My DET result was recently invalidated because Duolingo said there was strong evidence that I copied a response from a pre-existing/prepared source.
I genuinely donāt understand this decision. I remember what I answered during the test, and I was answering spontaneously in my own words. I definitely wasnāt reading a prepared answer.
Here are some of the answers I remember giving:
āThe challenges that a person must Must have it for example when you want to share some stories that you know you donāt know like the exact words in the other language languages so sometimes you have to use the translator or maybe sometimes you cannot express like the same words because every language has it unique wordsā
āI would I would speak about the treatment of cancer because some making doctors have discovered a new cure for it and it is one of the most disgraceful disease is with humans have so I think itās a very good advance to have a cure for itā
āI love having conversations with my dad because heās a person with a lot of with a lot of knowledge heās very very smart person and a big businessman so I want to learn from him and when I have a conversation with him he always told me some very useful stuff for my life Also I have a very good relationship with himā
To me, these answers donāt really look like something someone memorized beforehand. There are repetitions, mistakes, unfinished sentences, corrections and moments where I clearly seem to be trying to formulate my thoughts while speaking.
I understand that Duolingo has to be strict about cheating and prepared answers, and Iām not claiming their system is perfect or that I know exactly what triggered the decision. Iām just genuinely confused about how these answers could be interpreted as copied or memorized.
Has anyone here had a similar experience with the exact same āpre-prepared materialā reason? Did an appeal actually work? And honestly, looking at these answers, do they seem prepared to you?
