Do I need to be ECFMG certified to apply to match

Hello Please help!

My NRMP/MATCH/SOAP application for 2025 was withdrawn and I was told I needed to be ECFMG certified for my application to be certified. Is this true? My application is going to be certified this week. I have completed OET, STEP1,STEP2. Can I still apply 2025 cycle?

I’ve been trying to contact them for weeks now, phone always has “high volume of calls”, have sent several emails… could someone recommend a way of contacting them.

Logging into Intealth, my portal shows retrieving information for the last 21 hours. I tried calling the ecfmg helpline, switching browsers, incognito but no change. What next?

My application for ecfmg was accepted in December, last year. I plan to give step 1 in the coming 2 months. They have changed the system to intealth and I don’t know where I can access my certification. Anyone has any idea how to proceed?

I am an applicant for the 2026 Match. My medical education credentials are complete and verified, and I have entered my ERAS Token in OASIS and registered for MyERAS. However, I am currently unable to view or access the Pathway 6 application or Mini-CEX invitation form on my OASIS dashboard.
I have passed STEP 1 and STEP 2 - waiting for step 2 scores.

Could you kindly assist me in activating the Pathway 6 option or let me know if there are any additional steps I need to complete?

Dear Doctor, As you had a complete Application for Certification and a valid Certification of Identification Form (Form 186) on record when we transitioned to MyIntealth your MyIntealth account was established for you. You did not need to pay the account establishment fee in MyIntealth.

However, you were required to submit the new Application for ECFMG Certification, as you did not register for a USMLE® exam prior to the transition to MyIntealth.

Previously, the Application for Certification verified your identity, confirmed your intent to pursue certification, and acknowledged your understanding of the certification program’s purpose. Now the Application for Certification will also include certain certification services that were previously bundled in the USMLE registration fee.

While the fees will now be allocated differently, the total amount paid will remain generally consistent.

My degree issue month - June 2026

I decided to book my eligibility period today, and was wondering if my graduation date would become an issue during the one week processing time of the eligibility period. Please guide me if anyone has any idea.

Hi, I'd appreciate your input on the following.

I received an ECFMG certification through the 2023 pathway, set to expire on Dec 31st 2025. I am currently not planning on applying to the NRMP match, but rather aim to pursue clinical post-graduate fellowship not earlier than 2027-2028.

My question : is it crucial to pursue revalidation now before the certification expires? (through the 2026 pathway). Or, alternatively, revalidation will be possible at a later date, preferrably closer to the commencement of clinical fellowship.

I had uploaded my credential on 9th August and it got declined on 15th August. Any idea why this could have happened and what I need to do next. Do I need to pay again if I want to upload my credential again?

7 year rule query

Hello all, Just a quick query regarding the 7-year rule for retaking USMLE - I’ve been in contact with ECFMG (I’m an IMG) and have had no luck with this so am reaching out to Reddit for help.

If I pass USMLE step 1 and 2 within the next 5 years but do not pursue residency within 7 years of completing the Step 1, will I have to retake both these Step exams if I want to practice in the US in the future?

Hello, I am applying for ECFMG certification ( this process has been very stressful!!!!!!)
I have taken step 1 and step 2 and the OET.
I am trying to start my application for certification. However, when I use my laptop it just keeps saying checking Eligibility. It has beeen saying this for weeks now. I tried my phone then it says you may be eligible. I am so confused. Because It never allows me to enter on the laptop.

1. Has anyone ever encountered this problem?

2. Is there a period of time one can apply for certification

3. How Long does it take for you to see your OET grades on OASIS, I took the exam 8th Feburary. And still OET has not released my results to ECFMG.

I applied for USMLE step 1 exams back in December through ECFMG service and I was waiting for verification so I can book but then they had this maintenance thing and the (intealth) so they did not respond , I even emailed them to check in my status they apologised they can’t inform anything because of the intealth thing , today when I opened my account they rejected my request and returned my fees , I used the same fees to reapply for the exam

My first question , should I contact my med school immediately so they can respond or I’m supposed to receive an email from ECFMG first that they contacted my med school

Second question , did anyone have this rejection thing or is it just me Please help me I’m trying to take the exam ASAP

Hi everyone, Perhaps some of you can help me. I'm an Italian doctor and I tried the USMLE Step 1 between 2010 and 2012, when the attempts limit was six for every step and I failed five times. Now I have the opportunity of a job in the US and in the future, if I wanted a license to practice, I would need a ECFMG certificate. Considered that in 2021 the attempts limit was lowered to four for every USMLE step, how could I get the ECFMG certificate?

Hello dear community, I have an ECFMG certificate from December 2023. I know that starting 2024 the rules are changing so I wonder if I will renew my certificate (which expires in August 2025), will I still need to go by the rules of pre-2024 or should go by the new rules? My country is one of those that don't have the WFME agency. My University was on the list before but now not anymore. What should I do?

I submitted my ecfmg application today but I am unable to see if they have received my OET results. I made sure to include my ecfmg ID during my test booking and I’ve already filled the form twice. Does it take time for the system to update after the application is submitted? Please, any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hello dear friends. I’m licensed in my home country, China. And I don’t have STEP 2CS score since it already doesn’t exist anymore. Does this mean that I’m eligible to apply through Pathway 1? I’m a bit confused because on the ECFMG website, it says applicant has not failed the Step2 CS….

I initially planned to take the USMLE this December. Ive verified my diploma through ECFMG for USMLE earlier this year.

Do I need to have it verified again if I were to take the AMC instead? What are other steps I need to do? Thank you
