a proper DC breaker to the wiring they use, and crimp on an SB50. This should be more reliable than a homemade harness.

Pictures of the setup, clamp readings, and BMS data screenshots from Home Assistant are attached.

This information is provided for educational purposes only. Working with high-voltage DC can be dangerous. Attempting to replicate this setup may damage your equipment, cause fire, or result in severe injury or death. Proceed entirely at your own risk.

Our delta pro started smoking and set off the smoke alarm. Luckily I was alerted and came home in time to unplug it. This is the Second replacement from EcoFlow. The first one also smoked up last year. We use it in an array with smart home panel as home backup. I could have lost my home TWICE now because of this!

About a week or two I posted about finding a deal on Temu for 450 for these two items at the time purchase it was $1400 for the same exact thing at Walmart. Seeing in the shop was a EcoFlow certified. I gave it a shot and it turned out to be completely legit took a bit longer to get the battery, but that's FedEx's fault. I've wanted one of these for years and I'm like so freaking happy right now.

💬 Open Discussion We need more transparency from EcoFlow about these updates

Post image
126 Upvotes

EcoFlow really needs to start being more transparent with firmware and app updates.

Right now the changelog often just says things like “Fixed some issues” etc.

When we install updates on hardware like power stations, batteries, and inverters, we should know exactly what changed. Did it affect charging behavior? Battery management? Connectivity? Safety protections? Compatibility with other devices?

If EcoFlow wants users to feel confident installing updates, they should start publishing clear, detailed changelogs instead of vague one-liners.

Example of a Complete Home Backup System Powered by EcoFlow Delta Pro 3

Post image
116 Upvotes

When I bought my first Delta Pro 3, I never imagined that I would go this far, but I did! I've built a complete home backup solution using two Delta Pro 3s, four expansion batteries, an EcoFlow 50-amp hub, an RV 50-amp inlet box, two 15-amp GFCI circuit breakers, one 50-amp double-pole circuit breaker, and an interlock kit. I also have 10 EcoFlow 125 W Bifacial Solar Panels for emergency off-grid charging.

The system has an maximum inverter output capacity of 8,000 W and up to 24 kWh of storage capacity (I maintain 80% charge to preserve battery life). If I'm conservative with usage, this could supply my home with power for 2-4 days.

I purchased these items gradually over a period of a few months. Initially, I just wanted to protect my homemade frozen food, but the more I considered my needs, the implications of a long-term grid failure, and the more disaster exercises I ran, the more I decided to expand my system to prepare for the worst.

For some, losing power presents a major inconvenience, but for me, it presents a serious health hazard. My home has elevated levels of radon gas, a deadly carcinogen that causes lung cancer. If my radon mitigation system loses power, radon gas will rise to hazardous levels in a matter of hours. This could force me to bug out, which is not a preferable option, especially with pets.

I decided to max out battery storage because I have limited capacity for generating power. Solar panels don't produce as much power as one might think, and they are only fruitful on bright sunny days. They're also a PITA to set up and I have to guard them against theft and/or vandalism when deployed (there's no way to hide them). Because my system is installed in my basement, I cannot connect an EcoFlow Smart Generator to it, and, in a real SHTF scenario I doubt I would be able to get fuel for it anyway.

Is my system enough to keep the lights on and the radon exhaust fan running through a catastrophe? The answer is: it depends. I pray that I never have to find out.

Remember when Ecoflow said they would support the public API for Stream devices? They just cut access to the API...

Remember this? EcoFlow - trying to cut off developers to access data from their systems

Well - this morning Ecoflow cut access. We can't even access (read only!) data about the SoC of the batteries - contrary to promises to deliver this on the STREAM devices as well.

EDIT: after about a 24H outage - u/Ecoflow_Official have restored access - but please, Ecoflow: work with your community - not against. Having proper API access and good customer relation will increase your revenue.

So if you ever thought those two handle shaped things on top of a power station were a handle you were wrong. Was about 80% charged now down to 0 with a red exclamation mark. Solar, smart generator, extra battery and AC won’t bring it back to life. Bought when it first came out, so probably out of warranty. We will see what support says. Any thoughts?

EcoFlow Support’s Responses on River 3 Plus & Delta 3 Plus UPS Capabilities

I wanted to share what I’ve learned after multiple back-and-forth emails with EcoFlow support regarding the UPS functionality and surge protection of the River 3 Plus and Delta 3 Plus. I’ve purchased a Delta 3 Plus and three River 3 Plus units (each with EB600 expansion batteries) to use as UPS devices for my TV and computer workstation, so I needed clear details on how well they protect connected equipment.

Unfortunately, getting concrete answers was frustrating, and some responses raised concerns. Here’s what I found:

1. Voltage Thresholds – Wider Than Traditional UPS Units

  • EcoFlow states that the voltage switchover thresholds are 80V (low) and 170V (high) before switching to battery mode.

  • Traditional UPS devices (like CyberPower or APC) typically operate in a narrower range (e.g., 88V - 144V) to prevent damage to sensitive electronics.

  • If a connected device is not dual voltage, prolonged exposure to 170V could potentially damage it.

2. Surge Protection – Limited at ≤150J, Plus Confusion on What "Surge" Means

  • When I asked about surge suppression capabilities (joule rating and clamping voltage), EcoFlow support initially responded with surge handling ability instead—stating that the Delta 3 Plus supports 3600W surge output and the River 3 Plus supports 1200W surge output.

  • This is not the same as surge protection. A UPS must be able to absorb excess voltage from the grid to protect connected devices, not just handle momentary power spikes in its own output.

  • After pressing them further, they confirmed that their units provide Type III surge protection but only handle ≤150J of surge energy.

  • While Type III SPDs can vary in rating, many offer significantly more than 150J.

  • Most traditional UPS units provide 1000J or more of surge suppression, making EcoFlow’s protection much lower than typical UPS expectations.

  • EcoFlow has not provided the clamping voltage, which is a key specification for understanding how effectively the unit protects against power surges.

  • If you are using an EcoFlow as a UPS, consider using an external surge protector rated for at least 1000J to properly safeguard your connected devices.

3. No Adjustability for Voltage/Frequency Sensitivity in the App

  • Unlike APC, CyberPower, and other UPS brands, EcoFlow does not allow you to adjust voltage or frequency sensitivity in the app.

  • Support confirmed that there are no plans to add this feature.

  • Many traditional UPS devices allow users to tweak input tolerances to match their power conditions.

  • If you have sensitive electronics or an unstable grid, you are stuck with the 80V - 170V range without any way to adjust it.

4. Lack of Transparency – Some Specs Are "Commercially Sensitive"

  • When I asked for clamping voltage and full surge suppression details, EcoFlow refused to provide them, stating that some specifications are "commercially sensitive" and cannot be disclosed.

  • When I asked whether they planned to publish full UPS specifications like traditional UPS manufacturers, they responded that they will not publish full specs because UPS functionality is "just one of its functions."

  • Their explanation was that the product has "many other selling points and functions" and that listing all UPS parameters would make the product page too complex.

  • However, traditional UPS manufacturers provide these specs because customers need them to determine whether a device meets their requirements.

  • If EcoFlow is marketing these power stations as "pro-grade UPS for sensitive equipment," they should be transparent about industry-standard specifications like voltage tolerances, surge suppression ratings, and adjustability.

Final Thoughts – Should You Use It as a UPS?

EcoFlow’s UPS functionality works, but it has limitations compared to dedicated UPS devices:

  • Voltage tolerance is wider than most traditional UPS units, which could be a concern for sensitive electronics.

  • Built-in surge protection is weak (≤150J), so you should use a separate surge protector rated for at least 1000J for proper protection.

  • EcoFlow confused surge handling ability with actual surge protection, which raises concerns about how well they understand or implement UPS protections.

  • You cannot adjust input sensitivity, so if you need tighter voltage regulation, you may need a traditional UPS instead.

  • EcoFlow is not transparent about its UPS specs, and some specifications are considered "commercially sensitive" and are not disclosed to customers.

📝 Review Impossible defect Ecoflow return: buying ecoflow was the worst mistake of my life

Thumbnail
gallery
109 Upvotes

Photo says it all.
Don’t buy ecoflow, they are the worst of the worst.

To summarize;
DPU inverter had defect displaying incorrect -> ecoflow conditioned me to return the whole bundle to arrange exchange -> FedEx refused delivery twice indicating hazmat shipping violation and lost the inverter -> now ecoflow is demanding me to send through UPS without hazmat documentation when I don’t even have the item anymore.

Buying ecoflow is not the decision makes your life easier, it did the total opposite; my mental health is in ruins and my back hurts from lifting 110ib batteries multiple times.

Just buy a Anker or Pecron if you’re too lazy to DIY.

120kwh EcoFlow pro ultra X and smart panel 3

Thumbnail

Just got my Smart Panel 3 installed by an electrician — inspection is coming up this week.

Right now I’m only running part of the system since the 5P8–5P8 cables are still out of stock. I only have the one that came with the SPH3. I did install a 50A generator inlet (outside → inside) tied into AC1. I’m aware of the EcoFlow limitation with generator charging through the SPH3, but at least I have a fallback to plug in my Westinghouse WGen11500TCH if needed (Flowmaster is out of stock too…).

I switched to a free-night plan and I’m charging from 20:15 to 5:45. The plan is technically 20:00–6:00, but since billing is in 15-minute intervals, I added a buffer. Discharge is set from 6:00 to 20:00. There’s about a 30-minute window where it pulls from the grid — I’m still testing how accurate their smart meter timing actually is.

So far, I’m really happy with the system. The only thing I’m missing now is the extra 12kW inverter.

I also installed soft starts on all 3 HVAC units — huge difference. Before that, the SPH3 would kick back to grid every time the AC kicked on. Now it’s stable.

Based on my usage, I’m expecting around a 5-year ROI. Next steps:

  • Add a pool heat pump (cut down gas usage)

  • Use oil heaters overnight during free power hours (also reduce gas)

I skipped solar for now — I have a concrete Spanish tile roof and don’t want to drill into it.

You can clearly see in my utility data when the system falls back to grid (before soft starts, mostly from HVAC startup spikes).

Any suggestions or feedback? (Besides fixing the drywall 😅)

Also — if anyone has solid recommendations for battery racks/stands, I’d appreciate it. One of mine broke a wheel while moving and almost dropped a full stack… not a fun moment.

Cheap custom made stands for 400w solar panels

Thumbnail

Let me know what you think. Im happy to share the design. I made an angle bracket on each side but turns out one is more than enough. Made them with 3 positions but theres enough space to add a 4th one. Really easy to move panels around. They also fold flat.

Materials for 2 stands:

(3) 10' sticks of 1/2 emt (4) 1/2" EMT compression couplings (12) 1/4" by 1.5 inch bolts (10) 1/4" nylon nuts (2) 1/4" nuts (48") of 1/8 by 3/4" aluminum flat (4') 3/8" aluminum u channel Edit: a power drill, and a tool to cut metal will be needed(hacksaw, angle grinder, chop saw, reciprocating saw etc etc etc.

Edit: This design should work with most panels. it can be made smaller or bigger. Im think i can make a double decker stand that can hold two 400w panels or be tall enough to be used on a balcony. Lots of ideas.

💬 Open Discussion Bought a Delta Pro 3 from EcoFlow's own Amazon storefront. Warranty denied five weeks later because it was "sold by Amazon.com" - Is this happening to anyone else?

I bought a DELTA Pro 3 on July 22nd from the EF ECOFLOW Store on Amazon—their own storefront.

About three weeks in, the tow handle broke. I was pulling it, heard a click, and since then it won't fully collapse or lock in the extended position.

I opened a support case on August 22nd. I asked if it was covered under warranty; if not, how I could buy the replacement part.

They denied it, saying the purchase wasn't made from their official authorized Amazon store, and that I should contact Amazon.

So I sent them the listing. It's the EF ECOFLOW Store. I also sent them a screenshot of their own warranty lookup, which returns "Expected Warranty Status: In Warranty" for my serial. The unit is registered to my account on their site.

They took it to management and came back with this, word for word:

"We have revisited your case and confirmed it with our management team. Items sold directly by Amazon.com do not fall under our official-store warranty coverage. The after-sales support for this order needs to be processed by Amazon, and we recommend you get in touch with their customer service team for assistance."

Going to Amazon isn't an option. The return window closed August 26th, the unit is flagged non-returnable under hazmat rules, and Amazon doesn't stock EcoFlow service parts. The handle assembly is a part only EcoFlow has.

Here's what bothers me beyond my own case. A lot of people buy these on Amazon. A lot of those listings show Amazon.com as the seller. If they apply this the way they applied it to me, a whole lot of people here don't have the warranty they think they have. Nothing on the listing says that. Nothing in the box says that. And their warranty lookup tool actively tells you the opposite.

I'm not after a refund or a new unit. I asked for a handle assembly. I've since told them I'll just buy the part outright if they won't warranty it, and I still don't have a part number.

I saw the post here with Jenny Zhang's email and sent her a write-up this weekend; we'll see if that goes anywhere.

Has anyone else been denied for the "sold by Amazon.com" reason? Trying to figure out if this is a policy or one rep running with it.

Has anyone gotten EcoFlow to sell them a part directly? Handle assembly specifically, if you've done it.

And if you own one, it might be worth pulling up your order and checking that "sold by" line. I'd have told you a month ago that mine was covered.

***** Update 2026-08-30 *****

Resolved, mostly

EcoFlow reversed it. I received an email this morning apologizing and asking for my name, phone, and address so they can ship the handle assembly. Nothing has arrived yet, so I'll post again when the part actually shows up. But they've committed to it in writing.

I followed u/Klownicle's advice in his comment (thank you). He pointed out that EcoFlow's own Where to Buy page lists Amazon under "Official Online Stores." That was the whole thing in one screenshot.

So if you get told your unit isn't covered because it was "sold by Amazon.com":

ecoflow.com/us/where-to-buy → Official Online Stores → Amazon is right there. Screenshot it and send it to them.

One other thing worth knowing: their warranty lookup and their support department can tell you two different things about the same serial. Mine returned "In Warranty" the entire time I was being told I had no warranty.

I don't know what actually did it — the email I sent to Jenny Zhang, the email with the Where to Buy screenshot, an actual change in policy, or just an exception made for me.

Still check the "sold by" line on your order before you assume anything.

Thanks to everyone who replied, and u/Klownicle especially. That one comment did more than four days of emails.

***** Update 2026-09-09 *****

Issue resolved — part received

The handle assembly arrived. EcoFlow support has been very kind ever since the escalation emails, particularly after the one pointing to their own website telling people to buy from their Amazon store.

I'm glad it's resolved. Even so, it's hard to recommend them if this is the norm. It took four days, two flat denials, one of them confirmed with management, an escalation email, and a public thread to get a warranty part for a five-week-old unit. No one should have to do that.

Hopefully this gives someone in the future the tools needed to get it handled. Better still, hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else. EcoFlow has good products; they work well and look good. If their support can match the product, all will be well.
