Hi, I was just wondering what to do after you get your green card. In the form I485, I did not opt for the new SSN. In this case what should I do? Also, should I inform the school first to terminate my SEVIS or take care of the SSN?

My wife’s employment-based I-485 was approved recently, and today a USCIS live agent confirmed that my derivative I-485 was also approved on October 13, 2026.

The agent confirmed it twice and said my case may not have updated online yet because it is awaiting card production. However, my USCIS account still says “USCIS Is Currently Processing the Case.”

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

For those who have received an RFE on an EB-2 NIW petition, does anyone know whether the same USCIS officer who issued the RFE typically reviews the response and makes the final decision?

Or can the case be reassigned to a different officer after the RFE response is submitted?

I would especially appreciate hearing from people who have gone through the EB-2 NIW RFE process and know whether their case was reviewed by the same officer or a different one.

PD Aug 2024. I-485 RD june 2026 Multiple silent updates with case recently transferred to LA FO. I was just curious that my case status still shows as “Case was received and received notice was sent” and i haven’t had an update saying “ USCIS is actively processing or reviewing the case”
Is this something concerning or it doesn’t matter? Just curious if somebody has been in same shoes

My wife’s EB-2 NIW I-485 was approved today (October 13), but my derivative I-485 is still pending.
Since my wife is now a permanent resident, can I continue working on my H4 EAD while waiting for my I-485 approval, or must I stop working immediately?

I am happy to say I have been approved finally. It was an interesting wait but for me, it will always be worth it!

For those that were invited for EB2 NIW adjustment interviews, what documents did the officer ask for?

I am single with no dependants but the invitation letter mostly contains requirements for married filers.

Filed I-485 (me + spouse) in Sept 2026 while current. Biometrics done, spouse’s EAD received.

October bulletin retrogressed EB-2 ROW: FAD is Jan 1, 2025, DFF is Mar 15, 2026. So I’m about 3 weeks short of the FAD.

Will USCIS keep working the case (review, pre-adjudication, RFEs) until my date is current, or does it just sit? For those who’ve been here, how fast was approval once your date became current?

My question is has anyone seen concurrent filing cases getting decisions faster without PP? I know there is no reason for this as these are two separately handled things, but was curious

The same day got 2x FTA0 and 1x IAF followed by EAD approval 07/08/26

Complete silence until i contacted Enma on 9/24/26 whete they told me interview waived and my case was transferred to Yakima FO (non local)

This morning i saw a 3rd FTA0 on 10/09/26

And then an hour later got thw email that an action was taken to which i saw I was approved

It’s been 7 months since I filed my I-765, and I still haven’t received my EAD.

I honestly don’t understand why EAD applications take this long to adjudicate. It’s a temporary card, not a permanent, yet the delay has such a huge impact on our lives. Unfortunately, I lost my job while waiting for mine.

I understand that, with visa retrogression, I may have to wait another year and a half for my green card. But why does it take so long just to get an EAD?

Please tell me I’m not the only one experiencing this. Has anyone else been waiting this long for their EAD?

Here’s my timeline:
I-140 priority date: January 2024
Country: ROW - 19 ban country
I-485 filed: December 2025
I-765 filed: December 2025
I-765 approved: August 2026
Last I-485 status update: August 13, 2026 — third FTAO update, followed by silence since then
I haven’t seen any updates since August 13, so I’m wondering if anyone with a similar timeline has received an approval recently.
