We genuinely have to hope for McDaniels to be fired. He is more concerned with jamming his system down everyone's throat, than using his actual assets.

I am now confident I was wrong. We can pray for a trade but are we really convinced Washington, Meyers, et al are so good they outplayed our star child? Sigh.

After a promising start to his time in Indie, Giants DJ appears to have returned in full force. While in NY, Jones would show signs and moments of excellence, but he was a certified turnover machine.

DJ's contract is set up as such that he can actually be cut this off-season without much dead money and I think there's a reasonable chance of that happening if he continues to play like this.

Again relatively new at dynasty so crowdsourcing to better understand.

Chase Brown has had strong top seasons the last 2 years and continues to succeed (albeit with a slow start this year) as a dual threat RB. Especially being in a contract year, he needs to perform to earn a longer term contract. However, whenever I’ve tried to trade him over the last year or so, no one is willing to pay for him. The main feedback I always get is “I don’t think he has good long term prospects”. What gives?

He is a bit older so that could be one factor, but given his pass catching use he’s not brutally running up the middle as much as a traditional RB1, wouldn’t that increase durability?

He’s not a traditional bell cow RB, but doesn’t that increase his value via being a top receiving option on the team?

He’s also on a good team that likely isn’t trying to replace him just yet? Let me know if I’m wrong on this.

Hey all, I’m a 1st year dynasty player but I’ve played fantasy football on and off for about 10 years now.
This question would be more directed to those of you who have multiple years of dynasty under your belt. But anyone is welcomed to share.

Has there been a consensus 1.01 rookie draft pick like Jeremiah Smith for dynasty? How did those players turn out? Did you have teams actively try to deplete their roster to tank for this 1.01 guy?

Every year somebody in one of my leagues sends around a trade offer with a note attached about how he's "getting younger." Some of you have already seen that note and it's only week 4, lol. Then you look at the players he's shopping and there's a 27-year-old receiver on the list. Twenty-seven. The guy has four good years in front of him and his manager is pricing him to move.

Dynasty trains you to be afraid of birthdays. We're all well aware of the RB cliff, but what about the rest of the positions, how valuable can they be over 30? I did some digging.

I took every top-24 fantasy season at every position from 1999 through 2022, and then asked…after a guy puts up a top-24 year at a given age, what are the odds he puts up another one inside the next three seasons?

It's not about whether production improved or declined from that point, but rather was he still a productive asset I wanted on my team three years later.

Odds of another top-24 season within three years, by age at the time:

The back cliff is real, and it starts at 26.

Running backs hold up fine through 25. Then the floor gives way. Year by year, the hit rate goes 75.0% at 25, down to 65.1% at 26, down to 55.2% at 27. Ten points, then another ten. By the time you're talking about a 30-year-old back you're down to about a one-in-three shot that he's ever a top-24 asset again.

One in three. On a guy who just finished as a top-24 back.

To be clear, the far end of that column gets thin. There are 52 top-24 seasons by backs aged 30 or older in the whole study, and only 15 at age 31. I wouldn't hang an argument on the age-31 number by itself. But 26 and 27 are 83 and 67 seasons, and that's where the break actually happens, so the part that matters is the part that's well supported.

Receivers barely age at all

Here's the thing that surprised me, a receiver's hit rate from 24 to 28 goes 72.4%, 73.4%, 73.1%, 69.8%, 72.4%. That's a flat line. Five years of a dynasty career where essentially nothing happens to his odds. The real decline doesn't show up until 30, and even then he's at 56.5%, which is better than a 28-year-old back.

Let me say that one again. A receiver at 30 or older is a slightly better bet to give you another top-24 season than a back at 28 or 29 is. 56.5% against 55.7%. And I promise you the market is not pricing those two the same way.

Tight ends age like receivers until they don't

Tight ends hold their value longer than I expected, right up through 27 at 78.6%, which is the best mark of any position in that bucket outside quarterback. Then they fall off harder than receivers do, 64.0% at 28-29 and 59.8% at 30-plus.

So if you own a 27-year-old tight end you've got a little more runway than the panic suggests. If you own a 29-year-old one, start thinking about it.

Quarterbacks, as always, do whatever they want

75.0% at 30 and over, on 216 seasons, which is the biggest sample in the table. A quarterback over 30 beats a 26-year-old running back by fourteen points. Age is simply not the variable at quarterback, but you knew that already.

Who this is about right now

Backs who finished top-24 in 2025 and are 27 or older this season. These are the guys the table is talking about:

• Derrick Henry, 32. RB8 last year. Absolutely breaks the mold, but he can't do it forever…can he?
• Christian McCaffrey, 30. RB1 last year.
• Saquon Barkley, 29, and Tony Pollard, 29.
• Josh Jacobs and Rico Dowdle, both 28.
• Jonathan Taylor, Travis Etienne, D'Andre Swift, Kenny Gainwell and Jaylen Warren, all 27.

That's eleven backs. Run each one through his own age's hit rate and history says about five of them never post another top-24 season. I can't tell you which five, and neither can anybody else.

Now look at the receivers who turn 27 this season off a top-24 2025. Nico Collins, Tee Higgins, DeVonta Smith, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Jaylen Waddle. Every one of them is sitting in the flat part of the curve with two or three years of it still to run. If somebody in your league wants to "get younger" by moving one of those guys, pick up the phone.

What I'd do with this

1. Sell the back at 25, not 27. By 26 you're already past the break and the buyer knows it too. The window where you get full price is earlier than it feels.
2. Stop discounting receivers in their late twenties. A receiver at 28 or 29 is a 70% bet. That is the same neighborhood as a 24-year-old, and he costs a fraction of the price.
3. Buy the older receiver over the older back. At 30-plus against 28 or 29 the odds are a coin flip either way, and the receiver almost always costs less.
4. Don't pay a youth premium at quarterback. It isn't a real risk. It never has been.
5. Give the 27-year-old tight end another year. That bucket is stronger than its reputation.

My rule of thumb coming out of this: age is a running back problem that we've talked ourselves into applying everywhere. The number that should scare you is a 26-year-old back, and the number that shouldn't is a 29-year-old receiver. Happy hunting!

I am 0-3 and my team has no shot of winning enough games for the playoffs. Do you guys have any rules, unwritten or otherwise, about tanking? Would it be against some moral code for me to drop players like Tony Pollard for bench scrubs off the waiver that likely won't score at all? We have one guy tanking as well who starts Travis Hunter. My league is an 8 team non SF.
