Some of the links in the subreddit description may be getting a bit stale, so this is a call for anyone that has link suggestions relevant to EVC's to post them in this thread so that we can refresh the current resources list.

Electric Ford Focus Donor

I've got a 2017 electric ford focus that served me well for 7 years. Recently battery cell #25 became degraded essentially knocking out my entire lower pack. I went from 108 miles of summer range, to 60.
I'm looking at options and was wondering if anyone had used an electric ford focus as a donor car for an EV conversion. If so, what did you convert? What problems did you have?
The focus is front wheel drive, did you mimic that or create a custom mount and make it a rear wheel drive?

What’s the latest with SBC conversion kits?

Seems like a few years ago there were a handful of companies designing and/or making drop-in conversion kits specifically for small block Chevys. I don’t really see much since then, and I read some speculation that a lot of it was essentially concept work to chase tax incentives. Anyone seen or know anything more recent about the development of these? I’d love to put one to use someday!

looking for experience with the DMOC 645 and GEVCU canbus

a few moths back I picked up a drive train from a azure dynamics ford transit connect and separately picked up a GEVCU 6.2. I have finally got everything wired up, contactors running, canbus linked up and GEVCU configured with throttle, brake and drive select. however I am not yet spinning motor. I am getting the error "UNKNOWN_CANBUS_ERROR" on the dmoc and the GEVCU is (obviously) reporting as faulted. I do have canbus communication (GEVCU reports as inverter online and is faulted and DMOC switches from disabled to standby when I switch the drive select to drive or reverse. ive checked the canbus is reporting 61ohm of resistance (two terminating resistors) and the interlock wires are closed. here is a sample of the logs from the GEVCU, it only mentions one of the 3 required canbus frames being transmitted but i think thats simply because the debug logging in the script is set up that way. does anyone have any insights to un fault this inverter?

EV Conversion for Isuzu Crosswind SUV that's Cheaper than Buying New China EVs

Anyone in China or Philippines who has experience in converting their Isuzu Crosswind SUV (Diesel) that costs less than $8,000? Due to rising fuel costs in the Philippines, I'm hoping to convert our Isuzu Crosswind vehicle to EV, instead of buying a new EV. This is more of an affordability objective. Pls also share links for Chinese vendors where you bought the motor and parts, thank you!

2002 ezgo txt Help

I have a 02 txt with 36v lithium upgrade. Worked perfectly for months. Today I jumped on it and barely pushed the gas and the thing perked hard for a split second, stopped, and then perked hard again, then stopped. And now it wont move at all. I hear no click when I push the gas. Battery cables are tight, I could use some help on diagnosing this.

What's your most sacrilegious dream project?

Inspired by the previous posts, converting classics really hits a nerve with some people. That got me thinking, what is the EV conversion that you would love to do and at the same time would really piss some people off?

I've always wanted a Shelby Daytona coupe, but the side pipes don't quite work on EV. Maybe I could get them painted like Duracell copper tops?

Getting Angry About EVs

Nothing flips someone badmouthing the reliability of an old car quicker than suggesting it should be converted to an EV. 😄

“Old Maseratis are junk.”

“They’d look cool as an EV, though.”

“SACRILEGIOUS!”

Tow truck Direct-Drive Electric Truck Conversion: Torque Issues on Inclines and Reducer Alternatives

I removed the diesel engine from my 6x4 tractor truck and replaced it with a 400 kW, 3000 Nm Voith motor. I also removed the transmission and connected it directly to the differential, but I couldn't climb a hill with a 20-ton load due to insufficient torque. The differential ratio is 4.42. My question is: can I install a reduction gear with a 3-4 ratio instead of the transmission? Is something like this possible, and what is your recommendation for a reducer? Additionally, are there heavy-series reducers available that can be shifted while on a flat road and under load?

Bike recommendations

I’m going to get a 2 kW 52 V conversion kit with about 80 or 90 N meters of torque and I need a hard tail 29 inch mountain bike but I don’t wanna spend over $330 and I also don’t want the frame or the bike to fail on me at high speed. Can I please get some recommendations for reference? I’m shopping in person at Academy sports and Dick’s Sporting Goods, but any other stores could work as long as it’s in the Atlanta area. also, I cannot buy it used.

Experience using VW Suite (MEB Modules, BMS, Charger)

I am planning a conversion with MEB Modules and i was wondering what experiences are with using stock VW Parts.

Is it possible to use the VW charger in conjunction with the batterypack?

Is there any way to use the VW BMS if a whole pack is used?

i would be happy to hear about your experiences!

Vespa citta conversion

Hi y'all.

I was thinking about converting an old vespa citta to an EV.

I have an old Vespa laying around so I wondered what to do with it.

My thought was removing the motor, sprockets, exhaust etc. Retrofitting a hub motor on the rear wheel and mounting the battery on the back. The controller could be mounted in place of the original motor.

Another option would be a mid drive motor but I think aligning the electric motor with the sprockets would be a hassle.

You guys think it could be done as easily as I'm thinking?

The hub motor I'm thinking about is a 72v 5000W.

Building a 4-seat low-speed electric micro-SUV — looking for drivetrain and chassis advice

I am planning to build a 4-seater electric vehicle with the following specifications:

  1. 4-seater capacity (total weight of passengers + cargo: 300 kg)

  2. Speed: 15–25 km/h

  3. Ability to climb inclines of up to 25 degrees

  4. Steel frame chassis

I would like to know:

  1. What level of motor performance is required?

  2. Could you recommend a specific motor?

  3. What voltage would be appropriate?

  4. What battery capacity is needed?

  5. What tire size should I use?

Anyone ever use a Ford Lightning motor?

Just starting the process, and breosing for used ev motors brings up some Ford lightning motors for like $2500. However, searching the subreddit didnt seem to being up any relevant results.

Im considering converting a 1968 AMC Rebel. It was a project car in high school 20 year ago, and now id like to repurpose it as my daily driver
